That old Book of Mormon is just beautiful. Oh the things that book would have been witness to. And I'm not talking about the contents of the pages, but what that specific book would have been through.

No one else gonna point out the bit of potential bias here? Rebecca is normally somewhat down on or reserved when it comes to religious texts, choosing to focus strictly on the rarity of the edition, the physical condition, the company that printed it, etc. She never assigns value, collector desirability, or historical significance based on the religion and/or religious institution the work in question is connected/associated with... until now. Conversely, I’d say she seems to have a markedly favorable view of Mormonism in general, crediting it as a cornerstone of original American theology, a foundational outline for a utopian system, and an apparently “important” religion and part of American history. Considering all of the above, does it seem like an entirely objective analysis once you learn that she’s related (by marriage) to one Mr. Mitt Romney? PS - I love Rebecca, but I couldn’t stop thinking about the connection during this visit of hers. Just thought it was interesting.

Had no idea these went for that much money. Always assumed the only people who'd want to buy one are Mormon, but I guess it does have a lot of historical significance. I'm an atheist/ex-mormon and I've read it of course. I don't believe in the book, but I've got to say, the message is good and the stories are very interesting. And at the end of the day, I can't hold anything against a book that fundimentally teaches people to be nicer to each other.
