Thrones up to some episodes of S5 was the greatest fantasy show of all time (I might even say greatest show of all time), and then DnD just royally fucked everything up to act like they were better writers than GRRM.

I wouldn't say we forgot, its just the wound was so recent. I would try and go back, but it just felt... spoiled I guess. Now I can go back and enjoy those earlier seasons.

It still is in my book, for me, Season 7 and 8 don't exist😂, i mean Season 7 had some cool bits about it, but was just stupid. 8 on the other hand was just an absolute pile of shit, i've never seen a tv sho or any media get so mutilated as Got's finale Season, it is a joke to call that a finale, an insult if you will​@@SpiritStoneWarrior94-yx3gs

@@homelander39spoils of war is terrible. Bronn show featuring fire. The context around it is horrific. The movement of troops is asinine. None of the warfare makes any strategic or tactical sense in the last couple seasons.

Look at black water, the troops are just running at the wall with no formation, just eating arrows for fun. The Lannisters have essentially all of their troops outside of their massive walls. On top of that, defenders in real life usually did a whole lot more. It wasn’t uncommon for defenders to actively make their walls bigger/taller if they knew shit was gonna go down. My biggest gripe in the entire series is that everyone seemingly uses swords for battle. Spears (with a backup shirt sword) dominated warfare for most of history because they work so well in a formation and keep distance from the enemy front line. The loot train honestly had the most reasonable troop placement out of it all. They actually used a shield wall with spears, and held their ground while archers went ham. In real life they’d absolutely not have lines so thin (iirc just one troop thick) but they didn’t know they were being attacked so whatever. GRRM is a great world builder, but even the battles in the books are pretty rough to read. Hearing about people fighting single combat in the middle of a massive battle makes me want to not read it at all.

@@thekrakensdaughter And they thought they'd get a Star Wars series. I'm glad they nailed their coffin shut by their last failures. I had been getting annoyed by a lot of the changes and bad writing already, especially comparing some of the book stuff.

I actually just looked up David Benioff's IMDb page to see what he's done since Game of Thrones since they didn't get to do the Star Wars series. He was executive producer on "The Chair" and "Metal Lords", none of which I've hard of, but it also says he has two Game of Thrones spin-offs in development.

Book version is given an axe to fight back against the Mountain Clans when going to the Vale, he uses it in the battle he takes place in(since he's not just knocked out so its offscreen)and its a regular weapon of his.

It would have been more practical to give him a spear.

@@eljefemaximo5420 a spear is too long for a dwarf and does not kill armored men the same way an axe does..also it takes a great amount of skill to weild a spear in combat..

@@soulbrother1143 I have to disagree on every single point you made. 1 a spear is perfect for a dwarf. It gives him reach in combat dwarves lack reach. Spears are naturally armor piercing especially for chain mail plus spears can get into those vulnerable cracks in armor. Spears are probably the most simple and easiest to master of all weapons. It takes far less training to master a spear over a bow or sword or axe. That's why spears have been the main weapon of foot soldiers for thousands of years from the stone age to fire arms.

I've heard nothing but terrible things about Rings of Power. For once I simply spared myself the pain. When the show came out I just rewatched Lord of the Rings instead. Zero regrets

I loved how they tried to make everyone believe they hadn't figured out who Sauron was by the 2nd episode, and then when everybody was just not surprised one bit about who was revealed as Sauron....... they then acted like everyone was just sexist or racist because of Galadriel being a "Mary Sue" and the Black Elf 😂

Reading the battle near one of the forks of the trident in the books. The first one with Tyrion, is so insanely good. George knows how to write a battle scene.

@@brendano4196 it would’ve been too costly and I understand why they did it. Movies and TV have a habit of butchering battle scenes. Just count all the movies with flaming arrows in them. They just don’t understand historical battles. That was made apparent with the last 3 seasons of GoT. All the battles were terrible. Poorly thought out. Just going for “spectacle”.

Great question, and i’m not entirely sure of the answer. The Hound technically isn’t a knight but he probably still needs help with putting on his armor, so i’m guessing the guy following him around is his unofficial “squire” who helps him with his gear. I think the same guy brings Sandor wine later in the battle.

I disagree. I like the book portrayal but i appreciate them trying something very different with the character for the tv adaptation. I also wouldn't call him just another "good guy". I really like that he retained his commitment to prioritizing his own safety "I'm no hero" and "the big fish eat the little fish but i keep on paddling" (this does get screwed up as early as S4xE10 which i didn't appreciate) but in the show it think it provides a compelling conflict for his character. Him throwing Tyrion under the bus during the trial for Joffrey's murder was a stand out moment for me. One that we simply don't get in the books because that friendship never existed.

@@SaintWombo ok you can see it that way. But I also dont like that varys constandly tries suck tyrions dick as if tyrion was the best politician ever. In the books that makes sense becouse varys wants to manipulate him but if varys really wants a good leader he has way better options than tyrion

Yeah but I’m certain it won’t be so disastrously handled when it does happen. Fair enough on the Tyrion point. I’ll be highlighting his many missteps when i cover S9E10. Ur totally right, to say all of Tyrion’s decisions are spot on is inaccurate. I was trying to briefly illustrate how much better Tyrion was at navigating the Red Keep in comparison to Ned. But i should have been more precise about the way i worded it.
