Yknow, apart from my obvious bias towards Tengen Uzui, I feel he is always so undervalued on the ranking lists simply due to circumstances regarding the mark. Thing about upper moon 6 was another circumstantial one with his poison, if it was any other hashira other than the top 3 they would have struggled horribly against Gyutarou's poison. I definitely think he should not be above 5 or 6 on the list, but I would say rengoku and tengen have a very tradable position, simply due to the fact that akaza was toying with rengoku right up until the sunrise, akaza could've wiped the floor with him the moment he got there. + neither tengen or rengoku are marked so I'd say they're on pretty even playing fields

I just think all the Hashiras are strong in their own way, ranking them doesn't do any justice, think about Shinobu killing upper moon 2 by sacrificing herself by poisoning her body (that was a great strategic plan). It avoid other fighters to die while fighting a strong demon and gave them a guaranteed victory, unlike the fight against Kokushibo where Genya and Muichiro had to "sacrifice" themselves in order to win. Even Kyojuro who could've left Tanjiro (to be killed by Akaza) and retreat as he was not in a good position to fight the upper moon but instead he chose to die so that everyone else will live

Absolutely correct, Manga even states that Giyu is equally matched to Sanemi in 1 on 1. He’s probably #3 in power behind Gyomei and Sanemi, as I think Sanemi has the upper hand if a 1 v1 was a death match against Giyu. He’s also sleeping on Uzui. some people cannot unlock the mark example rengoku even enar death couldn't do it, same for uzui, while gyomei did it without effort. some people are not strong enough to unlock the mark by will example uzui and rengoku

tengen had high resistance to poisons, if you try to tell me mitsuri or rengoku would have done better you have to be out of your mind, the twin duo is highly under rated, gyutaro is strong on his own plus can't be killed unless his sister is beheaded at the same, tell me any hashira that could solo them or do any better, just not a thing. Only gyomei could probably solo them, rest of hashiras wouldn't do much better or even worse because 1 scratch of the poison and they are done for. Not saying tengen is the strongest but even if he got help he managed to take down an upper 6, first person to kill an upper 6 in 113 years. Consider daki and gyutaro are away from each other, getting hit once with the poison is game over, and you somehow have to behead both of them at the same, NO HASHIRA COULD DO THIS ON THEIR OWN. There's just no way for any short ranged swordsmen to deal with the duo on their own.

You can't really use "toying with an upper moon" as an argument to say that he's concretely no.3 since we never got to see giyu or obanai fight a low upper moon. Considering their performance during the battle against muzan who is way stronger than any of the upper moons, it's pretty safe to say that they would at least be able to take down a low upper moon.

Obanai only had better swordsmanship then Muichiro lol they both had the weakest bodies besides shinobu, they both have crazy reflexes, swordsmanship, transparent world, Red nichirin blade, mark and etc. They are pretty much equal but Obanai just got to shine in Muzan fight. Put Obanai in Mui fight against Upper Moon 1 and he would do the same as Muichiro lol. He isn’t superior nore inferior to Muichiro

The reason why he was able to fight muzan was because of the demon slayer core and he wasn’t even able to turn his blade read on his own he needed help from sanemi. Let me add is he the only hashira to defeat an upper moon on his own

Second, being a descendant doesnt mean you're automatically strong, it means you have a potential. Third, muichiro is not even able to wound kokoshibou, only when he recklessly approach kokoshibou to stab him. Fourth, the reason why he was able to do that because he is willing to die and sacrifice, that's why he taught of everything he can do so that they could fdefeat kokoshibou. Fifth, i believe sanemi and giyu could turn their blades red on their own, the reason is that giyu with one hand helped tanjirou to make his blade turn red. To make the sword red, you need to have a demon slayer mark to have that, any hashira could do that because their physical strength are mostly higher than muichirou and obanai, it's in the grip. Also, to make things clear, to make the sword red, you need enough time, even obanai and muichirou did it while not moving and obanai is nearly caught by the attack of muzan. The reason why they decide to clash their swords because it's the faster way. Enough of the red blade, some of you really overestimate kokoshibou and underestimates akaza, kokoshibou may be stronger but that doesnt mean their gap to so big. I just want to point that out. Also, giyu was able to come out without any fatal injuries after the akaza's fight. Also i want to point out that giyu is not a defensive specialist,but his techniques and water breathing are mainly adaptable to any fight and also because he has a fine swordmanship as stated by akaza. And also muichirou fought um5 with a little help of the kid swordsmith. Also, giyu and sanemi both tied in their sparring and giyu have more experience than muichiou. Not to mention, giyu is smart if you really read the manga well, he's just quiet.

