Thank you. Too many golf channels don't cater to mid to high handicapper. You guys do. Thank you👍🏾

Just found this video. It is a fantastic video that speaks to the average golfers. With no disrespect to Neil, I believe the data would be more relevant if the tester could actually swing the 7 iron at 75-80 MPH. This category of HC golfer can only dream to hit their 7 iron to carry 180+ yards. I believe the drop off, carry and spin data would be quite different and may lead to different conclusion. Just my 2 cents.

Hi I've recently bought the eleven golf hybrid irons , they are amazing , great value for money , kbs shafts , I got 7 - PW, second hand off eBay, so impressed, I went to main website and purchased the 5 and 6 , very forgiving and to be honest more golfers should give these a go

I got fitted into JPX923 HM HL, despite having a 7i swing speed of 90 mph on average. The reason for this was the better lofts, with the regular HM irons the distance was ridiculous with a pure strike, and didn't give the ball flight I wanted to see. Consistently my shots with the HL clubs launched better, had more control, and gave me carry distances that were more manageable. I personally think it's remiss to say that they are for slower speeds only.

I recently bought the Sub 70 799 which plays a lot like the Cleveland Halo (I tested the Halo at a retailer). I sold my previous Callaway Rogue X (introduced in 2018) which had 27* loft 7-iron, and don't miss them at all because I was rolling off the greens for lack of stopping power. My 7-iron swing is 75-80 mpg, and now I get an descent angle range of 45-47 degrees so I hold more greens now. My carry is about 150-155 yards. I have a golf simulator in my home so I know the stats. Too bad you could not test the Sub 70 799 because I think it is every bit as good, but beats all these on price. I paid US90 a club ($630 for seven irons) which included head covers, Sub 70 cap, some tees and free delivery (I don't know if this applies outside of the U.S). There is a Sub 70 in Hereford, England that I think ships to Europe. Sub 70 is a direct to consumer brand so it is best to know your specs, and they have many head and shaft options.

Thanks for your input Chester, we have several Sub 70 irons, fairway woods and hybrids on test this year, they've done pretty well, not quite sure why they didn't send the 799 as you mention. Completely understand where you're coming from, Simon is just switching out of a set Rogue X to something more lofted too.

To echo some of the other comments, it's a bit of a waste if time reviewing high handicapper irons when hitting them at club and ball speeds a high handicapper cannot achieve. You will get very different comparative performance between 75mph and 90mph clubhead speeds. I get that you need consistency you need a decent golfer, but why can't a pro take enough swings to get 5 good swings at c. 75mph? I've seen some reviews making recommendations with a 7 iron swing with a 185yd carry - totally irrelevant for the target golfer most who struggle to carry 140!
@aponoypi

plus high handicappers with slow speed will have a regular flex graphite. i agree the 7 iron will be less than 150 yards. at 75 mph isn't a senior flex more appropriate?
@anthonyfarmer8387
@anthonyfarmer8387 Год назад
Really need to swing at 75mph if that is the target audience to see expectable distance and stopping power (spin, height, descent angle). The seven clubs are an interesting concept, why are they so much cheaper than a “normal” hybrid and how would the performance compare on e.g. 5 hybrid and 4hybrid (at 75mph)?
@todaysgolfer
@todaysgolfer Год назад
Understand where you're coming from Anthony, but each of the models came with a stock stiff shaft (the same spec we use for testing all irons), so swinging at 75mph wouldn't be a fair reflection of how they perform. Also not all irons within this category are aimed at sub 70mph speed players. We'd argue you're much better hitting all models with one player (like we have), narrowing models significantly to those that could be of interest, then going to try and get fitted for those that interest you most. Hope that explains.

Perhaps learn how to swing at a slower speed consistently for super game improvement clubs. Otherwise it becomes a mostly meaningless comparison test.

Would you recommend the Stealth HD, the Launchpad or the Halo XL. Looking for more consistency especially from a variety of lies.
@todaysgolfer

All are good choices, it would be worth hitting a few shots with each to see how you get on with the different sole widths. Both the Launch Pad and Halo will be two years old here in the UK, come this winter so they'd be prime candidates for an update next year. If that makes any difference to your decision?

I own both Halo and HD and played with them extensively. As a matter of fact, I’ve played just about every iron over the years, including hickories mashies. By far the best consistent performer is the Cleveland Halo. If you can get over the looks issue, I’d strongly recommend Clevelands. The HD would be my second choice, but don’t like the offset too much.

Are you thinking Mizuno JPX923 Hot Metal HL? Or Ping G430 High Launch? We'd be thinking about it like this. If you're after a looker with long lasting appeal, it would have to be the Mizuno. If you are after ultimate performance for a high-handicapper and looks don't come into, then by all means fill your boots with the HD. Hope that helps?

I can’t see how a pro’s swing can test a club designed for high handicappers. The notion that he can’t play a 7 iron that carries 190 is ridiculous. Of course he wouldn’t it’s not designed for him. Titliest make the T100 !!! The T400 carries fine for slower swing speeds but gives an extra 20 yards. It has a good peak height and stops well. It’s spins plenty otherwise it wouldn’t carry 190 yards! The club is head and shoulders better than the other hybrid clubs for feel and quality. The Elevens I am sure work well and the TM and Mizuno are great. Any well renowned club maker who enters this category will make a great club.The question is what you need it to do and that is swing dependant. Try them all but be open to what works for you. The shaft options for each will also be critical because although the club head is good it will only work well if the shaft matches it and your swing.
@todaysgolfer
@todaysgolfer Год назад
Thanks for your input Adrain, completely understand where you're coming from, but by testing all the irons on the market with a single player is a great way of seeing how much models vary, and helps understand the differences (ie stronger or weaker lofts) between them. Probably worth saying the irons in this category were tested with a stock stiff shaft from each brand, like all of the irons we've tested for years, so they weren't set-up for slow speed players.
@adrianlovett3483
@adrianlovett3483 Год назад
@@todaysgolfer I totally understand, another channel 2nd swing used a higher handicapper to do the tests with regular/light shafts which these clubs are probably designed for. The results are a better way of determining what us mere mortals might prefer.I think My golf Spy to the same. Might be worth trying next time.

@@bristolreiki lol I know. In my mind, if one is talking about data in a table then leave the table on the screen and point to the exact data and discuss. What's the point of briefly flashing the table and then showing Neil hit balls, and then repeating every 10 seconds? I feel like I'm developing ADHD watching these reviews. 😄

Why when you test a club made for moderate slow swing speeds use someone with a moderate slow swing speed. totally pointless testing with someone who can hit a 7 180 yards.
@todaysgolfer
@todaysgolfer 11 месяцев назад
It comes down to consistency. If you're looking at comparing any club, irrespective of speed you need consistency to make an accurate analysis. Consistency is way more important than speed. It really is that simple. And all of these samples are fitted with stiff shafts. By all means use a slower speed player, but if they're hitting shots all over the face, you need every iron to be hit all over the face (in the same locations), or else the data you create is utterly meaningless. Hope that explains.
