Having been interested in the sport since the 1970's the greatest finish in my opinion was by Lord Module in the Allan Matson Free For All 1981 at Addington, he showed unbelievable speed in the closing stages finishing like a tornado. The field was a grand circuit standard field, he beat the champion Gammalite and many other top notch horses. Can be viewed on youtube. Lord Module was one of the most brilliant pacers but also incredibly temperamental, risky proposition to bet on. A complete enigma.
@@midnightrambler6018 that's exaggeration, he won a heat and was placed in heats during interdominion series at Harold Park in 1980 but failed in the final after going for an extended gallop at the start. Not surprising from the stand, was never going to fare well other than off the mobile, which was risky with him anyway as it was. He wasn't a horse I would have put money on in any race. Spectacular when he had his mind on the job though.
This is glorious, I've been looking for "horse racing codes" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Peyarper Subjective Primacy - (should be on google have a look ) ? It is a smashing one of a kind product for discovering how to get a profitable betting system without the normal expense. Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my m8 got great results with it.✔️

For me the greatest horse was New Zealand bred Mount Eden who was a renowned bad starter as well as punished by big handicaps in standing start races. Watch the 1971 Miracle Mile to see what a machine he was.
sadarar - Wow, you know your History my friend. Johnny Tapp once stated that Mount Eden was the best thing he had seen on a Racetrack in all of his years associated with both forms of Horse Racing. Yes The 71’ Miracle Mile is Legendary. I was fortunate in the Early 1980’s to watch the Great Popular Alm go around at the Grand Opening of the newly renovated pacing circuit at Albion Park in Brisbane, Queensland. Hard to split this pair, as impossible to compare different Era’s + Technologies. 👍👍
The greatest race finish was Rev Your Engine coming from last to go head to head with race leader Angels Shadow in the 1986 Gold Cup and Saucer at the Charlottetown Driving Park in Charlottetown P.E.I. Canada. The race was contested on an extremely sloppy track as rain fell through the whole evening and both horses battled back and forth right to the finish line They were two very strong contenders and were both champions that night.
I've seen that at the B tracks like Orangeville where William "Bud" Fritz spotted the field at a guess about 110 lengths. It was a 2 year old maiden colt running against 3 year old pigs in Orangeville after a break at the start. He won by 24 lengths after spotting the field about 85 lengths.
serious question : I am new to understand a learn more about harness racing , how come sometimes the horse gets disqualify by change of pace , gallop , trot ? how does that works , I thought horses are trained for that or is the drivers that control that.. I just watched TVG harness race and it says it was special race with all rocky horses and drivers.. over 3 horses disqualified during race ( even the favorite ) lol....... thank you for serious reply...
I will try to help. Harness racing has 2 types of gait. Pacing and Trotting. A race for trotters will have horses trained for trotting only so no pacing or galloping allowed. The trotters can sometimes go too fast for a trot and may gallop if inexperienced. This causes disqualification in most European countries. In Australia, a gallop is ok if brief and makes no advantage. A trotter is left front leg/ back right leg then right front leg/ back left. It looks like a criss-cross running. Pacing is usually faster but same galloping rules apply. Pacer will run left front/ left back then right front/ right back. This is not a horses natural gait but pacers are bred to run this way. In Australia, trotters may race in a race for pacers but only good trotters are competitive. I'm no expert but I hope this helps.
Not bad, but by no means the most improbable outcome in harness racing history. Just a couple of relatively recent instances which I think were at least, if indeed, not more impressive than Tricky Styx's effort of winning after being relegated for most of the race are, New World Order's win at Gloucester park a few seasons ago , and Blackjackzack's at the same track in 2017.
There was one at Greenwood in Ontario, Canada with a triple dead heat and 5 horses less than a quarter of a nose apart for a possible 5 way dead heat for win.
