i liked all those songs but i believe that anita and michael's songs were the two that stood out to me. only because you can play them both now and they don't sound dated....i feel those are always the best...the timeless songs
my homegirl anita has one of the best voices of our time!....though she is highly underrated ....one of my favorite songs...my favorite song by her....look at those shoulder pads!
It was a tough category, but the GYTB track was a big hit for Anita. Remember too it had big airplay on the R & B and the pop charts as well as 'Man in the Mirror' single. Additionally GYTB was a single as well the title of the album and her tour, so sales /chart wise it was 'big'.
OMG you are SOOOOOO right!!! And...ANITA BAKER!!!! Music has just gone so far off course since then...granted, there are a few good songs and artists....BUT....NOTHING LIKE THE 80s! :)
Anita's total snooze fest was not it! They also gave her best Urban Contempo. That was them playing it safe Keep her boring ass in the adult Contempo, please!! that year the Urban hits of Guy Vanessa Williams, Bobby Brown, ect..That whole "New Jack Swing Era" was lit. Fun fact: BB's "My Perogative" was just one of two jams Vanessa Williams was given to release, got pregnant and Bobby snatched MP and Pebbles stole " Girlfriend" thanks to the thirst trap himself LA Reid, and left us with the "The Right Stuff" bb!
