Awesome driver unbelievably skilled but reckless too . He didint gave a shit to turn the cars into junk for a scrapyard maybe thats why he legendary name wont be forggoten . So tragic that he passed so young . Rest in peace .
Y eso lo llevo a su vida parece, murió a los 39 mientras pilotaba un helicóptero a baja altura esquivando árboles de forma imprudente estando en el mismo helicóptero con su hijo y nas personas... una lastima
If Colin was still around today to see how much technology existed in the WRC, I think he would try to battle today's drivers with his old school 22B to prove something. He was one hell of a competitor!
He's chillin with Ken block stop ya cryin dude it';s pathetic. ya should be remembering with smiles and adrenaline ! Keep petrol engines alive for motorsports dont let EV's consume us all!
Tommi Makkinen is more succesfull and Loeb of course... but I think,in the history of wrc, Colin Macrae is finally the most legentary driver....And he will be for ever...
+ricardo777746 they are maybe more succesfull, but they can't even touch colin's spectacular driving style or colin's bravery at the tricky corners or jumps...
You are right about the success. By numbers, Mäkinen and especially Loeb are more successfull them Colin ever was. Maybe they also were more skilled then Colin, who knows. But Colin has won his WRC titel during an golden era of the Sport, where all the big names were rallying, Kankkunen, Mäkinen, Sainz, Auriol, Burns, Gronholm...up to 8 (!!!) manufacturor teams. WRC has been HUGE in the late 90s/early 2000s. But one thing is undoubted - Colin was THE most popular driver and WRC is missing such a character nowadays.
my opinion is that colin and Richard were my favourites, but kankunen was the best we've had to date, i can't see that changing in the near future. 4 titles with 3 manufacturers in two completely different eras is well above 9 titles with one manufacturer in quite similar era. but what made colin so popular was his character and style in which he drove. very similar to ari vatanen (very fast, or big crash, or both. win it or bin it).
That part where he did donuts and held the Scottish flag.. I got the shivers!! Us scotsmen should be proud that we had such a great rally driver!! R.I.P.
September 15, 2007 Colin McRae was killed along with five years son! I am very sad, he was the best. But legends never die as long as we remember them. :-(
I'm not but I'm going on iPlayer now to watch it ..... I've been in love with Subarus since I was a kid used to love watching Colin McRae I think the Impreza is like the cosworth of my generation
THE BEST....LEGEND...R.I.P. COLIN MCRAE....WRC IS NEVER THE SAME WITHOUT YOU ! ! ! does anyone know this song?????every time I watch this video I relive those great moments
4:22 It's good to see that Colin was still driving mad and fucking up cars in his later careers with Ford and Citroen.... I still like him best behind the wheel of a Subaru, tho.
Crash @ 1:00 clumber park RAC rally occurred due to to his braking point (bus shelter) being demolished by a historic rally car an hour earlier, so we watched a round bale that whilst disintegrating Colin had banged it in first and was off an amazing sight, legend. RIP crasher Mc Rae
Il n'était peut etre pas le meilleur, mais sans aucun doute c'est celui q'on a aimé le plus (I wouldn't say he was the best, but certainly the most beloved!
I wasn't born when he was in his prime but in interviews I seen after he spun out (crashed off course into the trees or into a ditch) a good majority of them he said his breaks failed and he couldn't turn the car fast enough to compensate so the fact he used "compensate" in the same sentence as a major mechanical issue shows that McCrae didn't give a shit about his health as long as he was still breathing once the car stopped bouncing him around like a rag doll, fair to say as a fellow scot that his ideology about his accidents were as we would say "fuckin mental" but the guy was probably the best Scottish sportsman of his time (since motorsports has the word "sports" in it) and probably the best British rally driver in history
Couple years ago I saw here in finland next to Neste Rally on gas station dedicated to Colin exactly the very same Ford Focus WRC look with stickers and all elements. It was so beautiful and made me remember Colin's amazing work with rally. R.I.P. Colin McRae
how can he be the father of rallying if he was young lad in the early 2000's. the father of rally is the original Minicooper engineers or Renault Alpine A110 rally engineers of the 60's and 70's. Those are the true fathers of rally.
Great driver, but, he should not have been flying that helicopter killing three other people. If only time could be turned back i'm sure he wouldn't have flow. So tragic, lets not forgot the people who were victims in that crash.
Great tribute video and great song, I really appreciated it! Colin McRae was one of the best rally drivers ever as well as one of the most spectacular ones.
I didn't know he'd died. Now checked this in Wiki... A helicopter crash.... Pity... BTW, I wonder why he used the left-hand side steering wheel cars whereas he was from the UK.
Loeb and Citroen will probably be the most successfull team in WRC´s history ever, but the sport lives from guys like Colin, who had the heart at the right spot and was always attacking like hell, even when the car was bend like a banana and only had 3 wheels on ! #Colin #Legend #ForEver
