I work in audio for video games and I have sensory processing disorder whilst living with people who don't respect it so those Bose headphones sound like a massive help
I always keep wondering, does the noise cancellation works without any music or anything? They never say this on websites, sometimes I just don’t want to hear things
I recently bought some, you can use them without music, but they work better with music. They don't remove all the noise from the environment as I expected, it only reduces them, at least the ones that I buy, a little disappointing haha, but they are a help. One more thing, I don't usually use them with the ANC on, because the little sound it produces gives me headaches after 10 minutes of using it, I had read about that, but I did not think I was so sensitive. Keep that in mind if you plan to buy some, hope this helps someone
@@_Koikoi__ Thank you! I have been researching ANC headphones for a solid week now and you are the first person to mention the noise that the noise cancelling feature offers. I love the idea of getting headphones that have noise cancelling but I am very sensitive to sound and no one else believes that the noise the ANC makes is too loud. I will now be able to save my money and just stick with ear defenders.
Bose ones yes. And you can turn off the settings talking in your ear for most things (exceptions: startup sound, low battery dead notification). Those have been my main autism headphones for years now. They changed the material between the QC25s(? I think?) and the QC35s, and now more sound comes through if your headphones touch something. Makes sleeping while wearing them a lot less helpful. I also hate that it’s a chargeable battery without a backup. Can’t swap out batteries to immediately continue ANC when they die anymore. That’s a huge loss for me. But even with that, they’re still the best I’ve found lately. ANC headphones are kinda all going the way of bluetooth, talking to you, chargeable, so meh.
Here's a little tip if you want to block out a lot of noise. Put some standard ear plugs in and then put on noise canceling headphones on over them. It's pretty crazy how much noise that blocks out. Especially if you aren't actually looking for silence, but just need to block out the outside world. Playing music with that set-up really does block out just about all outside sound. I used to work in an extremely noisy manufacturing plant that made glass bottles. There were noisy machines everywhere as well as thousands of glass bottles all clanging against each other as they moved down the production lines, and with this set up all I could hear was my music. And I suggest this over ear buds in with 3M headphones on over those because you can turn your music up much louder this way, blocking out more outside noise, without over stimulating yourself or damaging your hearing, because the earplugs filter out most of the harsh high frequency sounds in your music and just block out a lot of their volume.
I’m in the same boat as you, been doing that and battling with noisy lab for a few years now and now we have ppl who constantly turn up the music. The amount of panic attacks I’ve had cuz of sensory overload there holy moly. After a while I can’t wear the earbuds under my NC over ear or even 3M/uline ear muffs because it gets uncomfortable after an hour. I guess I was blessed with tiny ears, so I’m stuck trying to find a very high quality ANC set. My boss just so happens to have a pair of Sonys she’s gifting to me cuz she doesn’t use them…..I PRAY THEY ARE BETTER THAN MINE AND WORK. I’m stuck against a wall with this situation
@@Moosephine333 if they're the wh-1000xm3 or 4 or 5 they will work astonishingly we'll. I have the 3s. They alone should be enough for most people in most circumstances. But there are definitely exceptions. Hence me using earplugs in addition to them. Ear plugs also come in various shapes and sizes. I'd recommend trying a few different ones cause you might find some that work for you.
@@ezradanger oh dang they might not be enough then…my lab is so echoey along with loud I couldn’t even stand it when we’d have meetings in the empty room before we moved into it…..which earplugs do you recommend that you like? I tried Loop but can’t wear them all day…..might try their sleep ones.
@@Moosephine333 I don't really have a recommendation on ear plugs, I've used a lot of different ones and they've all been fine to me. But I can't stand most ear buds for some reason. I'd say just try out different kinds till you find one you like.
im autistic and the biggest problem i have is not my sensitivity to the volume of the noise, but how it sounds. my biggest trigger is tounge clicking. i rememer when in school i had an issue with a kid who makes that noise, so they gave me those head phones. they do not work and i still complain because i can still hear it, just quieter. another noise that bothers me is my dads snorring and they complain and tell me to just ignore him. obviously i cant. he goes up stairs to sleep and i can still hear him even with the tv on and causes distress. my mom claims that im just paying too much atention to his snorring that the movie. then there is my room mate who hums and sings alot or chews her food or gum loudly. cant tell her to stop and my gamer headphones dont work to block it out. something about hearing people sing is very stressful. think of being forced to listen to those high school chorus girls constantly singing near the bathroom. the amount of stress makes me feel like Mr. Krabs in the squeaky boots episode when he cant escape the sound and tries to block it off but its still seeping through. i need headphones that will absolutly block out the noise to the point i wont hear it at all.
yo, me too, although i believe i'm also dealing with misophonia. tongue clicking, snoring, mouth sounds are all pretty bad. if it's the same for you, then you might wanna look for good pnc headphones (passive noise cancelling) where they focus more on physically blocking out the sound. just wanna let you know that you're not alone, and that it's pretty much impossible to just "not pay attention" when it's more like your natural noise filter is borked. some people might not get it because they don't know what it's like, but there are others out here that deal with the same thing. stay strong and keep looking!
@@hiji8180 WHAAAAAAAT? Thats what it is? A phobia? God and here i thought is just autism. I mean maybe it is part of it, but whenever they refer to noise sensitivity, they only talk about volume. So there are times where they don't exactly understand that I have a different kind of noise sensitivity. Which reminds me. I remember seeing an episode of Dr. Phill where there was a woman who claims she has the phobia because she hates hearing her husbands chewing. Dr. Phill then rudely tells her "did Dr. Google diagnose you that?" It hurts me hearing that because he didn't take her sensitivity seriously.
When working with my students, and loud coworkers...I need a quiet room. My office with door closed is not enough sometimes. My anxiety gets to me and I don't want to hear music all the time. Looking for good noise canceling for me.
Seeing a new video from you makes me so happy! Your videos are both helpful and entertaining. I got a set of Bose noise-canceling headphone several years ago. The big, bulky type that completely cover your ears, similar to the set you have.. The noise-canceling function is decent but not perfect. They work really well for noise that is constant and steady, like airplane noise, car noise, machine noise. Not as great for music or people noise, I’ve found. The best thing I’ve found is that they send a clear message to everyone around me when I wear them - I don’t want to be bothered. People don’t try to talk to you when you’re wearing big headphones. That’s a win in my book!
My preference is the AirPods Pro. They're not only discreet, but you don't get sweaty ears which I do get even when it's only a little bit on the warm side. My 3M ear protection is always in my backpack, though, because they always work. If I have to go into the office, I also bring the Bose QC35 (I find they do music better than the Sony). They're comfortable, have excellent battery life, and there's climate control in the office so I don't get sweaty ears. Oh, and I also have those small earpieces on my key chain.
I love my AirPods I have a rare learning disablity simmlier to autism but it’s not and I have always had to leave events early or not go at all I can leave the house with out my AirPods I just get over stimulated so when that happens like at work I step out clock my rest break and listen to music and get back to work I listen to music while I work sometimes depending on how bad my episode is I also have ptsd that causes misphonia my therapist says because of my disablities noise sensitivity can cause a meltdown
@@kyte7727 Correct. Plus, they only work for "predictable" sound. That's why I also have custom in-ears with Bluetooth. Still, I prefer the AirPods Pro.
I don't have enough money to buy the *fancy* noise cancelling headphones but I bought 3M headphones off of Amazon and I love them:) Now stores aren't over stimulating🖤
Did you check the Srhythm NC25 oder NC35? They are great enough four about 50€. I wear them everyday. There is defenitely better noise cancelling to get, but they are doing a good Job!

