The thing I think I hate the most about the whole "alpha male" trend is that there's no concrete definition of what exactly an alpha male is, yet an unfortunate number of men make it their whole personality. Concepts like this are especially dangerous because their vaguness creates room for the idea to become as destructive as possible without limits.
The "positive" examples of alpha male mentality are values like dependability, accountability, self-reliance, discipline, honesty, integrity, protectiveness and leadership. Where it becomes ... rotten, is when men fantasize about an ideal life of hedonistic pleasures without any self sacrifice or dedication - and are then frustrated that they aren't trrated like kings after not having made any effort. And the fact that guys have a need to name it "alpha" in the first place is the dumbest of all.

The worst ones are the relationship podcasts for men. I mean, I agree with the idea that even men should know their worth (and women’s relationship podcasts do the same thing), but I feel like the advice given to men basically tells them they are entitled to certain behaviors from women, which is kind of messed up. Knowing your worth is about getting out of relationships with manipulation, gas-lighting, and plainly unhappy relationships, not being entitled to certain behaviors (making dinner, losing weight, etc.) in who you’re dating… also why are all the more famous people who give relationship advice to women, men, yet men will only listen to other men for relationship advice? Maybe we should both get advice from a member of the opposite sex, someone who can actually give you another perspective instead of just bringing a bunch of people together to be angry together?
