I had multiple listens to each microphone, and for me there are two that clearly stand out - the Pyle and the Melon Audio. Really suprised by these two! Also, if you enjoyed this video, please don’t forget to SUBSCRIBE 🫡
Imo the pyle and melon mics sounds good to me. But overall they all have their own unique sound signature! Pls review more budget mics and maybe budget audio interfaces?.
Thank you for this video. I'm thinking about getting back into making music & am interested in going with the Melon Audio. I do kind of wish they hadn't raised the price to 79.99 (is at least on sale for 59.99 right now) but they must be selling like hotcakes for good reason.
Great stuff, Mr S - but wouldn't it have been more useful to have used the different mics for recording all the earlier commentary (that I'm guessing you used your bestest mic for??) sections?
Im eyeing the melon audio mic a lot, I like the sound, but there are a few problems. I dont know if the microphone fits on any shockmount I have and also there are no reviews on the amazon. Also its hard to find on the internet in general, nobody knows about this microphone. All i need to know tho, is if it can connect to a shockmount. either the 4cm (1.57 inch) holding in mid midair or 1.5cm screw on type
I'm honestly stuck between the Maono and the Melon... They both sound really nice to me. Can the Maono attach to a boom arm though? That would be my main point of concern since I hate having it on my desk.
@@EdwardSmithMusic one last questio, i do have the budget to go for behringer c1u as well. Will that be a better option? I noticed it has a frequency response till 16khz and not 20
It’s definitely better than compared to these budget mic’s. I believe that comes with Shure software but it’s pretty basic meaning it’s more beginner friendly for people that don’t want to use a DAW. But if you’re recording vocals you’ll probably want to find software that you’re familiar with… like Logic Pro or even GarageBand
@@EdwardSmithMusic on Amazon, unfortunately, links in comments are not allowed. Actually is costs €94, that is $102. All other models, but Melon Audio, have quite similar price in European Amazon. I don't know why.
The latency on these are very minimal. I recorded these into voice memos on my Mac, then exported the tracks, converted them WAV. Then imported the audio into Cubase… Tried to keep things simple 🫡
so as i expected these mics are not showing up in a DAW as a source to record ? Its only usable for OBS. Maybe you should make clear in the Video what a limitation this is.@@EdwardSmithMusic
Hi. I snagged the Melon. The price did drop. Not sure I'll use the echo feature, but I like that it's USB-C interface and having the headphone jack on the bottom of the unit. Have you ever used the echo feature? If so, for what?
I actually spent quite a bit of time with the Melon mic. For me, the echo feature is nice for singing and once you use it, you’ll see it’s just a fun add on feature. Once you get it, let me know what you think 🫡
@@EdwardSmithMusic I've been testing it. Had to dig around in my Windows 10 settings to get my laptop to stop using the built-in mic. As a newbie to these mics, it seems very sensitive to the sounds made by messing with the knobs, muting & adjusting the boom arm. Should I be using an app or just stick to Windows/ Realtek defaults?