Muichiro still had to defend civilians and was also poisoned, while not having the poison resistance tengen had. Plus, the people he was defending were just random injured people, whereas the three demon slayers Tengen was with were actually contributing to the fight.

Perks of not being Human. Hashiras were peak humans who became superhuman but being super human stil lhas human in it. demons to make sense of it is kind of like Bleach where espadas go beyond shinigami naturally but there are monster shinigami. Hasiras are kind of liek that outside of different abilities and being different anime. If i was a Hashira i would join Muzan to become a monster with the soul purpose and goal to becoem stronger then Muzan not just the hashira.

he was poisoned because he was weak and was protected by the squad various times, Tanjiro and zenitsu were closest to kill upper 6 than he was ever. Uzui can get stronger over time but when fighting an upper moon, you die immediatly if you are not strong enough. As muichiro says, fatal blows are nothing if they can't touch you, many hashiras would just have dodged the blows and decapitated right away their enemies. Even with the miraculous help of poison resistance uzui was ovverwhelmed so imagine him fighting without a counter for the strongest feat of a upper moon

He also dealt the most damage to them and pinned Gyutaro down with one hand and no breathing techniques. Most hashiras are not winning this fight without being marked or being amped by the hta. That quote from Muichiro also came after he gained the mark beforehand he was caught off guard by one of the weaker Hantengu clones and didn't last too long against Gyokko toying around.

I want to say that Giyuu and Sanemi has the same speed, strength stats. Sanemi can be damaged badly, but survive it. And Giyuu can reflect all fatal wounds or even the whole attack. I personally think they are equal. Nearly equal slayers can awaken red blade by hitting each other's blade

Not that I hate tengen or anything but if he could barely handle a six and how long is he going to handle upper three. I know Akaza wasn't going full power but he was still stronger than Gyutaro in terms of strength, attack speed, combat speed, travel speed, durability, regeneration speed, and feats. Re read the series tbh. Rengoku almost killed Akaza without any help, or power ups after he had already spent hours using his breaths to defend five train cars from Enmu. He easily outperforms just about any Hashira except for Gyomei or Sanemi.

Yeah you’re right about all of that, but remember that the muzan obanai flight was already like 9000 years old and was coughing blood, the only reason that obanai was the only conscious hashira was cause he was the one with less injuries in comparison to the others, the muzan that fought all of the hashira at the same time was much stronger than the one obanai fought

Akaza was playing and rengoku got like big plot at the end. It doesn't scale to his other feats and akaza underestimated regoku's resolve after getting donuted. If akaza was serieus he would have killed rengoku and friends. What I would say is that rengoku would be top 4 if he got the mark.

I always say this as well. Rengoku is top 4 even if akaza was playing with him he got real serious when he seen rengoku holding him back from the sun. Everybody all needed help with the upper moon as posed to muichiro

The only thing, muichiro said "who makes you think that you were the only one not being serious" so he probably had strength to spare, and he also struggled as he tried to defend the kids alone, while Giyu almost got destroyed by Akaza even with the help of Tanjiro with sun breathing, and couldn't "win" until he awakened his demon slayer mark, and Tanjiro got his transparent world as well as learning how to use selfless state which was a direct counter to Akaza, so I think that puts him still below Muichiro, or at the very most, on par
