People think that you should be investing in growth in your twenties and switching to dividends when your closer to retirement. If one finds dividend growth where emphasis is companies growing thier dividend, it might be wise to focus on that and not growth until later since growth and pop at any moment or go way down super fast and you would have less new capital to put in it.
@km6731
@km6731 Год назад
by focusing on growth later, you could give your dividends more time to reinvest into them selves and when you start putting your new capital to growth, if they do very well, you can flip it over to more divs or ride the wave and wait for the ultimate crash. Riding a crash with reinvesting divs is a different feeling than riding the wave and putting more money into crashing growth stocks that don't pay a dividend, and could take years to pay itself off.

Hi Jake, are these ETFs best held in a taxable account to maximize share size and growth? What's the difference between DGRO and DGRW? Thanks for the exceptional video. It was very informative.
@DividendGrowthInvesting
@DividendGrowthInvesting Год назад
Hey Lloyd! For most people, it would be better to hold dividend ETFs in a Roth IRA or a tax sheltered account. It ultimately comes down to when you plan to use the dividends to pay for your living expenses. If you plan to live off your dividend portfolio before the age of 59.5, then you may want to consider holding them in a taxable account. These ETFs are very tax efficient with over 95% of the dividend considered a "qualified dividend" which is taxed at the lowest rate here in the US.

But I must say, at around 13:00 you are stressing don't exactly invest into mo. paying etf's if your young if they have energy in them, and watch your time horizon and, this is for old people blah blah blee. I think you have been listening to too many talking heads and pundits. If I were 20 and I had my money tied up into what you are suggesting, it would give me five pay days every month. What is wrong with that if I DCA into diversified ETF's such as these? nothing I like your selection only did you notice that with the exception of SPLV, the other etf's have dividends that are all over the place? Up down, up down, hard to pay down monthly debt if you're not entirely sure what you will be getting for a div.
