what about aussie moist? also the tresseme 2and 1 shampoo and condition is difficult to find/they may have changed the product, i see 7x curls in its place and think that i see protein in it
- Garnier whole blends shampoos the entire shampoo line, but listed a few that had top reviews (honey, coconut and cocoa, avocado and Shea butter) - suave almond and Shea -suave Shea butter and pure coconut oil sulfate free
I would love to see a future video on sulphates the same way you did silicones. That silicones video helped me find a good conditioner that is within my price range.
Girl! I’ve been waiting for you! My prayers have been answered! As a Middle Eastern girl with thick, curly hair. I’ve been on the hunt for a moisturizing shampoo and I just can’t find anything. My hair is just so dry/course. Everyone in my family has coarse curly hair but I wouldn’t say that my hair pattern has changed. My hair is just so dry and coarse
I come to you everytime I need/want to buy new hair product. Pause reads labels. Play. Reads screen. Rewind pause. And so on for 20 minutes. LoL I'm studying like Miss just said 'This IS going to be on the final exam' I just double checked ingredients on a set I grabbed on a whim from DT. And lo-and-behold, it meets the specs. $1.25! Now I'll test to see if the actual formulation is any good for my hair. Thank you so much for this information. 🙏🏾 Appreciate you.
As a college student who enjoys chemistry, wants to pursue a career involving hair care science and product development, and is currently shopping around for a moisturizing shampoo, I really appreciate this video/series! I look forward to watching more of your detailed and informative videos.
The Innersense Hydrating Hairbath is amazing! You only need a small amount, it helps to add water weight, I can start with detangling with this too and the lather is unreal. If you don't want to commit to the full bottle too they have tester sizes which I did when buying a styler and the conditioner.
I love that shampoo as well!!! Is sooo worth the price!!! I have used it consistently now for 2 straight mth where I wash my hair 1x week & I do 2 washes.. & I still have half a bottle left! CRAZY!
Nice to see you again, Afope ☺️ My current shampoo that really works for me is the KC by KeraCare CurlEssence Moisturizing Shampoo. It's pretty affordable but my hair always feels clean yet soft and manageable after rinsing it out.
I was literally just about to comment this!!! I’ve only just started using it, only used it a couple of times, but my hair felt so soft and conditioned after.
I used it and it worked but the consistency isn't what I'm used to...too thick! The kind of description I have of it is very hilarious 🤣🤣🤣 I love a shampoo that isn't too thick or thin; just right in between. However, I love the leave-in from the same line.
I’m relaxed but here because Afope gives such great info probably the best….. anyway the KC CurlEssence shampoo is IT! If you want moisturizing and no protein….my hair loves protein but I alternate with this.
Glad your back on RU-vid🤩 !! I love the Camille rose sweet ginger shampoo and I’ve just checked and it has at least 2/3 of the ingredients listed in the chart.
I love your videos! Like always they are very informative! I have 3 shampoos that are my favorite at the moment: 1- Adwoa Beauty Baomint Moisturizing Shampoo 2- Innersense Organic Beauty Hydrating Cream Hairbath 3- Camille Rose Sweet Ginger Cleansing Shampoo.
Curlsmith essential moisture shampoo is the TRUTH! Has everything except the cleansing agent. But still felt like it cleansed my hair well without drying it out or tangling it AFTER rinsing out! Loving your channel!!
Just discovered your amazing channel. Such useful and science backed advice. I have highly porous, fine hair and have been using all the wrong products. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! 😊🙌
Rizos curls shampoo is very moisturizing for my fine high porosity hair. It leaves my hair soft and easy to comb. I love a good lather to my shampoo and it delivers even with hard water. It smells really good, and rinses well. The deep conditioner is also a winner for my hair. They’re pricey, though.
I'm a weirdo who uses 2 shampoos, one applied directly to my scalp for about 30 min, then, a "moisturizing" shampoo so my hair is much easier to detangle. I'm loving KeraCare CURLESSENCE Moisturizing Shampoo for that one! Still need to use conditioner to detangle, but breakage is greatly reduced by using shampoo #2. And they sell it at Sally's, so it's accessible and affordable.
I haven't been able to afford natural hair brands like Shea Moisture, Kinky Curly and Cantu anymore. Although their products remain my favorite I have found a sulfate containing shampoo that comes really close for a fraction (3-5x cheaper) of the price. It's the Garnier Loving blends avocado oil and shea butter shampoo. It indeed has all the ingrediënts you were talking about. Other products from this line are also really good. Their no rinse conditioner is one of my all time favorite (leave in) conditioners.