Tricky Styx isn't even in the database of all horses. I've seen races at Orangeville raceway where horses make up almost one hundred lengths after a break to win races. I've seen it numerous times with William "Budd" Fritz. He brings out a maiden very well bred and runs it against glue factory horses and the horse breaks in his/her maiden then comes back on to make up about 90 lengths and win by about 10 lengths.
We had a horse a few years ago (early 80s) in Summerside Prince Edward Island that was sitting 5th at the 7/8 pole, driver took her 4 wide halfway up the home stretch and touched her once, he said her butt literally dropped 6 inches digging in, she won by half a length. He told us after that it was the fastest he'd ever came home, lol. We thought he was trying to make us feel better about the win but he left the tack room three times after the race to go out and pet that little black mare of ours. Dad always trained our horses to finish strong and she was quick on her feet.
@@parkerbohnn jimmy freight ran huge in the battle of lake eerie. 8 post parked the whole mile and still ran second. He didnt tire until the final 100 meters
I think you’re pretty much right on this. Best Finnish ever? Yeah I guess if I had $1000 on him and $500 on the exact day and a $100 trifecta I would say that.
not sure if he meant best last quarter...but the harness race ever with the best finish ever was the 2008 Haughton final with mr big and artistic fella
Did you back it??? W.A. racing is picnic standards, tracks are no good either are the horses. There are finishes like that everyday on all codes, haha!!! Have a look at “Lazarus” (NZ) & his finishes!!! Race after race!
a true harness racing fan understands why this video has (currently) 165 dislikes and only 271 likes. The title is ridiculous as the poster never saw a harness race before? SMH.
The winner was third to last at the half mile pole, but came back strong. Nothing special. What I consider special is when you have 7 or 8 horses strung out at the finish line.
@@mark3716 it never quite won like this night though. I won on this night but lost money on the horse many times after lol. It was one of my favorite horses to watch.
Queen L is a swedish horse but if you want to see the worlds best horse you should check out Delicious US, also swedish, the horses in this video sucks in comparison
No the best finish race I watch was in Lebanon raceway the old race track and there was a horse went off stride right off the gate. The other horses was in the back field when the horse that went off stride was coming around the grand stand and when the second turn came the horse comes from no chance in the world to finish because if a horse gets beat that bad they would just go ahead and take them off the track during racing. To finishing first I mean this horse should been back into the barn not finish the race. Call it done. To can't believe it and finished first
How is this the greatest finish ever ?... Wow you guys must have pathetic racing if this is your best ... 2 guys killing each other up front4 cant keep up, and 1 closer.... Wow amazing...Not
"The Freak Of Nature" Mission Brief blowing out a 1:50.3 October 2nd 2014 in the International Stake at The Red Mile as a two year old. A record that could stand for more than 50 years.
As a horse person this has got to the the most absurd and wasteful horse sport I’ve possibly ever seen. And trust me I don’t like any of the sports, but this one is just ridiculous. This is another level of stupid.
Spin my head - Hahahahaha exactly what I was thinking. Maybe he has an I-Pad with him in the closet. We’ll just wait and see if he “COMES OUT”........................... Shouldn’t be Long now............................not too much Longer........................Are you alright in there Eric? Do you want us to come in..................Or..........................Are you gonna “ COME OUT” now? 🤭😴😴😴
not even remarkable. anyone who thinks this is a great finish NEVER saw IDEAL DU GAZEAU do this same thing with regularity. year after year. against the greatest trotters on the planet. denmark, sweden, france, new york, the meadowlands. wherever the very best trotters congregated.. he smushed 'em. won the roosevelt international 4 times, sick one year, otherwise it would have been FIVE. sit on the outside the entire mile, 1 1/4 miles, 1 1/2 miles, made no difference.. grind you into a steaming hot pile of corned beef hash. and make you like it. with a barely competent driver, who was always a half hour late coming out under other horses, yet never got taken down . IDEAL DU GAZEAU. see for yourself. watch him right here on youtube
nice win, but the best finish ever, no. Hell A7863 won parked out the whole mile for a new lifetime mark and do not consider that the best finish ever and he was my horse.
