WHAT IS DISCUSSED IN THIS VIDEO:
After one year of using the tearrestore mask, there are some pros and cons to this warm compress. This warm compress can reach an optimal temperature to provide effective treatment to the meibomian glands. It can also retain this temperature for 15 minutes. The biggest benefit, is that this mask allows you to keep your eyes open and work while you do a warm compress. This also doesn't apply any pressure to the eyeball. This premium type of heated eye mask is recommended for your home dry eye treatment.

QUESTION: Do you use warm compresses? Is it part of your dry eye routine?
@carlosrojas3289

Have you tried or know about Blephasteam?

I don’t have a routine yet because I just started today but I was wondering if you could let me know what order I should do a routine in. Today I was told that I have clogged oil glands and dry eye and blaphitis (sorry I forget that word). So I have a eye spray to clean my eyes twice a day, eye drops I need to take 4x and day and need to use the heated mask at least once a day.

I absolutely use warm compresses routinely. It helps me read without my eyes feeling strained or just way too dry too quickly, but the improvement takes a few days to notice.

Great video, May have to add this to my arsenal, but have been loving the Eyegiene brand for night time, it is just super convenient to just tear open a refill and have everything I need by the bed. The refills are expensive but covered by FSA/HSAs at least. I just started doing it regularly a few weeks ago, and it is a great way to relax right before sleep and my eyes I feel are thanking me lol. Like the idea of the of being able to see with this one so might be my daytime option. Thanks for the vids!

Can you add a layer of wet cotton cloth (with cutouts where the eyes are) to achieve moist heat with the Tear Restore?

For the generic one, what if you empty out the beads and replace them with rice? Heating rice in a sock stays warm for a while 🤷

Best product I've purchased for warm eye compresses by far. I've been struggling with an inflamed L cornea for over 2 years now. Some background: I have a genetic condition called Cavernous Malformations; I was diagnosed with them in 1994 and in 2019 I underwent Cyberknife Radiosurgery for a lesion I had in one of my brain lobes, after having a side effect of the radiation, which was some brain swelling, I was treated with steroids which inflamed the cornea 2ndary to RK surgery I received on this eye in 1990. I have tried other masks recommended by my Ophthalmologist which was mediocre compared to the TearRestore mask. I recommend this if you're struggling with an advanced case of dry eye which is a form I have, this is an excellent product.

Hope you are doing well. AVM survivor here, also had Cyberknife and steroids; had no idea the cornea could be affected like that. I'd had my share of issues with my cornea already over the years so I know how frustrating and painful that can be. Wishing you the best. And you've sold me I think on springing for this system.

Thx for a good review! Those 43.6C measured at 00:55, is that just after heating up the mask or after ten minutes of use? How long would you say this mask provides therapeutic levels of heat, above ~40C?
@DrEyeGuy
@DrEyeGuy Год назад
Great question! That was at the 10 minute mark. But that was a fresh warm compress pack. I have yet to see how it holds up after 3 months of use. They do start to decrease in effectiveness and then it needs to be replaced.

@@DrEyeGuy Thx! I see. If you were to measure its effect after months of use, feel free to post it here! Do you consider this mask as effective as traditional warm compresses for hitting the meibomian glands, did you feel an improvement after starting to use it?
@DrEyeGuy
@DrEyeGuy Год назад
@R. W. I'll see if I can remember to check it here in a month or so. Yes, this warm compress is great. I feel like for me, being able to blink while doing the compress has helped me a lot. The tranquileyes mask is probably my favorite as far as working the best for me though.

I don't understand how this could fit every user without being adjustable. People have a pretty wide range of eye spacing, so what do you do if your eyes don't line up with the holes in the mask?
@DrEyeGuy
@DrEyeGuy Год назад
You're right, if you have really wide eye spacing, it would be hard to use this. The holes are wide enough to cover a range of PD's, but would be difficult with narrow and wide.

Best treatment method for a more severe case of Lid wiper epetheliopathy from dry contact lenses?
@DrEyeGuy
@DrEyeGuy 2 года назад
This can be a deep question. I would recommend a full dry eye evaluation for LWE. You could have multiple treatments. LWE is usually associated with MGD as well. Treatments could include steroid eye drops, punctal plugs, meibomian gland treatment, discontinuing or changing contacts.

I guess I don't see (no pun intended) how this COULD work, if the eyelids aren't being heated - is the residual heat from that far up on the face, good enough?
@DrEyeGuy
@DrEyeGuy 2 года назад
That's exactly what I thought at first. The heat does radiate from around the orbit that heats up the eyelids. It definitely works, but I had my doubts at first.

@@DrEyeGuy holy cow - thank you for the reply sir! Ok, I bought a USB heated mask from "Dr. Prepare" on Amazon, as it has labeled heat settings with temperatures, but I may get this one as well, just to try it out. I have MGD fairly severe and I can't get it to express, and I'd rather not pay $800 for that lipiflow (eyelid milker?) treatment again. I appreciate what you do, thank you again!

isnt the blurry vision is an indicator that the oil gland is getting normal ? i think your explanation need to do more deep research and re-post it again with correct one
@DrEyeGuy
@DrEyeGuy 2 года назад
I go over the reasons for blurry vision after a warm compress in my video about how to do warm compresses correctly, including the increased oil all of a sudden on the surface of the eye being one reason (is that what you mean by "getting normal?"). One of the reasons your vision can be blurry right after a compress on the eye, is the pressure and change to shape of the cornea. Which is one of the biggest benefits to the tearrestore mask, is that you don't have that issue. That is one of the purposes of the Tearrestore mask, to avoid the pressure on the eye. You can demonstrate this on yourself by force closing an eye for a while really hard and then opening your eye. Your vision may be blurry for just a little bit. That's not from the oil. Photographers deal with this. Eye doctors also deal with this is a patient closes one eye for one time while we are checking a prescription during refraction. We then go to check they eye they were force closing for a long time, and their vision is extra blurry for a little bit.
