Question of the Day ⚡ What do you think about the different types of microphones? Let us know! ***** 📌Check out the list of mics here: kit.co/SeanCannell/best-mic-for-youtube-under-100 ****** Watch our FULL Review of the Deity V.Lav Microphone HERE ➡️ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pS5CgOOidBc.html
For everyone out there who is considering starting a RU-vid channel and is hesitant because of the cost, don't be. I was able to pick up a second hand rode mic for less than half the cost of a full price one, alongside a suitcase and spare battery. Be smart. You don't have to spend a lot of money to be a RU-vidr!
Thank you for this. I was looking for a mic that would work for my 9-year-old who is on the Autism spectrum and likes to create scientific presentations and then narrate them. Because he uses his hands a lot, a stationary mic in front of him wouldn't be great. So your info actually informs a lot more than you might have anticipated. Plus, I am working on a collaboration with a composer for our family blog to allow kids on the spectrum to record lyrics to music and this is a great resource to inform them as well. Thank you!
Got the Deity d4 and for $100.00 it’s the best value for the money. First for being so compact it’s a beast. Second, being able to use it on the camera and pick up the audio from in front of the camera and my dialogue from behind the camera makes this a two for one!!! Third, like you said I can boom it or use it as a lav, makes this mic a must have.
To that special brother and sister scrolling down. In case you need a reminder today: you are worth every happiness, you are stronger than you think you are. May you soon shed tears of joy in replacement for all the struggles mentally, physically, spiritually 20/20 year hand you!
Rode mic is rich, full and natural while the Samson is full with ultra clarity. The least for me is the v-lav. Shotgun is in the middle I like the Rode mic. Nevertheless, they are useful for specific events and purposes. I am using boya lav for now. But I might upgrade to this Rode 🎤. I love the outcome. You did well on this, Omar. Great work. 👍👍👍
I needed this video right now. I'm feeling okay with the visual aspects of my videos, but, I'm not sure that my audio is where it should be. Thanks for this!
@@ThinkMediaTV what the best microphone to get I got one what not shown in video but not happy what I got I’m gamer and don’t know what be good is Samson good for that
Haha, wish this video was up about a month ago. Starting my channel again (600+ subs & 15 videos in) and learning about mics was an interesting experience! I ended up buying the Sony ZV1 and have been using the built in mic with dead cat and will use that for now. This video has been super helpful, thank you!!! I've never seen you without a hat, it's a good look. I use a Deity Vlav for talking head/vloggy type content and a Blue Yeti (with a pop filter) for voice-overs
as ALWAYS OMAR YOU NEVER FAIL A VIEWER! A TON OF THANK YOU FOR THIS! but i have a question since i record my discussions in the classroom (physical classes) for those who are absent so they won't miss a thing, does a lavalier mic record simultaneously with the video or do I still need a software to sync the video from my Nikon Z30 with the audio from the lavalier?
thank you for being able to explain the differences of the mics and it was able to help me decide on what type I will be using since I'm just new to vlogging. :)

Hey Omar and ThinkMedia - Got a Question for you! :) Bought the Rode VideoMicro for something affordable starting up just to get clean audio. So the question is: How do you get clean Audio out of it? Plugged it into my computer to see how the recordings sounded and there is so much white noise/static in the background?? Really confused me and haven't found any good fixes in my research yet, so I'm hoping you can help out as it sounds as if you got clean sound out of it. Thanks :)
@@TMBRACK It's definitely not going to be perfect, but I didn't have a mic before, and my audio had a lot of echos, so it did help with that and helped cut down on background noise.
Got the Boya MM-1 for roughly $12 here in the Philippines. We use it to eliminate background noise (though looking for something better) for an ASMR feel video
Lav microphone Boya M1 was great when I started out as a new RU-vid content creator. However I question the durability. Suddenly the mic stopped working when I hook it up to my Canon M50 camera. I bought new batteries, checked it is set to camera mode. Still not working. Have you experienced this with your mic? I have now abandoned it. I would really appreciate your views on this. Happy New Year 2022.
Thank you so much for a straight forward and interesting video. Saved me a lot of time of researching. Sound quality was excellent even on a large TV. Thank you 👍
I have started a RU-vid channel couple months back, but my audio is not that great. So came here to find the what kind of mic I need. Thanks for the info.
