Hey guys and welcome to todays video where we are announcing the worlds best retinoid 2024 - what is your favourite, let me know in the comments below.. love you all x
I spent 3weeks on aGame10 as my 1st retinal/retinol & had zero issues, then dived straight into Ordinary Retinal and havent looked back. My skin just responds amazingly to it and has never looked and felt so good, at 43. Zero adult acne, prev scars and hyperpigmentation have faded or gone, skin is glowing, bouncy and even. Holy grail.
I appreciate The Ordinary adding to their retinoids with retinal. I am unable to understand why they started with 0.20%, which is the highest Medik8 comes in. I wish for The Ordinary to have started with a range of percentages. When comparing prices: 30ml of 0.20% of TO (2 vials) is $30USD and 30ml of 0.20% of the Medik8 20 is $120 USD, or four times as much. I use Beauty of Joseon Revive Eye Serum 0.02% and ❤Geek and Gorgeous 5 and 10, the 0.05% for my neck and 0.10% for my face.
Oh thats amazing and I am so so glad the ordinary one is working so well for you.. its strong but if your skin can tolerate it then it delivers such great results.. x
♥ I've been trying as many retinoids as I can, but out of these three have only tried The Ordinary so far. I like the small container for travel and I like the fact that I can pick it up at my local Sephora. I'd love to try the Medik8 next. I'm fighting an uphill battle against age and hyperpigmentation/melasma and trying to decide if I just need a prescription retinoid. Thanks for another fun and interesting video! You always make me smile!
I second the feel of the Medik8 being divine. Thanks for the personal note that came with my MAS skin perfecting peptide serums, Rob- my skin is loving it, it is very hydrating and sinks into the skin beautifully ❤
Used Ordinary retinal for about 1.5 months, used retinol before. It did not help with my acne as retinol did. Started to get pimples here and there after a while. Not like purging, more like I had no remedy at all. Used more than one "bottle", but no difference. No irritation at all. I started to use a-game this week, so only 3 days of usage, little early to tell, but the acne I have started to shrink, acne that were started to pop up has slowed down and no new clusters so far. It looks promising so far, seems to get the effect that got from retinol but without irritation (so far). I am not just using it for getting rid of acne, but also for some acne scars that will take years of usage to get rid of. It would be horrible if you would use a product for years and it had no effect, so I cannot continue to use the Ordinary one if I don't see an effect on preventing acne as it would be too long time time and potential wasted time to evaluate it for scars. If a game works for preventing acne at least I would know that the formula is working. Retinal is very unstable and is why there are few products out there compared to retinol. You want a brand that is successful stabilizing it, but hard for a consumer to know...
I love you so much because of your honesty. I always click Like on your videos, even if a subject maybe is not for me. I do that just because I would like for you to stay so independent and true to your self and if that is the way we can help to you and your chanel then that is what I will continue to do 😊
❤ I've been using Differin gel.. I'll have to look at see what all that is again to see what strength I get. I want the medik8 but I think considering $ ill do drugstore to start. Thank you! Love your content. It is extremely informative
Thanks for introducing me to geek and gorgeous, definitely helped my under eyes, I will continue to use this forever, they better never discontinue it, it's such a fear of finding something that works. Patience though, it started working about mid way through my second bottle.
How these products compare to other famous retinal serums out there like: Maelove, KSecret and Naturium? Please make a retinal video comparing all options in the market and classify them by strength % 😊
Using The Ordinary 0.2% Retinal nightly ever since it launched. It's Holy Grail for me--no irritation or stinging, minimal peeling, doesn't exacerbate my type ii rosacea. Great results, especially in shrinking pores. Absolutely love it. xx.
PS I'd so happily try G and G, but it costs so much to ship it to Canada. Hopefully it'll be more accessible some day soon. In the meantime, loving the Ordinary's offering (I'm a seasoned retinal user though). x
Geek & gorgeous ❤ although I'll try the TO one when I've worked through my current A Game stock... also love your retinal mixed with body moisturizer. When you come out with a body moisturizer you should really sell them as a set as well 😊
Hi Rob, I use your retinal and very happy thank you. Also I have been using your sunscreen and oh boy my skin is fantastic. Glowing, clear etc. I put one layer on wait 5 minutes and put another layer on. Not sure whats in it but my skin is fantastic. Don’t even need a moisturiser in the mornings now. Thank you very much.
Oh thank you so so much for this comment which has put a massive smile on my face :) I am delighted its working so well for you hun and thank you so much for your support.. I cant wait for it to be back in stock in the new packaging in the next month :) love xx
I used a low strength No. 7 retinol for a while but my sensitive skin didn't like it. Then I moved on to the ordinary granactive retanoid emulsion but I wasn't sure if I was getting much benefit from it. I'm currently using Beauty of Joseon retinal eye serum as a full face serum and my skin seems to like it. I think it's only 0.02% retinal though. I might try the 0.05% geek and gorgeous next and see how I tolerate it. Great video as always Rob, love having a cup of coffee and listening to you talk skincare 👍
I have really sensitive skin, so I had to start really slow, and I’m poor. 😜 I like the Naturium Retinaldehyde Cream Serum. I started with the .05% and have worked my way up to the .10%. It took me nearly a year and a half, but I can finally use it every night, and am just now beginning to be able to use it more on my neck. I plan on trying The Ordinary’s .20% one day, but I’m going to wait awhile and then slowly ease it in.
