Been wanting a mini since the movie itlian job I watched when I was a kid 24 now and I think it's time to pull the trigger on it looking forward to becoming a mini Cooper s owner
The JCW and S sound amazing, but the base models are good too. I have an 08 r56 base, and it's got quite a good sound. Not the fastest car either, but still a hoot to drive. Its nimbleness has saved my life several times from deer, ignorant drivers, and bad barrel placement.
@@hamhamgg765 sorry for the late response. So for a base model, there's not much you can do unfortunately, aside from exhaust upgrades, suspension, air filters, spark plugs, and general computer tuning. A Sprint booster is a common mod for many minis. Mine is stock, and I'm happy with that.
yeh i have a base model r50 mini got a exhaust and air filter but my plans are if i keep the car buy a low mileage engine and add cams to it, new intake and ported head try get about 150 from it whilst keeping it light and just have a blast with a light weight cooper maybe even swap the trans for a straight cut(very expensive sadly) or the cooper s gearbox.
@@sythenalpha2037 the mini gearboxes (except the CVT) are all quite good. The manuals are notoriously good gearboxes. Personally I like mine bone stock. Would I like an S? Yes, but honestly, the base models are still amazing in their own rights. They're gentile until you hit the sport mode. The S models aren't as gentile in general.
@@nuibit8868 tbh yeh the gearbox is known to be ok the stock r50 gearbox is a known problem if you constantly stress it like when you launch em hard constantly also i would only swap in the cooper s gearbox because i wunna make a replica mini cooper challenge car with changing out parts that ain't to taste also my cars at 200k miles and last owner was a boy racer from what i could tell which is why im worried for the gearbox. i could just rebuild the gearbox aswell as its cheap to do and prolly good experience anyway have a wonderful day mate and nice vid from yo channel.
I got a 2005 mini r50 im working on. Needs new trim and a transmission rebuild (gonna do a 6 speed swap) a new hatch, headlights, and hood. Wouldnt trade it for the world. Absolutely love this car.
@@TomSC im sure it will. This is the same one i owned a couple years ago. Control arm snapped and the axel and couldnt afford it at the time. So just today i got my old cooper back. Definitely alot of memories and i can finally build it
I have just recently bought a mini cooper S R53 supercharger, what a machine, i am giving it all the upgrade treatment etc, hopefully i can get it upto 260 bhp that will suit me nicely 😎👍🏽🏁
How many time will pass until dumb Chinese copy mini and put a disgusting 1.5 engine paired with automatic transmission and sleepy performance? We need to appreciate good times and great sounds 👍🏻 awesome vid 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
@@alm4264 Nevermind mate, it was a joke… an illegal meet in the U.K. is called “Mexico”… the term comes from the US actually. When people film cars going well over the speed limit they say it all happened in Mexico to avoid trouble with the rozzers.
I have a gen 1 supercharged cooper s and I can get widebody and bigger supplercharger and fuel and spark and intercooler fmic plus I can do a wing and full blackout treatment with lower alcantara seats and it's had all it's 100,k stuff done I love driving it it belonged to my mum she was a bit of a Hoon she passed of cancer and I can't bring myself to sell it but I also have a 150k invested I to a e34 M5 total restoration with big power engine and two regos on the cars it's killing me with little work what should I do dereg the mini and club rego it and rereg the bmw for my daily or sell the mi I and loose the last theng my mum and I had fun in and so many other memory's as we don't have that many photos and I was building the car up for her anyway for mother's day a few years ago I did custom speakers And subs with mum airbrilushed in the old tattoo style on carbon fibre speakers and they look aesom and sound awsome so memorial racer for my mum or sell it for cash get my 535is with engine swap on road it's now a 3L twinturbo built engine about 650hp and 950ft/pounds
