The hotspot has a female type N connector, so the antenna needs to be male n-type or anything else with a matching adaptor. heliummart.com/mcgill-microwave-systems-6dbi-tuned-antenna-eu-868/ would fit, for example.

The SIM card module isn't supported in the Helium version of the device. Not sure if it's just disabled and could be enabled in a future firmware upgrade or if there is also a hardware difference. That had me confused as well, and I only learned that after asking Milesight directly about it.

@@ChristianRauchenwald also asked Helium about it (no answer yet) cause I thought I had missed something when trying to activate it. The simcard function was actually that thing that made me buy it, now when you telling me it's not activated I get a little irritated. Why don't they say that on their webpage? And why is the simcard module there?

Yes, but it's not ready yet. Here are the written instructions that you can also find on discord.gg/c7XxwzQZ Here is a quick setup guide that worked for me couple of times already: Praparation - go to resource.milesight-iot.com/firmware/61.0.0.36-r2.bin - this will download to your computer the latest firmware. Save it somewhere to have it easy to access. 1. Connect to GATEWAY_XXXXX WiFi - this is the hotspot itself. 2. Go to 192.168.1.1 and login with user: admin, pass: password 3. First thing - choose external antenna and change your password 4. Go to Maintenace -> Backup and Restore -> Factory Restore (I am not sure this is needed, but I do it just in case, with our first test samples we had some wrong configurations from Milesight's support that tested them before us and this was needed. For the production devices I do it just in case) 5. Device will reboot. Login Again with the original "password" and it will ask you to change your pasword again 6. Go to Maintenace -> Upgrade -> Upload the firmware that we downloaded in the begining and click install. Device will reboot again, login again. Now comes the tricky part. OPTION 1: If you are going to connect the device to internet with cable it is easy and for me the preferred option because it will have more reliable connection. Go to Network -> Interface and either change the IP according to your network setup and IP availability (this is more advanced, for people who know what they are doing) or change connection type to "DHCP Client" and the device will take its IP address from the router automatically. If needed reboot the device again. The easiest way to check if the device is connected properly to internet is to try and browse the internet while you are connected to Gateway_XXXXX WiFi. The device is a fully functional Router and Wireless Access point and if it is connected with cable to internet you will be able to browse as if you are connected to your home WiFi. If it is working go to onboarding. (see at the end). OPTION 2: If you want the device itslf to be connected to your network via WiFi (if you cannot provide a cable to the place you are going to install it) you need to go either through the OPTION 1 steps to set it up with cable to your router or connect it with cable to your PC. The reason for this is that at the next step we will change the function of the Wi-Fi radio to work as a client for the device and we can no longer use it as an Access Point. After you have the wired connection you need to disconnect from the device's Wi-Fi and connect through the normal network (or directly if you connect it with a cable to the PC). Now you need either to login to your router to find it's IP address or use an app for Network scanning (I use "IP scanner" for my Mac) and find the device's IP address. Then go to this address in your browser, login again to the device and - Go to Netwrok -> Interfece -> Second tab on the top of the screen is "WLAN", on the Work mode change from AP to Client and it will start scanning for networks and connect it to your Wi-Fi newtork. After it is connected you are ready. Onboarding: You will need you wallet address by hand (to copy and paste). Click on the top right of the screen "QR Code for onboarding" when a pop-up opens it will ask for yur wallet - paste it in the field (be careful not to have empty spaces in the beginning or the and and in the same time the address to be correct and full. Click Generate and when the QR code is generated you open Helium App, click on the + icon to add hotspot., choose Milesight UG65 (there are 2 Milesights choose the right one) and it will open you a screen with the camera working to scan the QR code. After that follow the app to finish the onboarding. Do not forget that after you finish the onboarding it will need some time to finalize the onboarding transaction on the blockchain. Go to your transactions tab and you can see the transaction as "Pending" after it finishes you will see the hotspot added to your app.
