@@fauxfawks9645 No because it's going bankrupt due to the ongoing crisis and the white house doesn't want to bail it out. A lot of Americans rely on it though, so there's been a push by supporters to contact representatives and ask them to support it.

@@Girintina I think the crux of the argument is still the same. The government ran postal service needs to be better. Just because it was barely passing doesn't mean it couldn't be better.

GenPop Joe the USPS has been in serious trouble for awhile because the shipping corporations FedEx and UPS have been lobbying in congress and they keep getting their budget cut. The USPS isn’t really a for profit company since it was created by The Constitution and therefor government funded. It can’t afford to defend itself while FedEd and UPS pay our Reps off. It may be slower, but it’s cheaper and legally has to be able to deliver mail to every single American. About the same thing is happening to public libraries.

Except that the USPS is one of the most successful government agencies. It is actually so profitable that the GOP has been trying to privatize it for years to funnel that money to their donor's pockets instead of the government. The current crisis is because the USPS is required to fully fund it's employee pensions 75 years in advance, which no other agency is required to do.

@@zach2437 Agency is given money on the expectation it will do its job, doesnt do anything=surprisingly profitable. Bit like when the ISP's get huge fund to improve thier infrastructure and spend the money buying football stadiums.