I paused and went all the way downstairs to get my shampoo to recommend it and of course, it's the first one mentioned! That'll teach me for not waiting until the end.
I am doing more scalp care videos (the next one is on scalp care) - just trying to switch things up so I can cover a good range of topics for everyone. please bear with me 🤗
@@AfopeAtoyebi Hi Afope, please focus on Serbohheic Dermatitis and how we can effectively manage it without the dryness of the medicated shampoos, are there home remedies that help, i'm tired of using Ketoconazole as even though it works for my flakes, it's very damaging to my roots and my hair is barely thriving, any help on this will be good
They're becoming a lot more popular (understandably) - I for one am looking into all the straight hair options for naturally curly girls. I would love to do a video on this. Thanks for the suggestions
@@AfopeAtoyebi OMG thank you!!!!! I've tried Keratin, but my hair thinned out ( broke off) considerably. So I'm wondering if a texture release is better, if the keratin was just applied wrong, or if I should just leave it alone....and there's not much info out there, especially on long term effects i.e. 6 months- a year down the line.
@@AfopeAtoyebi definitely a holy grail product for high porosity 🔥!!! .. so I’m curious to see your next video and how it compares to the other shampoo that you mentioned. 👀
Redken Allsoft shampoo has, SLS & coco(something something 😅) plus dimethicone is the third ingredient. Redken acid bonding shampoo has cocoamido(….) and dimethicone.
You have no idea how excited i am when you upload! Youve been a livesaver for me and many others Edit: giovanni blackberry coconut shampoo is fantastic!
So glad you’re back! If it’s possible, would love to see TGIN Rose Water shampoo in the versus! Also, would the glycosides (decal and lauryl) fall under the lather well/spreadability category?
@@AfopeAtoyebi No problem!! BTW you are one of my fave hair influencers! Your vids are so helpful and have helped my hair FLOURISH!! Also your product reccomendations are TOP DAMN TIER. Using film forming humectants have changed this coily low-po girl's life, and the Kinky Curly Knot today is truth!
I was looking at the JVN Hydrating Shampoo and I have the Biolage HydraSource Dry Hair Shampoo waiting for space in my shower. I was trying to make more ethical/sustainable choices and I have yet to find a shampoo bar that seems like a good bet. Also I bought my sister this shampoo if you are interested in the more sustainable angle: Alfaparf Semi Di Lino Moisture Nutritive Low Shampoo
Head and Shoulders original Royal Oil shampoo is great as an all purpose and moisturizing shampoo! It cleans the scalp well and gets the eczema off for about 10-14 days. Shea Moisture JBCO shampoo is moisturizing but leaves a heavy film on the hair. Especially with extended use. Even after washing twice with a clarifying shampoo, there may still be some if that residue. I suggest it for high porosity only.
@@mizzmiami3242 As I Am Hydration Elation for the last few months. When the price is too high (can range from $11-$18) I use Texture ID Self-heating Coils Conditioner, they did alter the name, but it's easy to find. Those two are staple, but I use whatever else I have when I'm out of both and can't immediately get more. If you're in a pinch, the Royal Oils conditioner works really well even though it's not a deep conditioner. I hope that's all helpful!
Sis I dont know if anyone ever told you but thank you soo much for your Videos. There are like 5 natural hair youtubers that have high porosity hair and back their information up with science. I love your Videos on high porosity hair please keep up with it, I am from Germany and here is basically no information on curly hair at all, let's not talk about porosity🤣❤❤ But much love from a fellow high porosity girl.🤗🤗❤🔥
Your videos are so informative, in fact I have a note on my phone that I keep the ingredients for the conditioner on. When I shop I always cross-reference! Will be doing the same with this one. I love the Polyquaterniums and Behentrimonium Methosulphate! I have been using Joico Moisture Recovery but after looking at your list, it is not measuring up so will not repurchaes.
I'm currently using a shampoo from Giovanni called Smoothing Castor Oil Shampoo. This is marketed as a moisturizing shampoo and works well on my scalp/3C curls. Just throwing it out there 👍🏼 for science 🤓
Recently used head and shoulders 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner and I was pleasantly surprised 😮. Then again, I don't know if it's because I did a Cerave balm prepoo beforehand sooo...
