great overview! having been down the gridless musicmaking outside rabbit hole and back a couple of times my 2 cents: leave the gear at home. enjoy nature without phone. recharge your brain an dears. sun+any display/screen always sucks. do your machine music work at home. get some zoom recorder for fieldrecording, or yourself singing in that cave. save the Money for a trip to somewhere youve neverbeen.

iOS music is the answer for so many - RU-vid generally features expensive hardware running software that has a pretty similar equivalent. iPads are the way!

The K.O II is toyish, the Circuit Rhythm is monophonic, the SP 404MK2 is unintuitive, the Push 3 needs more cooking. However the MPC Live 2 is a total beast. There's basically nothing this fully fletched DAW-in-a-box can't do. Use it with a Magma CTRL case that doubles as a sunscreen when going outside and you've got yourself a really inspiring and liberating music making experience. I run an iPad using Logic Pro and Koala Sampler as well but the problem with iPads is the horror of hubs. You basically need them, which makes music making on an iPad a considerably less mobile and more unwieldy experience than people might think.
