@@andrewh25 Well there's always Fatboy Slim, and to some extent Basement Jaxx. I'd recommend 2 Mello (if you want more of that Hideki sound), and Deavid Soul, they're like a funky house/big beat hybrid.

'97 was one of those years where I basically can even remember the Top20 pop hits. It was an INCREDIBLE year for music.

Shit man, I remember 1997, you had trance, drum and bass and this weird big beat music that used to destroy dance floors up and down the country (The UK). I remember DJ's even mixing in grunge and Oasis and The Smiths tracks into their big beat sets, all live. It was amazing.

i think Funk is viewed as one of the ancestors of breakbeat. breakbeat is thought of an extention or even subgenre of funk.

I was spinning up here in Baltimore and philly in those days … my promoter got me a gig in Orlando, not really knowing that that area was huge on break beats.. I came down there and slammed the shit out of them with hard and progressive house… they ended up loving it, but I had to work for it! Lol miss those dazes

Смотря как посмотреть. Мне тоже под 40, но как раз в 90-е я брейкбит не особо воспринимал. Вернее, я тащился от The Prodigy как от одной из более жёстких версий этого спектра музыки, но в остальном добирался early hardcore и hard trance. Но мне очень нравится слушать брейкбит сейчас, особенно в более жёстких аранжировках более поздних музыкантов, работающих в брейкбит-спектре. Я вообще не люблю всякие вздохи про то как было здорово в детстве и т.п. У нас есть крутая возможность прямо сейчас мешать в кучу то что больше всего нам нравится за все годы что прошли. Это здорово.

Эра ломаных ритмов хоть зародившись, исчезла. Но оставила самородки для созерцания ушам на усладу. И эти плоды вечны.

:) Volume 2 is upcoming, but more industrial or guitar breakbeat sound, with The Prodigy & Junkie XL. There was many good stuff in 1997 but i decided only one track from the album, so no more Chemical Brothers. Mr. Scruff, Up Bustle and Out, u-Ziq, Way Out West, CoLD SToRAGE - great albums, they are in my playlist but too tripy , trancy for me :) Maybe i will need Volume 3 with this breakbeats. So much understyles in this music, because we like it! Amon Tobin - Piranha Breaks & Fatboy Slim - Going Out Of My Head was in EP. Anyway thakn you! You dropped an idea for me :)
