I do believe that Snap-on is one of the highest quality of tools out there. And a purchaser will pay for a quality tool that will last for a while. But as a simple DIYer. I can’t afford it. For a professional working in the automotive industry, they could probably afford them and it would be used throughout the mechanics career. But I can’t justify for myself the cost. If I had the resources to purchase Snap-on, I probably would. However, I’m sure these pliers are of the highest quality. Thank you for sharing 😊
Thanks for the feedback. They do cost more and they are USA made but all tools end up benefiting in the long run as we see new ideas develop. Thanks for watching!
I own a LOT of tools. More than many believe when I tell them and then they see it. I only own one snap on tool and it’s the 9 inch version of these pliers. Worth every penny. Getting the 7 asap.
@@PK-zf9wm So I actually bought the 7inch ones shortly after I left my comment. For my preference if I could only have 1 it would be the 9inch and I would buy it first again. I suppose it depends on your intended use, but I have other pliers that could manage what the smaller ones do but none that could match the larger pair. And I have an obscene collection of pliers for a DIY guy.
After years of not innovating, it’s really nice to see him come out with something like this. I love my pair ironically use them for pulling fuses today and then I saw the video afterwards. Good for pulling. I’m not so good. Putting them back in.
Great review! I got the set, and I'm still discovering features on all of them.i found that the needle nose ones are great to pull worn-out screws, nails or bolts from tires so i stuck them in my plugs bag
You are one of the only other people I've heard actually refer to this type of pliers by the correct term of long nose pliers and not needle nose pliers. Most use the two terms interchangeably which they aren't
I think the Snap-On(Talon grip) is the best. The shape, the grip etc. Yeah..not cheap; but for so many years..(so than it's "cheap").. I gonna buy one.
They probably can't because they are new and the patent probably has not expired. I'm sure they would if they could. They are very popular. Thanks for commenting and watching!
Its a decent plier, but I honestly grab some no names I use just as often. The coin grab trick to me is just a trick, do not think I have had anything to were these will magically hold and others won't. Just because its usually already to heavy or stuck somewhere I cannot get that angle to do so. Fit and finish, yea its usual snap on, pretty dam good for a pair of pliers, and instant pitting even doing oil rub downs after use.
Agreed. The crosshatching does really improve the grip as well as the slip joint. USA Milwaukee pliers also have great crosshatching grip on long nose pliers. Thanks for watching. 👍
@@projectpinehills It does do a good job at that extra grip under other circumstances. I have a few from knipex and vamplier. I think our of the slip joint style it's my favorite because of the 3 positions instead of the usual 2.
I can see some benefit to having a nose that's more acute. It's a feature, not a bug! But shame they're designed squared, marked among the highest price points, and ground so poorly.
4:45: "I thought that was a marketing gimmick at first". Uhhh. Yeah, man. It is. lol. RU-vid user DIY Diesel released a video where he does the coin test literally with a 8 dollar pair of Pittsburgh needle nose from Harbor Freight. lol. Those Snap-On pliers are worth every single penny. But they are not unique in gripping precision as is evident by DIY Diesel's video. It's their pattern of tooth design on the inside gripping that's worth marketing, not the fact they can pick up a coin. lul. Anyway, good video. Keep up the good work. You've got a new subscriber. The video I'm talking about is titled "ICON Pliers (Coin Test) Will They Perform Like Snap-On Pliers??? (Suggested to Buy Snap-On LN47ACF)"
I saw that video. I'm sure it's a marketing move and apparently a good one lol. I agree on the tooth design. Thanks for commenting and thanks for watching!
I really like the shorter ones but I’ve yet to find my local snap on truck! I assume HF is only making the longer ones just like they did with the knipex pliers wrench icon 10 inch version. Once HF makes the 4 inch cobras and pliers wrench, they’ll probably take a lot of sales there.
I was looking at getting both the 9 and 7 inch versions and looking on Snap on website I noticed they didn't give a price or availability on the site for the 7 inch but a note to contact your dealer. Now sevthe red 7 inch only on the website. Seeing the play or mis-alignmen of the 7 inch on your video wonder if they have a manufacturing problem/ , Quality control issue
They had 3 colors in the 7" last week with the orange and green on backorder and now they only list the red. Hard to tell what's typical without having more samples of the tool. Thanks for commenting and watching!
@@projectpinehills yup. The pair I have there are grooves at the very top that go up the side and back of the very top. I'm thinking they may be for bending a loop for electrical connections. Maybe they don't all have them..
If you need the snap-on “gap” to remove a fuse... You have another issue on your hands 😂 I’ve never seen a fuse being removed from the side, usually you grab the centre (how fuse pullers work)
Man! My ln46acf are awesome but the cutters dont cut for shitt they were machined over too far and barely make contact which sucks cause all my other slip joints cut just fine even tho its kinda a caveman tool for makimg cuts but might try to warranty. My dealer is cool. And i like the orange pair might get a 47 pair in orange or power blue