Me personally I like to add apple cider vinegar to my shampoos. I know this is off topic but I came across Fekkai apple cider vinegar shampoo years ago and it left my hair so soft and manageable. So I use that to really clean my scalp then I follow up with a moisturizing shampoo buy Aunt Jackie or Camille Rose. Camille Rose has some line that has a fruity name that is sorta creamy. Im paying attention now because maybe I need to moisturize at every step rather than just during conditioning
The cuff me after mentioning sulphates killed me forsho💀😂😂...love the content and the vibes...my support all through...hope to see you come through this year...all the best in your journey...much love from Kenya 🇰🇪❤
Hi Afope! Soultanicals Sprout Rice Vitamin Butta Shampoo is a great one, one of my favourites. Maybe TGIN Rose Water Hydrating Shampoo could be one to compare it with. Also I know you’ve said you’ve had difficulty finding the Soultanicals Knot Sauce Coil Detangler in the U.K. in another of your videos. The following are some black-owned online retailers that sell it: Kiyo Beauty Simply Moi Naturalistic Products AQOnline (Afro Quarter) The Curl Base Nature’s Little Secret Fenugreek Detangling Pre Poo is another good detangler but unfortunately it’s not a leave-in. Thanks so much for all the time and effort you put into making your videos, I’ve learnt so much.
Always love your videos. Great info, well shot, good humour and armed with information to make my product choices successful not just the latest in favour products. Not a big shampoo user I tend to cowash ( as I am) and every few washes I do a good clarifying wash. I do use the Keracare moisturising shampoos. But I’ll thank you forever for your Knot Sauce recommendation
So After years of trying out different brands, I found that WOW! Hair Science ACV shampoo has left my hair the cleanest, softest, and most moisturized than any other shampoo, and this applies after rinsing and before conditioner. From what I remember when I first read the bottle, it looks to have all those attributes listed. I recommend giving it a shot
Amazing stuff! thanks for the recommendation. Do you mean skin science? The only one I can find here is WOW! Skin Science ACV shampoo. www.amazon.co.uk/WOW-Apple-Cider-Vinegar-Shampoo/dp/B01M9EB7ZK
@@AfopeAtoyebi Yep, I'm sure that's what Sajirah means. I've been using this shampoo for a while and I love it. I found it when I started having scalp issues following the CGM and was over-moisturizing my scalp, and found that an ACV rinse really helped, but most ACV shampoos don't really have any ACV - they just have plain vinegar. Maybe it doesn't matter and maybe plain vinegar is just as beneficial and ACV is just hype? - I'd love to know your thoughts on the matter.
PANTENE MOISTURE BOOST SHAMPOO OMG. i just washed my hair rn and doing a protein treatment, and that shampoo got rid of all the leftover amla left in my hair while moisturising it. we have the same hair pattern
new subscriber here! and also very new in the haircare side of youtube :) this video is so informative and easy to understand, considering pretty much everything is new to me
I've missed your voice of reason. There is science and personal experience and bandwagonism. I made that last word up. 😆 I never got on the no all sulfate or cone train but I was aware of what can happen when using. I clean my hair each wash. No cowashing but thorough cleansing because I use products that can cause build up. If I use a product and I don't like how my hair feels based on what is advertised, then it's gone. I really have gone to more ayurvedic concoctions but when I don't feel like mixing I reach for Melanin Haircares black soap to clarify with out stripping my hair. My hair feels clean and not like straw and I follow up with Carol's Daughter Coco Creme Curl Quenching Shampoo. For me it's a winner everytime. I use oils and butters but again, thoroughly cleansing and caring for my hair, has only lead to positive experiences. I am happy to watch the rest of this series
Haaa... you know this feeling when you hear your doctor is back from holidays🥳. Welcome back I have been following your detailed advise and the ORS Olive Oil Moisture Restore-creamy aloe shampoo works well. Apart from that still struggling with my typical Black african mane. It splitter into 2 right to the roots. Protein in treatment make it dry and crunchy. But how to completely avoid protein? Well that's my diagnosis. Hopefully I am right. Love from here❤
Is Luseta Macadamia & Argan Oil Shampoo & Conditioner A good Set i just got it for my low porosity hair ,smells amazing got it from Marshalls great size bottles shampoo was so moisturizing feeling hair felt like silk loved it
I’m on the same journey to find a “moisturizing” shampoo. The only two I have so far…are the MC Easy on the Curls (old formula) and CurlMix’s L Shampoo (Lemon Cream)…they are similar (after the rinse) leaving the hair feeling smooth. I’ll book mark so I can add to the list as I go.
Yes! the MC Easy on the Curls is being trialed/tested in the next video. I haven't tried the CurlMix’s L Shampoo though so excited to add it to the list.
@@nwabuezeobianuju6388 I heard the Camille Rose shampoo has been reformulated. I have the new one…it’s more clear than the older formula that looked creamy
@@AfopeAtoyebi yes, i bought quite a few “gentle, low ph or ph balancing, low lather ( I think too much lather is also damaging) shampoos” to test out. But I haven’t really started yet…I’m trying yo use up some other products first.
