I feel like it’s the fact that barely anyone that appreciates today’s work It’s all the same with old school artists and more modern artists today: they put lots of hard work in their records and performances
Besides Michael Jackson & Prince, Bobby Brown was one of the biggest star at that time in the Music industry! Simply Bobby Brown was the King Of Stage! His Live concert tours were somethimg to see! Amazin Dancing & singing!!!
I know he felt good, not only getting an award after all the critics said he was crazy for tryna continue without being in New Edition but also receiving the award from his boys with the crowd on fire!
Around that time people in the music business & outside the music Business thought Bobby Brown was crazy for going solo & not staying with New Edition! His exit from NE to pursue a solo career paid off Big Time! Don’t be Cruel Album sold millions of copies & the it went platinum!!! Bobby Brown The king of Stage💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
Yeah I'm soooo happy that I was born in this era. I will never forget meeting my first love in the 80's and now married as well as raised on the same genre of music with him during this time. Now? We are able to reminisce on all music that we loved so dearly together.
Bruh swagg was dripping off 80s Bobby Brown..Always respect him not too many can sale as much as he did with Michael and Prince in the Game but Bobby Did
It was very wrong to boo Bobby McFerrin and Whitney Houston just because they crossed over to Pop radio. They want every Black singer to just stay in R&B, and that's not right. The fact is Pop music is short for "Popular Music", and it has never been all white. As a matter of fact, Ella Fitzgerald was the first woman ever to win the Grammy for "Best Female Pop Vocal Performance", four consecutive years. Judy Garland was the second woman to win. The next year Ella won again. Then Barbra Streisand won. As far as the Pop charts, The Platters went to number one the year after the charts were created, back in 1955. Those audience members should've studied their Music History before being rude and booing their own people.
TheLanard I agree with you! Some of the Fans up on the balcony that were booing Bobby McFerrin & Whitney Houston were expressing their ignorance! They needed education on the history of pop music!!
@TheLanard And it was even more ignorant being that Bobby Brown was the epitome of crossover success that year!! He had 5 top 10 hits from that 1 album, a feat only POP stars accomplished such as MJ, Janet, Bruce Springsteen, Paula Abdul, Madonna, George Michael and Whitney Houston!!!! Bobby‘s Don’t Be Cruel was the TOP selling album of 1989. So they should boo him too! 😒 ignorance is bliss I guess
@@joshuaafrifa8134 you had to tone your blackness down or not make white people uncomfortable; that's what some black artists were doing so the black community considered that as being sell outs. Bobby opened doors and shook the industry up because he didn't conform. My Prerogative only stayed 1 week at #1 because they purposely added it to pop stations late...they was hating.
people really forgot how large bobby was back then. he is the leader of the Chris Brown, Trey Songz etc. bobby was king. next to Mike he was next in charge. live bobby brown.
That is still the best album I love it I still listen to it to this day Bobby Brown is my favorite New Edition member this man went through a lot in his life I mean he went through a lot he had all kind of lemons and eggs throw that at him in life and he's still standing with his wife by his side and I'm so happy for him young Bobby Brown and he is a great actor they need to put him in more movies think I seem like five movies that Bobby Brown have parts in and he was really good and he's the only one out of New Edition that have been in movies and can act and Bobby Brown is the reason why New Edition is still revelant and 2022 you rock Bobby Brown get yourself healthy again
1989 was the year the real music and hits was on point back then plus Bobby Brown was the man and still is . Also 1989 was the year that he met his ex wife Whitney Houston ( Decease ) .
@@Marqui17 I have the awards on vhs tape. They got the story wrong. Whitney sat front row, Ashford and Simpson sat behind her, and across the auditorium Bobby Brown sat behind Anita Baker.
@@elytestatus Bobby and Whitney themselves got the story wrong? Its the story they themselves told ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-W7wD5cwo2jQ.html
I can understand feeling a certain way to some extent but the booing is really unnecessary. Anyway, wow I had no clue people felt that way about Bobby. He's a treasure. I wonder if he said something that may have gotten misconstrued back then. I was young so I was oblivious to a lot of this stuff.
Yeah and she turned that man's life upside down got him on drugs and got his sister on drugs then had dumb Brandy and Monica making songs about him saying it's all with these money Bobby Brown was doing good by yourself all his other love females he had around him just saying 👍
@@feistygrandma2636 Whitney did not get Bobby on drugs and Bobby did not get Whitney on drugs. They both were using recreationally before they met then after they got married it got worse. Stop spreading misinformation.
@@ilovelyrics6759 Bobby Brown was drinking heavy and smoking weed, and Whitney Houston's brother got Whitney Houston on drugs and she just passed it alone not only did she get Bobby on on drugs she got Bobby Brown's sister on drugs too
@@feistygrandma2636Whitney did not introduce Bobby to drugs bruh. How did Whitney introduce bobby to a drug he was selling as a teen? They both did drugs prior to meeting, it’s just that they were not deep into it.
@@ilovelyrics6759 even though bobby was selling the drugs, that doesn't mean he was doing em... But I do believe he was doing drugs prior to him meeting Whitney though
I was wondering if they were booing Bobby Mcferrin. I'm really curious as to why. They usually are more supportive than this but if I recall correctly Whitney got booed as well at one point. Then again the crowd might have been made of young fans but hell this ain't the Apollo.
He threw up the devil horn at the end. Wow. We must wake up. Yes it is sad. Some of our favorite stars sold out to become famous. But we were kids and didn't know. But its all coming to light. The bible says dont have idles. Im not knocking anyone. But it is time for my people to wake up and stop being sleep. So Im going to call it out everytime I see it. Wake up my people. Everything tjat glitters is not gold.
why they booing bobby mcferrin....come on black ppl support each other no matter their music or personal life romance choices (not sure that was it , but...)
Swing Mob929 I disagree. Mike Tyson was more famous than Bobby Brown. Mike Tyson had captivated the whole world at that time as a phenom. Any mention of Tyson in the press was always world news, even before the internet. Bobby Brown was just beginning to get his just do as a solo artist, which didn’t last long after his marriage to Whitney Houston. It was all infamous news after that. He blew up for sure, but he didn’t continue long enough in mega star status.
