I miss seeing you make new videos, but there's only so many things you can make, I guess. Or maybe you are just busy. I hope the virus didn't hurt you or your family, and that you are safe. I also miss your sweet smile and sense of humor. You alway inspired me to make new things, and it makes me feel good.
When I first started to cook, I would watch her videos. I still remember her potato pancakes, they are very deeply remembered in my head. It was one of the first few recipes I have learnt to make. Today, I was finding a bread recipe and found her videos back, really brought back my memories 😭💕 sometimes you never know who you are making memories with, it could be a stranger too !😢❤
@@harrodsfan Since this video is the most recent one on her channel and it's 5 years old, I'm guessing Rhonda is saying that Jenny is no longer making videos.
@@bowed305 Nothing has happened to her, she was a show host for 12 years. This channel was created after her show ended but she's in her 70's now so prob retired hopefully. Her recipes will continue to feed thousands of people, honoring her legacy every single day!
Years later and I'm still using this recipe of course I've tweaked it to my perfection but for the most part the credit goes to Jenny. This is by far the best meatloaf recipe ever, you can use whatever ground meats you choose to or you can use a combination of ground meat. I've used the combination of ground sausage and beef, ground chicken. This Sunday I will be using for the first time a combination of ground beef and ground bison
Small edit to her recipe: When you sautee the onions and thyme in olive oil over medium for 5 minutes in the beginning, add the garlic in toward the end for about 30 seconds. You don't want to cook garlic for 5 minutes because it will start to taste bitter and not so good. Crisping the onions is fine but I wouldn't recommend it with garlic. Other than that, great recipe. 5 stars!
So true. And I see this mistake in many recipes. I alway lightly sauté garlic after all the other veggies, and then, only till fragrant. This meatloaf is a winner though. Jenny never disappoints!
Darlene Rothenay Yes, I agree about the garlic. If you overcook it, it will be bitter. I made this recipe, but I undercooked it. Since I made it, I bought an instant-read thermometer, so I'll give it another try and check the temperature more carefully. Nevertheless, it's a lovely recipe. I also do one thing differently, however. Once the meatloaf is cooked, I mix 1/4 cup of ketchup, 2 tablespoons of brown sugar and 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard, and I spread this over the meatloaf, put it back in the oven and cook it for another 10 minutes.
Adele Farough I use my instant read thermometer all the time. When making artisan bread, I even used it then. You will love it. It takes the guess work out of cooking!
I Have made this 2 times for my family and again tonight. I don't think I can bring myself to try another way. She is right, best meat loaf EVVVERRR, and doesn't feel guilty. She could have a recipe with bacon wrapped bacon and still make it sound healthy. My favorite cook!
I made this dish on February 2019. My grandson is 16, he tells me, “grandma, I don’t like meatloaf”. He tasted the meatloaf and said, “grandma, I like it”. My other grandson is 23, he absolutely enjoyed the dish. Thanks Jenny.
We miss your cooking lessons! But it’s also the way you talk, full of self confidence and humor. Did you think about just talking to us on your channel? Like just telling us stories?
Why isn't she on anymore. This was such a popular channel, but I guess after a while, you feel you've done it all. I wish she'd just come back once in a while to do something she's found is good. So much fun to watch and listen to her.
She has retired. She did mention somewhere in her video that she will retire and focus on other parts of her life. I guess health and age is a priority for her.
Last 10 minutes of cooking, I spread top with mixture of 1 cup ketchup, 4 tablespoons each mustard, brown sugar. Have used honey in lieu of brown sugar. Leaves a wonderful flavor on top. Widowed, so I slice and freeze. Put extra topping on slices for moisture and flavor and wrap individually. Thaw and heat in microwave. Tastes as if it just came out of oven. Yum!!
Just like mine except I also include celery. And as it reaches the right temp. I take it out, mix up ketchup, mustard and honey, brush it on the meatloaf and pop it back in the oven until it browns and the loaf reaches the desired temp. Also works if you make individual portions in muffin pan with large cups. Sometimes if I'm bored I'll add Frontera Chipotle Salsa to the meatloaf.
I make my sauce the same way but add a lil worcershire sauce. I also put salt pepper onion powder garlic powder parsley celery green onions garlic paprika lemon pepper and just a pinch of seasoned salt.
