I am pretty sure the diesel tractor produce way more wheel torque than the steam engine, with all the gear reduction. But the bar position was clearly an advantage for the steam tractor and that's why he winned, it was very unfair. + as you said the steam tractor is probably heavier so it could have helped, but idk how much it weight exatly.
this whole thing is about having traction (lots of weight and ok tires) and low enough gearing and/OR power. So tractor with extra weights should win almost anything!
Traction and weight wins. Angle of the rope and vehicle weight distribution also play a role. Sometimes the angle of the rope causes one vehicle to add lift to the other.
John Deere vs case personally don't have a preference but the John Deere is obliviously in four wheel drive with diff lock engaged and the case only has one wheel pulling
tugs of war usually come down to traction, the more powered surface area you have the better, but if you have no weight on top of that you'll just slip around, of course that 4x4 chevy won all, it had 6 wheels, but that 10 wheeled(all driven) M35 had probably 4 times the powered surface area of the front end loader, but the front end loader is (probaly) a few times heavier than the M35
@@haiderkazmi1734 that's actually not true. I farm and we plow to turn over soil and bury residue, and we don't do that to make new fields. Not only that but cultivating is removing weeds with a specialized piece of equipment.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think those are weights on john deer's rear tires which kinda gives him the advantage over the Case Puma that doesn't have them
Andrew Robinson also the tow strap wasn't level. the steam engen was Lifting the back of the tractor reducing the weight on the tires reducing traction.
Scary. We had twin brothers on the farm next to our's. They had a big IH tractor and a Big JD. they chained them together to see which would out pull the other. The chain snapped and hit Jim in the side of the head killing him instantly. about a year later, his twin John shot himself because of it. Dangerous Stuff !!!
GET REKT GAMING the Land Rover isn't in 4wd as all wheels weren't spinning Land rovers are all wheel drive but only the two with the least friction spin by locking the centre diff then all of the wheels spin so technically the Land Rover is in two wheel drive also
Dually has more grip compared to a single axle, even if it is in 4x4 or has wide tires. The dally has 4x4 without putting it there. There are six tires against 4. And if the dually was in two wheel drive and the single was in four, then by my logic the match should be fair. But there is more science in it that I really couldn't explain/don't know all of.
The q7 was at a disadvantage because the hillux had off-road tires and the q7 has a hybrid compound so it will grip alot less but on tarmac the q7 would batter the hillux because of it’s tdi v12 producing 700lbft torque