Thank you for this. I'm in a funny position of being hard of hearing yet still having sensory difficulties with sound, i'm trying to get used to wearing hearing aids which increase the volume of EVERYTHING which helps me hear people speaking to me but the sensory overload exhausts me! I generally have them turned right down (ready to turn up when i need to) and just use them as bluetooth earpieces for my phone/music etc. There are many situations where i wish they would become noise cancelling - i just want silence! Wearing hearing aids means i can't use any in ear headphones to cancel noise and i can't afford the expensive ones you recommend. I've got some ear defenders but the pressure against your ears/head isn't comfortable for very long - i imagine the more you pay the more comfortable they become? It's hard buying this type of thing online, you really need to try before you buy.

Flare makes ear plugs with holes called “calm”. Not electronic - just silicone. Dampens high pitched sounds everything else stays at regular volume. I have an auditory processing disorder I have used these for about two weeks. Worth the $25, Not a cure but significant help. Just thought I’d share.
Omg this ear buds that do the sound thing where they don’t affect the sound quality but reduce the volume is wild, you could wear them if you have a job or if you have friends or just don’t want to be stared at in Walmart, you can go on stealth mode with the skin color option 😂❤️ that’s awesome Lol we all use a different kind in our house, my brother uses DD (something decibel? No clue, the sound blocking is massive though like 30 something db) I use I think 25 or 27 db? Haven’t bought them in a while, and I like the way they are mad with the plastic piece rather than the metal holding the ear piece, and my younger son uses the same but in a different color, while my older son uses a lower decimal that everyone else in the house hates. I have attempted wearing them when I can’t locate mine, and they are just awful. But he likes it man. It took us buying a lot of different kinds before any of us found what worked for us, and the only expensive one that was preferred was DD brand, the rest were all on the cheaper end from Amazon 🤷♀️ but they work son
If you have an iphone or ipad highly recommend the Airpod pros. I use the airpods just on noise canceling with no sound on just for everyday things like shopping, storms and just everyday use. Only problem i have is they only last 4 hours at a time. They are very discreet which is what i was after.