Jenny, girl you have almost 900K subscribers even in your absence. Obviously you would have a hugely successful RU-vid channel if you were back!! We love you!!
@@criseyde22 maybe for something better & bigger , or got to old for this shyt now, i remembered her back in 80s , when i was a kid..my parents used to watch her show off & on
I totally love the recipe! That said, I skip the oats and added sugar free ketchup. I actually get more fatty meat and use a regular loaf pan. I need that fat!! It's so Keto friendly and even juicer. Thanks for the recipe!!
Hi Jenny, this is undoubtedly the best meatloaf recipe I’ve had. I did not grow up eating meatloaf and found most variations a bit strange. Your recipe changed my view on it forever - it’s incredible!
Ok so Jenny you are right- this IS the best meat loaf ever! My daughter and I tried it from the pan once it came out of the oven and couldn’t stop eating it long enough for me to serve it. Thank you Jenny. I adore you and your recipes.
I made this meatloaf for supper tonight and we loved it! I made a delicious sweet glaze for the top. I brushed it on the last 15 minutes of cooking time.
In times like this that we are in lockdown. Because of Covid 19 virus. I'm now cooking at home. Thanks to your channel and your recipes it really helps.
By the way, Jenny, there is a meatloaf pan with holes in the bottom, which allows fat to drip down into a lower level. It works very well for meatloaf.
I have one of those pans as well. Works perfectly. The fat/grease is at the bottom of the pan away from the meatloaf. This recipe does look amazing tho. I will try ur version Jenny !! TFS
she probably knew she'd get comments about using oats instead of bread; which I'm open-minded about. Then there is the addition of dijon mustard, which I'd rather use than any type of vinegar.
As a teenager and child of the 90s nothing says 3pm or a sick day like Jenny Jones. Why is she not posting anymore? She had a hugely successful syndicated talk show for almost a decade. I have been in the rabbit hole of cooking videos and trying to learn and practice. She seems like she was ahead of the game with these videos. These are really great recipes
Jenny, I just wanted to let you know that I made your meatloaf! Although I didn't make it with beef, I made it with chicken mince and I had a Schwarz spice mix to make Spanish meatballs, which I also used, but I did everything apart from that, that you did! It has turned out perfectly and I am very pleased with it! I also after I made that, went on to make your granola bars, which have turned out very well indeed! I didn't have any syrup, but I did have brown sugar and I also had bramley cooking apples! So I decided to make an apple syrup and this also worked out perfectly! I am very pleased with the result! Thank you so much for the great recipes! Avril Easton X
Waiting out the virus, binge watching cooking videos. You’re one of my favorites - comforting food, comforting personality. I’m vegan and will make this using Beyond Meat or Impossible Burger instead of beef. I’ve used those products for recipes calling for beef and can’t tell the difference. Looking forward to trying this one. Hope you’ll come back and keep us company with more videos. Best wishes! 🌸🙏🏼
Yes its 5/2020 right now. I too have just found Jennys' Utube baking & cooking videos. I have alot to catch up on. I see she once had a cookbook, looks like its no longer in print, too bad I luv to collect Cook books. Hope to see u back if U can sometime. Stay well & safe Jenny
My first meatloaf is in the oven! Thanks for the recipe, Jenny! I hope you're enjoying your retirement and I just can't tell you how much I enjoyed your show in the 90's. I was a teenager and your show was like a window to a whole world I never knew existed. lol.
"Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light"😉 Oh, Jenny can! Her last words on the video were as good as she was in every, single one! You are the star! Ps Thank You for everything and wish You all the best❤️
Ma'am you're not joking, this meatloaf is killer. I added some mushrooms, swapped the oats for breadcrumbs, and used a little Tony's and Wei Jing instead of the salt and pepper but left everything else the same except some slightly adjusted ratios and it was exceptional. Your cook style with the foil on the pan is just brilliant thank you so much!
haven't tried the recipe yet, but sounds really good. I've seen several people suggest cooking your meatloaf on a broiling pan rather than a flat pan, to get the grease off the loaf
@Hester Green....Did you even bother making this meatloaf? Because I just did and it wasn't anything special, and far from the "best meatloaf I've ever had." It also spreads out flat on the baking sheet because the recipe doesn't call for enough oats (binder) to hold it together. It also just falls apart when you try to slice it. I give it a thumbs down. 👎
I think it’s absolutely amazing. Being from the south, I grew up on meatloaf and although I loved my mothers, I agree that Jennice is the best. It’s a great combination of flavors.
