Recently, we took the seaplane to Dry Tortuga and it was such an amazing experience. We saw a lot of wildlife along the way and many islands. The guy that drove the plane guided us with a tour on the way. They include snorkel gear and a cooler. They provide drinks as well. I also recommend going to that island longer than shorter. The north beach was also calm with more sand to sit your stuff in. They had bush key closed off because the birds are nesting. Something to note, there are only a few changing rooms and sometimes hard to get in one if you need to change. One of the best experiences I’ve done in a long time! 🎉 thank you for your video!
Read about Fort Jefferson in a boating magazine. Wanted to visit ever since. I was looking up Dr. Mudd and you showed the plaque. That's a unique story. Love the video!
@@jimbluebaugh6090 thanks Jim! the history and beauty of this place is worth a visit. The Dr. Mudd story is interesting. We happened to visit Fort Jefferson on March 8 which is the same date he was released from being held prisoner there in 1869. Great to hear from you! Hope everything is well with you and the family!
It’s a special place. It does get booked up months in advance so it requires some planning. People can camp too but camping gets booked up a year in advance. Hope you can get out to see it someday!
I remember when boarding the ferry, folks with wheelchairs were boarded first so I believe it is but I didn’t pay attention when we got there regards to accessing the fort. You may want to call the yankee freedom phone number to confirm.
