"We have no reason to treat you nicely, and since there is, shall we say, a certain degree of technological disparity between us, we are going to disable your fleet now." 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
If you're going for Raid boss in Live Time Combat, then WoW has to be it. WH40K rule set doesn't really parse well with reality as we're long past the days of taking a shot then waiting patiently for the other side to do the same (roll dice). As the MMO that was the biggest, and still has the most influence of them all? And likely has more well known "World First Kills" for Raids... yeah... Leeroy Jenkins for the win. I just hope he had enough chicken to tide him over...
@@anon_lulz7334 I don’t know man. Almost everyone I mention it to recognizes star trek/wars in one form or another. When I mention wh40k they think King Arthur or mythology. I teach humanities in uni and I often cite those materials.
Wait.... are we the earth that got displaced to a lifeless universe? Right before we get to enjoy fighting ailens!? Wait... no, the sky looks normal. Damn, thats double lame.
@@ZpEB2741I’m pretty sure the ascended humans will try to create a DRG (dimensional rift generator) and locate the displaced earth and help them. Would be easy to do if you just make a few alien species. Then teach them lessons eventually making them be ready for assertion when that’s done just incorporate them and turn the now lifeless reality into pure energy for projects.
Well at least the mention of heresy didn't awaken the crusader spirit 😅. Just imagine the confusion of fighting humans in templier armour and shrugging off a shot or two😂
@@SythDracousTake up the pipe organ, of course. If building-sized instruments were inexpensive to build, we’d turn ‘em into co-op rhythm games and compete in teams. Some physical organ scores call for both hands and both feet, but I’m sure the instruments would get more elaborate with time.
I hate that they called it 'observation' rather than 'interaction', it leads so many people into thinking quantum events are magic god events where you commune with the divine. Observation in this narrow context merely means interaction. The 'observer' can be a single photon being absorbed and re-emitted by whatever is being 'observed', like an electron. No minds are involved, minds (or rather the substrate they exist on) probably can't even be small enough to participate in any singular sense. 'Quantum' also doesn't mean space magic where anything goes, it just means we're dealing with certain discrete quantities. That's not a pet peeve of mine though so I usually let it go.
How much you wanna bet Humanity will find SOME way to make Quantum mean space magic where anything goes? We’ll just whack the problem until it actually works. Humanity can and will break and remake reality. That’s just what we do. We don’t need really. Because WE SIMPLY ARE REALITY! An actual scientist: that’s not how that works… Humanity: *Somehow makes it work* Scientist: *faints*
To be fair, the core concept is basically a what if on a misconception of quantum physics, making the observation matter rather than the inevitable interaction because of observation at that scale. If it worked like actually quantum, the bots would need to be doing a lot more than thinking hard. Instead we just have countless simple minds thinking "I see X, therefore Y", with X being an observable phenomenon, and Y a desired outcome. Applied theology likely connects the dots between what's effectively mass produced prayer and mathematics that would need to cover both quantum and astronomical scales to not accidentally a black hole or something.
Better yet, it's one that I've seen misunderstood hundreds of times by math educators and multiple times in ACTUAL SCIENCE PAPERS. It's an embarrassment, seriously. "Observation" should be one of the most discussed and deeply studied things in all of physics.
Good Title. Nothing New Under the Sun is a Bible quote. And I must take another leap of faith. Really thought this was a new storyline. Great imagination brother. 👍
I was hoping, the alien will talk to his creator - some guy showing on a party, how cool is his job, creating with friends the most terrible alien having a lot of fun with that and accidentally clicked send. Yours "god" has a monstrous hungover, but we forced him to speak with you 😂
I always wondered whether a technology based on AIs generating sprulpa was a potential thing. According to this story, apparently so. And things are going to get WEIRD... 😂
An interesting philosophical speculation on 'The Observer Effect' being actually useful, and the strangest AI Singularity Concept that I have heard of. Using mass produced DUMB AIs to make Humans something like the Q Continuum is logical as explained, but it is just so strange compared to the normal idea of an AI Singularity = AI that are much smarter than Humans. I get the humor in this but basically the arrogant aliens are so weak and pitiful compared to the Ascended Humanity that I do not feel like laughing at their hubris and then humiliation.
humans really just asked the universe to do what they want nicely and it worked. also they pulled the "we mathematically proved you're an idiot" also also they turned life into a video game because its fun(ny). love this version of us, very silly guys :}
The one bit about these stories that irk's me is when future humanity gets all high and mighty disappointed parent as if they weren't shitheads most of history.
anathardayaladar is right. give us a break man. We aren't stupid toddlers forever. Do YOU want to be treated like a know-nothing child for your whole life, or given the opportunity to show that you have grown past your stupid/selfish/greedy/vengeful/narcissistic/self-centered/asinine/behavior, to learn to be better when there is no longer any scarcity, and dreams/prayers do become fulfilled? It's ok emry. WE all started as something else.
Obligatory 'Quantum Mechanics doesn’t work like that' comment: Quantum Mechanics doesn't work like that! The observer effect has nothing to do with intelligence, consciousness, sapience, or any other mental thing. It is just that particles interacting with each other change each other, in the same way a rock falling into another rock changes both rocks.
@@cewla3348 Schrodinger devised the cat idea in order to illustrate how ridiculous the idea is that the uncertainty principle could have effects like that on the macro world.
I know this is purely science fiction but that not what they mean in quantum physics when they say the observation affects the outcome. All it means is its impossible to observe something without physically affecting how it behaves. Think Heisenberg's uncertainty principle: You cant determine the speed and location of a particle at the same time because determining one undermines the other because to get one value you must disturb the system.
The Irony is that, usually the common WH40K player is not that sadistic to imposed their eff-up game universe to anyone in real life. Now, The Civ, The AoW, The MoO, or any other 4X players on the other hand...
This story remeber me on of hindu story where the seer sadu Rishi meditated and achieve many things just created an entire new universe by his own Power of meditation then he just merged it with this universe ya this is Human potential
IWSEFSJEFOLSEGFOP observer = interacter - the microparticles hitting the ships are interacters, the forces from the ship is an interaction, 99% of the things you can think of are interactions
Humanity finds out universe is empty also humanity well shit fuck it becomes literal gods out side of the universes controll but pretty much entire story is well mods he has oil call america
Naa stories like this is ruined when you understand the actual physics and the story is just nonsense… I’d much rather they hadn’t started the whole “observation” justification and just claimed “quantum makes it happen” as the excuse…
Wow! A science FICTION story has unrealistic and inaccurate science as it’s basis??! That’s preposterous, how in the world could someone right a FICTIONAL story without it being 100% realistic?