@@tennesseejustice1796 that's because you didn't use the special tin foil that removes saturated fat. I used it and then made a nice tin foil hat with the remainder.
I'm in awe that Jenny has a youtube channel! wow - she looks just like she did during day time show days. wow. I hope she starts to do more videos again! I'm loving all these recipes
It’s in the oven. I used 2 lbs of meat, 1/2 lb more. Then I got a little wild because I didn’t have ketchup. So I used cocktail sauce plus A1 sauce to darken the flavor. It’s really pretty. I measured it 5x16, so it’s not a cute little lump like yours. 5” is very wide. Hoping it cooks through. Update: this is the best meatloaf. I really liked it. I froze several meals out of it. Thank you.
Now I Recognize her & her laughter & her wit!! Used to watch her talk show All the time!!! She was then & Still is So cute! Love the Colorful & Simplicity of her cooking!!
That was the best ending to any video I’ve ever seen. I love how it never came back on, you are a very funny lady & a great cook...and so innocent looking, there is no way to anticipate some of the things you do & say. I love it! 💕😂
I just did this today...adjusted the quantities to the amount of meat...also used avocado oil for onion and garlic....replaced milk for oat milk ( lactose intolerant 😢) super awesome recipe! This is the only meatloaf I'll ever make....ever
This meatloaf is truly the best I ever had! I finally learned how to make a delicious meatloaf. The last one I made was not so good! Thank you for this awesome recipe.
OMG! I had such a crush on Jenny probably 30 years ago, and she's STILL adorable! I clicked on this without even realizing who she was... now I'm subscribed, so please keep uploading, Jenny! 💙
Hey- I love my son in law and my daughter doesn't cook-I make this for him every time they come down. I spoil him, I don't eat it cuz I'm vegetarian but I do make it for him and he LOVES it. Thanks< Jenny
I'm trying your recipe. Like the idea of using oats instead of bread crumbs. Just picked basil from my garden. I had a neighbor stop by the house after he smelled the aroma of peppers and onions frying. Hope it will be great!
Jenny, I just totally love your genuine honesty!! “Maybe you should take your meatloaf and (bleeeeeeeeep)” 🤣😂. Back in the days, I enjoyed watching your talk shows and wished you didn’t stop BUT, I am glad I found you doing this cooking RU-vid show!! ❤️🥰
@@lienbijs1205 My late husband was the picky eater who would not eat any vegetable other than okra, and green tomatoes, and he would eat those only because I could fry them for him. I loved Sheila‘s comment about pulsing vegetables to add to the meatloaf. And as you notice, eating your vegetables does seem to make you live longer!
Hi Jenny! I grew up with your face on my mom's television and I have always loved you! I am absolutely ecstatic to have found your recipes. I have missed your voice. Sending all my best wishes to you and yours. Thank you for all of the recipes and memories. 🤟 I'm nearly tearing up just hearing your voice again after so many years. It reminds me of the earliest years my mother started teaching me how to cook.
You have produced some excellent high quality videos. Where are you Jenny?.? need you back w more incredible recipes. (The ribs, the bread, meatloaf) mmmmm! We really enjoy your flair, talent, style and humor. Hoping you return soon. Big fans. 😊

Oh my gosh, I knew this Jenny looked familiar. She's Jenny Jones and I do remember her. I was sad to read that she had retired from doing RU-vid videos but I totally can understand. Anyway thank you Jenny for not only great videos to make good foods and Breads and everything else you shared, thank you also 4 the funny and joyful ways you presented your recipes. I really have enjoyed them and look forward to making a lot more of them. I'm a subscriber so I'll know if you ever decide to make more of them. God bless you.

I'm so glad you said something about her talk show, because I have watched several of her cooking videos on RU-vid and it didn't dawn on me before that that's who this was.
Love her. This is the first recipe of hers that I saw (years ago) and it was delicious. I’ve made a lot of her stuff yet if any of the videos pop into my recommendations I watch them again ❤ EDIT: I see a comment of mine below from 5 years ago and I wouldn’t change a word 😍
