I honestly prefer the Casio. I love the small seconds complication on it.

Ben, making the right choice is never easy. I prefer the Casio. It looks a little more classy with the creamy dial colour and Sapphire glass. I love the Indiglo of the Timex too. Choices to make....

Quality wise its the Casio, but design wise I'd take the Timex

I think the Casio is more playful and it would attract a younger audience. Timex has the classic clean look that would look better with a smart casual attire. My opinion is purely on looks though as I would 100% choose a mechanical/automatic watch rather than a quartz movement. Great review as always mate!

Love the Casio one, it looks sleek at 7 mm. But I do wish the minute hand is a tad bit longer. Have one almost similar watch from casio without the sapphire, MTP VT01L, the minute hand is also shorter there though

It's the case material that makes me lean toward the Casio. However, as of Jan. 2020 forget about finding it.

I considered Casio Sapphire for a while because it sounded like a real bargain for the price, but as time went on my instincts just told me that I didn't really want it. I don't know why to be honest. Maybe the design didn't appeal to me or because I'm very happy with the watches I already do own, and the sapphire glass would just be a gimmick to me. I also considered Timex for an even longer time (no pun intended), but even when bought from Amazon it will be the same price as the ones on their website because of the shipping to my country. Again, I'm also happy with the watches I already have Both watches are great though

Just got the Weekender Fairfield and I really enjoy it. Simple watch that you would not be worried about it you broke because its not expensive.

Thanks for the comprehensive review. Both seem to be great watches. You stated in several occasions that the second hand tends to be imprecise in sub (or around) 100-Dollar watches. What about a watch with no second hand? Staying with Timex, I am thinking something on the line of Norway 40mm Leather Strap Watch OR Norway 40mm Stainless Steel Mesh Band Watch Do you have an opinion on the matter?

Just ordered some Timex Fairfields in the 37mm variant along with some straps bc it's Cyber Monday (25% off). However, after watching this video I searched like crazy for these Casio Sapphires and couldn't find any like others have mentioned in the comments... If I had found some online I would've considered cancelling my Timex order bc of the comparison in thickness of the watches! I'm hoping the Timex Fairfields I got aren't as thick as they look in all these videos.

It's perfectly fine if you end up with the conclusion that it's just a matter of preference. For a lot of people (like me) I just want to know if one is considerably better than the other, now that I know there isn't, I can just make my pick.

Hello Ben, on seeing your review I have ordered 37mm Timex since I have a small wrist. But when I got it I was really dissatisfied. The band width is not proportional for a men's watch. Hence I returned it.

Here, in Australia, I found a Timex Fairfield but it was called the Timex Weekender Chrome Watch TW2R26300. And that’s the one I recently bought, i.e. the 41mm version. I couldn’t find the Casio watch online.

I got the Timex, also I haven't found this Sapphire anywhere in my country or Amazon US. It's a tad too big for my wrist but it's beautiful.

A Casio analogue with is a sub dial! Is there anything they can't do? You could carry it off at a black tie do and nobody would care! (Because nobody else was smart enough to get one?) Timex equally are pretty good! I have an indiglo and that to be fair is something Casio don't do?

I'm quite keen on the Casio MTP-E133L. It's almost the same as the Sapphire, but has a more minimal design and a slightly smaller (38mm) case. It's lower quality though; it has printed markers and mineral glass. Shite strap, like everything at this price point. Dirt cheap on Amazon, £22.51 right now! Might be a good choice while the price of the Sapphire is jacked up.
