Dropbox as an idea is incredible. However, as years have passed, however, it’s become bloated, slow, and in my personal opinion, unusable.
In this video, I’ll showcase what I use instead and why it’s become such a game changer for my workflow.

My God, I love Resilio Sync so much I can keep my files in sync across multiple machines, Mak and PC, and best of all, my files are not living on any major platform where I don’t have control over them. considering I do 18+ related work for my job, I don’t need a bunch of files being scanned by Google or anybody else.

You explained the user case and rationale perfectly, and it's exactly what I need. But I was surprised to see that you consider your PC as the 'server' that holds all the files. What about a NAS? Resilio runs on Synology NAS, and this allows you to make the NAS the one redundant version of the files, (like the dropbox) and your devices sync to the NAS. That's what i'm planning to set up, as I learn about Resilio.

Unfortunately Resilio cannot preview on devices (SmartPhones / Tablets) that receive files, especially image files. This function is very useful if you want to use it as Cloud Storage.

I am using Resilio Sync for years. It's good, but Resilio Sync still misses a GUI to define files which should not be synchronise within the synchronized folder. You have to edit a file within hidden folder -> very bad.

Great video! I've been following Resilio since they've started the whole thing, I think it was around 2014. Back then everything was more or less free. However, don't fall into the "sync trap" because sync is not a real backup. Only following the 3-2-1 rule will give you somewhat bulletproof solution that can and should prevent data loss.

I like using Resilio as part of my backup strategy as it is 'close' and something I'm actually using. Something he didn't show is that Resilio can keep previous copies of files (I think that are deleted) and holds them temporarily in a temp folder on the remote machines. I'm not sure about how it decides what the retention policy is or what may or not be excluded from this. As far as the Backup, what I did start doing about a year ago is I have sync on a couple Pi's that one operates as my main NAS and there's a remote one that syncs data. The new addition was the desktop resilio sync i installed (usually just let the NAS grind away in the background) and had it point the directories to an external drive. Once a month or so, I'll hook that drive up (usually in fireproof safe) and let it sync to the Sync 'cloud' and update. What's slick is that it's pretty automated once setup and I just plug in the drive and run Resilio and it grinds away.

Does it work with Adobe Lightroom? Lightroom is a pain in the neck for sharing the library file on multiple computer....

It works with any files. The program shouldn't matter. The Resilio app sometimes 'complains' that a file is locked if you have it open on your device that has resilio running. But, once you close the program and let the file sit for a bit, resilio should grab it and replicate it elsewhere. Slick thing about Resilio that isn't documented much is that it should likely do delta file updates. If you have a huge file that's already synced around but edit it and make some small changes, Resilio should scan the file and only use the internet connection to sync the changes vs resending the whole file again.