For affordable, comfortable and discreet high fidelity ear plugs, I like Vibes™. They retail around £25 mark. Far better fit than those cone shaped gizmos.
I work in an office that can be loud & distracting and I wear those Bose headphones nearly all day without getting headaches because they're just that comfortable and well made. I got one up! If you don’t care for sleek looks of the expensive ANC headphones they have electronic earmuffs that are OSHA compliant 20db and up NRR for construction workers! The pair I just got are prohear em037. Plug in charge, calling capability, and GEL ear pads for comfort. They squeeze a little bit but they’re new. I realized ANC is not enough for me and most have the whooshing sound. I want to not be able to hear sh**. I LOVE THESE. No more panic attacks at work cuz of noise!
I actually might use the right noise cancelling headphones for a good money investment because I'm living in a noisy environment where the point that I can't sleep at night and Dering the day when people are sometimes arguing I get startled so I think it's finally time for me to get noise cancelling headphones great video 🎧👍🏻

Which earplugs (not headphones and not big ear protectors) do you recommend for people who like to sleep during travel while some of passengers are loud/talking?
I hate things touching my body so I never wear glasses, chains, wristwatch, etc. I'd rather see blur and be unable to tell time than keep being bothered by feeling touches. My past experience with studio headphones was that it gets uncomfortable after like 30 min or so by having a huge thing over my head which keeps squeezing it, and also crushing my ears so they start feeling like they are burning or are cut with a knife. So you just keep fixing them over and over and never feel comfortable, making it impossible to concentrate on whatever you're tryng to do. So, I've always used wireless earbuds because I could just pop them in and forget they are even there. I don't really care about noise cancellation but would like to focus on comfort more. The best headphones cost like $300-400 so It's a tough buy only to be disappointed by comfort and avoiding using the headphones altogether. Anyone here have similar tactile issues and was able to find a perfect pair for themselves that they can wear for hours on end without issues? Wireless over the head headphones that can also be wired at will, and have a good mic for meetings/gaming.
I live in the country and most of the time it’s really quiet except for those fireworks moments. I’m thinking about getting headphones for going shopping and those moments. Do you wear them to the dentist? The noises from the drills and cleaning tools and even the same kind of noises at doctors visits are like fingernails on a chalkboard to me.
I like the Boise 700 quiet comfort head phones. Really comfortable has 11 different levels of noise cancellation. It’s their most recent release a bit more expensive then the 35s but worth the extra money.

I got the version of the bose headphones that have a desktop controller (Marketed as a gaming headset), and so far I love them. the best thing I realized is that I could pair them with my cell phone and take calls on them. Everything but the callers voice is tuned out! I rarely take phone calls, but this headset definitely made it easier. Cellphone speakers are the WORST
Our little guy is on the spectrum and he loves his headphones but, we are trying to find some without buttons and just control from the ipad/phone. He loves buttons and clicks then and then gets mad when his headphones disconnect, turn off or get too loud.
I bought the Bose QC45 and look like they block good amount of sound. Now also I will buy earplugs to sleep because I live in shared accomodation and the people really don't care about that and drive me crazy waking me up at 5am with loud phone sounds. I have a ptsd from car accidents and other truma and I clean at a construction site and my ptsd does cause misphonia and Iv always had to leave concerts stores early because of it but when I got my AirPods second generation when I have a misphonia trigger my AirPods and medication really help I also have a learning disablity that’s rare simmlier to autism but it’s not AirPods really help and I
I currently use the Status Audio Between 3ANC but i think i need something stronger. I also struggle with them falling out a lot. I think i might get the bose ones soon.

I am using the Sony wh-1000xm3 which is tested one of the best ANC headphones along with Sony wh-1000xm4. It is okay, but I am still longing for more noise cancelling. Tested myself the Bose Quiet Comfort and 700, NC not as good as the Sonys. At the moment I test the Jabra Elite 85h for I want a pair of headphones to change. Like them though NC is again not as good as Sony. But they are a little cheaper, nice feature is the sound collection in the app like white noise or waves ... and it is resistent to water and dust.
I absolutely love my air mood pro 2 better battery life for me since I wear them all day but I don’t like that they will auto turn on transparency if it hears a loud sound and makes the sound 10x worse for me. Example when an alarm is going off from a product in a store and just beeping it will amplify that sound. I get it and why but sometimes it really sucks

I can listen to my music loud. I can not go to a concert and sit anywhere near the speakers. Sensitive hearing......SUCKKKSSSSS! I have ear plugs i carry in my purse. Hate the loud buzzer at the bb games. Ouch!!!!
I actually got myself some Real Blue NC from Teufel (~200Eur), very much like your Bose with active noise-canceling, Bluetooth, and stuff. I wear those things and nothing else anymore, don't care about the looks anyway. Had some simple buds before. But if I wore them longer my ears always hurt and sometimes got a little inflammation because foreign body inside ear = no good.