Thank you so much for such an in-depth video! Really helpful for having a better idea of what to look for in a shampoo past the marketing and general jargon on the front of the bottle. RECOMMENDATION: OGX Nourishing Coconut Milk Shampoo
TGIN MOISTURE RICH SHAMPOO ADOWA BEAUTY Clarifying gel shampoo Natures little secret cucumber shampoo These I’ve tried recently and they are really moisturizing imo.
@@BewitchinglyGhoulish yea it’s nice Overall. But I getting a weird after smell from it. I think it’s from the disodium cocoamphodiproponate. It makes it a good cleanser but I think I might be sensitive to it. I want to try the design essential Avacado moisture shampoo.
@@BewitchinglyGhoulish I can be really knit-picky with smells. It’s not as bad as Uniqurls shampoo which is also a good one. You gave me another confirmation lol imma pick up design essential shampoo this weekend. I hope I like it too!
Hi, I came across your videos and already watched a bunch of it now. They are really informative and I can see that you know what you are talking about. I went on your website to be able to have an appointment with you as you are a trichologist and I have some scalps issues. But there is no where were we can contact you for an appointment or where you mention the services you offer 😟. So I was wondering if you still working as such. Thanks. I live in London and it is sooo hard to found a good trichologist.
Camille Rose Sweet Ginger Cleansing Shampoo has been the only shampoo that ticked all the boxes. However, after a visit to a trichologist i found out I needed to exfoliate my scalp and so I am using the Jason anti dandruff shampoo with salicylic acid once a month. Now I am not sure if the camille rose wasn't cleaning properly.
Can you make a video on the best shampoo and conditioner products for those who don't want thicker or volume hair? And Aloe and Shea Butter free please. You make good content...now if I can only find someone on RU-vid doing this for body lotion...
I just do what you say and still using ones from your previous videos 🤣 so nothing to add except have a look at the Nyfasi deluxe detangler my friend has worked hard on engineering it to make our curl life easier. Please support and pre order if you can ❤️👸🏾🙏🏾
Hi Afope! For some reason my waist length hair got really mushy and gummy over the pandemic when it got wet and was really soft so I cut more than half of it off and incorporated protein in my routine and now it’s stiff, really shiny, loose, stringy when wet, yet still really soft and easy to detangle. I can’t even do twist-outs anymore because my hair can’t hold it. Any suggestions?
Try a protein deep conditioner your description sounds like moisture overload stringy and gummy don’t overdo it with protein it can have the adverse affect if used to often but I could help u bounce back
In short - yes. All shampoos are technically acidic (~pH 5) and this is just in line with hair/sebum which is naturally also around this pH. at this pH level it's not altering the hair in any way so it's said to be ideal for all hair types - regardless of porosity. Anything more alkaline or more acidic than this could be problematic.
Ladies if you have a recommendation of a moisturizing shampoo with sodium laureth sulfate included. Please let us know. I have a tough time finding a product that includes that, but does not feel stripped afterwards.
These are the ingredients in the UK: AQUA (WATER), SODIUM LAURETH SULFATE, COCAMIDOPROPYL BETAINE, SODIUM CHLORIDE, ALOE BARBADENSIS (ALOE VERA) LEAF JUICE POWDER, CITRIC ACID, COCOS NUCIFERA (COCONUT) FRUIT EXTRACT, COCOS NUCIFERA (COCONUT) OIL, DISODIUM EDTA, GLYCERIN, ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL, LACTIC ACID, PARFUM(FRAGRANCE), PENTYLENE GLYCOL, POLYQUATERNIUM-10, PPG-6, PROPYLENE GLYCOL, SINE ADIPE LAC (NONFAT DRY MILK), SODIUM ACETATE, SODIUM BENZOATE, SODIUM HYDROXIDE, COUMARIN, LINALOOL are these the same ingredients you have in the one you're recommending? I know ingredients/formulations sometimes differ between regions.
I’m in the U.S, so the only Tresemme Botanique they are selling is a reformulated sulfate free one. Would a sulfate free work with washing out hair grease such as blue magic, dax, softee or any petrolatum based product?
@@nataliesasha8216 She said so. Sodium Alpha Olefin Sulfonate, C 12- 14-16 -18 Olefin Sulfonate. I found out that some secondary surfactants if highly concentrated in the first five, can be worse than Sulfates. E.g. Check out Aunt Jackie's Powerwash and even their Co-wash; it stripped my hair completely!