I love the richness of the dynamic mic, but what you said makes sense. It IS better for a radio show or an audio podcast. I don't understand how the XLR is meant to be used on it. Do you power the mic through USB and then carry the audio signal through the XLR into an audio interface?
The xlr is just there if you want to use it with a mixer board or interface - I like that it has the option but also that you don’t need to use it that way
Thank you very much for your videos. I decided to buy the Samsung Q2u microphone based on your video. I am taking sight singing and vocal lessons via zoom. The sound keeps breaking up on my laptop and the teacher and I are having sound issues and didn't know why. I'm hoping that this microphone will correct the issue. I'm trying to get into a professional choir and I really need these lessons 😩. I went through the link and purchased the microphone. Thank you for your video. I'm hoping that this works.
Audio is very important but most people are good just as long as they can hear what’s going on. The subject matter is what holds people’s attention in the very beginning of any podcast.
I use a rode video mic and a lav mic. I notice the lav mic moves around you have to be pretty much talk right to it. But Im new to this still lol just my experience
You only mentioned noise canceling for the dynamic mic, but how are the Rode and the Diety in that regard? I currently have 2 mics and both pick up the fan and the AC, so noise canceling is top priority, but I’d like other options aside a dynamic mic.
I have the exact same issue and since I live in a very hot country and I have asthma, I really need at least the fan on.. I have a boya-mic, which has different settings of receiving the sound, but all of them pick up the fan, even if it's not aimed at/hitting the microphone at all.
I like the first boom mic however I think if you had run tje laveleer mic to your tee shirt collar it would have been a nice clean caught audio IMHO. Great video though.
Question: What did you plug the rode microphone into and what software did you record/edit it on? Mine is sounding wayyyyy different than what your's sounds like. I am plugging my rode into my macbook through an adapter, so i do not know if that might be the problem for the bad sound quality. Would appreciate your response
New youtuber.... new subscriber💯👏🏼✔ I like the mic that's directly infront u because its clearer... however 4 me it would ave to be the road mic... as i do mostly vlogs..
Everyone seems to have the Rode Video Micro flopping around on their lens for some reason. The cable is designed to click into the notches on the thumbscrew so it does not move.
Thank you Omar! Love the sound of Samson Q2U the best. Still confused about how the set up is to connect to the iPhone. Currently, I'm using Blue Yeti on Macbook for Guided Meditations. It sounds good too but does pick up lot of the external noises. For yoga classes, I'm using apple airpods. Not the best but good enough. Looking forward to leveling up soon.
Thanks for all information. I am looking for a mic set up on the computer desk. You recommended Samson Q2U one year ago. Do you have updated information? Thanks.
Well to answer your question, i recently went to look at mics in best buy and they just dont have that clip on mic that i refer, and the others are for more games, the Rode shoot gun mic is what they are pushing and kind of stocked on, But if i get that mic out it on a cam then i would need that extra cord you spoke of rewind, think needs to think about offering training for their cam and mic employees
Your videos are super helpful to me, thanks! I have an iPad 12 Pro Max and a patient parishioner video’d my sermon yesterday, from the second pew back (not too close.) We have a pretty basic sound system with a microphone on the pulpit. If I add an external mic for my recordings, will I have an issue with feedback? What if I use a corded lav mic (my preference)?
Love the lav mic, but it would be better if you leveled the audio of all three mics for an accurate comparison. Sounded like the lav could have used more gain.
Rode VideoMicro IS NOT a shotgun mic. It has a standard cardioid pickup pattern. Shotgun mics require an interference tube to work as shotguns. VideoMicro has nothing resembling one.
After reviewing many microphone products on RU-vid I came across a conclusion is that in order be a good and high quality content creator on e.g. podcast, RU-vid and digital courses I should invest at least on purchasing like 200$ microphone to start my online business, what do you think?
Hey I love this video. Quick question! I just bought a Sony a600 and I plan on doing live streams on RU-vid. Do I need a camera mic AND mic to hold next to my mouth?
Great info as usual, HOWEVER, what if I'm recording into my macbook pro? The last few mics I had didn't even show up in the sound section of my preferences. Can I just plug any of these mics in and they'll work? Or is there something in between that is required. I'm so frustrated about this. No one ever talks about what to use if you're filming on an iPad pro or a laptop.
