I just purchased the Garmin Zumo 396, the only downside , they put the USB port in the back of the unit so when it’s in the cradle you can’t use the USB , to charge it when you are riding ,if you have one on your bike to charge it, so you need to install the power cable that comes with it but buyer beware make sure you wire an inline fuse , that little box that comes with it is just a converter not a fuse.

The price of the Nav VII is absolutely criminal. On top of that, those that actually bought it are almost invariably disappointed. $850 for a $250 unit isn't even anywhere near the best unit out there?! I'd rather spend that money on a cradle change that would allow other units to be used. So far, I have found nothing that even comes close to my Android phone running Waze and Pandora at the same time. Tunes going, Nice lady comes over the top to tell me about road hazards, police action ahead, etc. Seemlessly. And automatic phone call acceptance as well. I would dismantle and rebuild my dash of my K1600GTL if I could get that perfect functionality into the cradle intended for the NAV VI. Just think: All that with the equipment I already carry. Why would anyone buy the Garmin? And at a $600 unjustifiable premium just because it sits in the dash cradle ? Insanity. As a side note: If you have the opportunity to choose between An 'LMT' (LifeTime Map updates) or not, Choose 'not'. The LMT will invariably blank out and reboot for updates RIGHT WHEN YOU NEED IT TO NAVIGATE. Of all the hundreds of times mine has updated, no errors corrected, or missing roads in my area have been inserted. EVER. Just an interruption of navigation. Far as I can tell, the 'LMT' is a gimmick.

There is a new Garmin Zumo 396LMT-S that is an update of the 395. Good piece of gear - added some features, but dropped support for the TPMS.
