Good comparison video. Keep in mind MOA (minute of angle) does not change at different distances. It is a measure of angle. What you meant to say is that the adjustment equals 1/2 or 1/4 inch at 100 and 50 yards respectively. These budget RD's just keep getting better and better.
Thanks for this rundown! Also excellent note on the mounts. I was just assuming the factory mount would be good but no recoil lug on an AR is clearly a weak point. Maybe you could post some links to the mounts with the right footprint for these optics that you like in the comments? There are like a million options out there and it's hard to choose. I will check out the reptilia brand you mentioned for sure.
The Vortex is on a Midwest Industries riser mount, it is way more beefier with two massive bolts, rather than the other two with a single and smaller bolt
The 403r is rotary knob and on or off no shake awake. But 100,000 hrs is like 10 years so doesn’t really matter there is no shake awake(one less thing to fail in my opinion) I’ve had mine on for over 4 years on setting 7 and still on original battery.
@@Kghost0311the 5 in my opinion is much more crisp, the Romeo 7s is nice but in a darker setting, you can see a red ring around the glass, which is many people’s complaint on the red dot. But the upside to the 7s is the availability of finding the batteries for it and the 50,000 hr battery life. It will probably last longer since it’s motion activated also.
@tyaj694 thanks I'm having a hard time deciding which one to go with. The battery, like you say, makes me want to use the 7s but I do want a decent daytime dot.
You forgot the Primary Arms Advanced 30mm RDS. Better than all 3. No shake awake, but it is the most durable with the best ergonomics, IMO, although the Sightmark Wolverine is pretty good too! (I have all 3 RDS you're reviewing.) Those 3 didn't last long (durability) compared to the other 2 I mentioned, for me!
@RobertMcCandless-nr7cv I miss spoke in regards to MOA yes. (I realize that now) but the click value does change when the target is moved from 100yards to 50, or whatever your preferred zero distance might be.
Thanks my friend you helped this very old man out!! I never used one, im a big game hunter, so rifle scopes are ny bag plus a long rabge shooter. However on the rance here i bought a ruger pc 9mm i like the Holson very much Thanks young man you can hunt with me any day for real, my young men come out and help me kill coyotes and hogs on my ranch in Texas. If you live in Texas hit me up ! Thanks again for your insights. 😊
@cowboywoodard2569 thanks for watching! And I’m glad I could help! I don’t live in Texas but I hear hog hunting is a blast down there. I’ll remember if I ever find a chance to get there though!
@jefferyboring4410 I think it depends on the size of the bolt. The typical t15 is not ideal and depends on your zero distance. It might be good at 50yards but then how does it do as you shoot out to greater distances. But also when mounting to the rail you need to push the optic forward toward the muzzle.
For the money the Sight Mark Wolverine is Amazing. It is built like a tank. Motion activated 50,000 Hour run time on a single AA Battery and a lifetime warranty all for $100.00 bucks. This is my choice all day. The Sig Sauer Romeo 7 is also amazing, but it is big. 62,500 hours of continuous use on a single AA battery on medium setting. Motion activated. 2 MOA dot comes with a high mount and a low mount and just $200.00 perfection on an AR. I like the AA Battery aspect because in a SHTF situation AA battery can be found just about anywhere.
@deancarrier124 I’m using the Reptilia t2 1/3 height mount on the Holosun. And the Midwest industries t2 1/3 height on the vortex. I can confirm both have had a return to zero for me. Only downside to the Midwest industries is you have to slide it onto the rail (can’t drop it on) so that mean removing iron sights or anything else that might be in the way.
Thanks for this comparison. I was split between the Sig and the Holosun, and I finally made a decision. Now I just need to decide if the multi-reticle on the 503r is worth the $50 premium over the 403r 😆
@I_Did_That_46 thanks for watching! Glad I could help! I have the vortex AMG with their donut of death reticle and like it. But no experience with it on a smaller optic. If you get it let us know how you like it.
@@Gristle111 Change the battery in every optic on the same day of each year for security's sake. Either on your birthday, Christmas, MLK Jr. day, whatever. Choose a day you'll normally have the time to do it on.
@paul2532 There’s a lot of good sites you can find them on sale at times. I wouldn’t recommend Amazon. I’ve heard/seen a decent amount of people get fakes out of there. Pretty much at this point though if you pay more than $125 you’re paying too much and not comparing sites.