Adore and use Geek & Gorgeous A Game 10, and wanted to move to the higher strength Retinal, so I loved that you introduced me to K Secret Seoul 1988 2% and absolutely no irritation at all, but it's too soon to see results except for a bit of extra glow 😊😊😊
⭐ P.S. So, as a quick follow-up: is a Retinol stronger than say a Granactive Retinoid - as in The Ordinary's two types re their Retinal vs. Granactive Retinoid?!? 😊
Hi Robert .. I tried the three of them! Medik8 is great (I used the 10 and 20 .. I struggled with the 20 because is thicker and needs to layered on a slightly wet skin) but the AGame 10 G&G is fantastic to use and spread on my face .. I have recently used the Ordinary one .. I like it very much but I still need to spread it on slightly wet skin .. still struggling to calculate the right quantity of water before spreading it ! I like the Ordinary one but it finishes quickly ! I always get super helpful information from you .. Thanks you so much for your videos ! 🥰
I've been using Differin for acne and never felt interest in trying cosmetic ones, I guess at least something good out form having blemishes :D ...works well and hard to beat the price (I get it through the GP) and it's not overly aggressive
Love this. Agree with choices after trying several brands. I use medik8 cleansers toners moisturizers but toggle between these two top notch optiins. Find they both workable news a s s balance. Won't be returning vibrations anytime soon as skin shows me it loves retinal. Thanks as always xx
It would be really helpful for those that are new to these type of products as to where this is used in the skincare regime ie. After toner, before moisturiser etc. Can you consider this when making your videos, which are very informative, but could go that one step more. X
I highly recommend going to a dermatologist and getting a retinol/tretinoin prescribed. You’ll get an amount of active ingredients that actually works and supervision and guidance
Oh I think if its an option for you then its a good one.. many cant afford or cant get to a derma so its nice to have OTC options.. Here in the UK it can be really hard to get a derma appointment and the ones you do get can be £200 for a consult which is a lot for many x
There’s quite a bit more cost involved it that. Plus as some have pointed out, lab muffin science, doctorly, skin can only take so much vitamin A at a time. So emulsions/encapsulation of vitamin A in OTC products does lead to less irritation but also similar results, just takes a bit longer. While prescription vitamin A hasn’t really changed since it first came on the market in the 1990s. It’s classified as a drug and getting approvals for drugs is very expensive and any change to a formula means it has go through the same procedure, so it hasn’t. While OTC companies can innovate without the expense of getting approval.
@@MadAboutSkin I go to an aesthetics dr who does my skin enhancing etc and she prescribes skincare too - I only pay for the product (she gives me a discount code too to use in obagi site) so it’s not much more than the highest strength medik8. Yes not cheap but the results I’ve seen in 3 mths make me realise that the expensive products I was using for years from Paula’s choice, drunk elephant, Sunday Riley etc were doing very little to my skin
@@MadAboutSkin Yep. I can't afford it. The thing keeping me from getting a prescription product certainly wasn't waiting for a RU-vid comment to "highly recommend" it! 😂
I have a prescription for Tretinoin and I don't even use it because it makes me peel and itch and I never get past that stage! As y'all know, skincare only works if you're consistent…so I like using these gentler formulations. At least I use them daily 😊
Ive had a few tubes of G+G abd loved it. I was hoping for a stronger version when the ordinary launched. I use the ordinary under my eyes as its my more problematic area and G+G everywhere else. I love them both. But i too wish ordinary would do bigger tubes of it.
I can't wait to try the ordinary product. I currently have medik8 .1% and I love the smell and I hate fragranced products. I also have the allies of skin retinal & peptides repair night cream, which I use more often but I think it is time to phase it out as it is only a .05% compared to the .2% of the ordinary or the most potent medik8.
Hi Rob, think I will get Geek low dosage to get used to it as bought the Ordinary, but after your advice will not go into using it straight away! Thank you for another great video x
Again...thanks for a fabulous video ❤ i use the ordinary 0.2 and really like it. I have used retinoids forever, had geek and gorgeous come in stronger than 0.1 I'd have liked to try it though. Xxx
In Europa medicare e molto molto caro.. x gente normale. G&G a-game10 è molto conveniente.. E adesso mi hai confermato che È un buonissimo prodotto. Un abbraccio dal'Italia.😊❤
Can I use the ordinary granactive retinoid 2% in squalane as a virgin in my retinol journey? I have never used retinol before. If not, which retinol should I use instead? Btw, I love your videos.
Hi hun, yes I think that would be a great starter option for sure hun, its a lovely product.. thank you so much for your kind words and sending you so much love x
Personnally, I am currently using the Theramid Clinical vitamin A treatment. It has 0,1% retinal, 0,3% retinol and 5% granactive retinoid and the texture is nice. I lie it.
❤️ I use Geek & Gorgeous but I still have dry flakes on my face from time to time can you demonstrate if & how you layer up products on your face before using Retinal, because of the dry flakes I don’t use every night because I may be having a meeting or got family round and don’t wish to here the standard remark of “eeeww you got dry flaky skin” 😂 and I want to be consistent with it, so a demonstration on yourself would be great because I never see you with flaky skin ..thank you 🩷
Hi 👋🏼 Rob. Currently I’m using the Geek and gorgeous agame 10. But I have the ordinary waiting in my drawer ☺️ I’m wondering if you have any experience with Dermatica? And what you would think about their products? I’m just not really getting anywhere with my hyperpigmentation and I’m thinking about maybe giving Dermatica a chance with hydroquinone and tretinoin as ingredients 🤷🏻♀️
I’ll switch to retinal when I’m done with my retinol from the ordinary (I alternate with granactive retinoid from TO as well). I have to ask: is there any Asian brand that does any good retinal products ?
Hi hun, the products are all being rebranded as we speak and that process is almost complete so I expect them all to be back in stock in the next month :) love x
I know it very well. Skintra isn't so strong as it seems, because their retinal is in oils. Zero sides effects. And zero visible good effects. In my opinion it dosnt work at all.
Am I the only one who absolutely cannot stand Medik8?.. I hated the scent from the first application and besides my stubbornness and dedication of applying it religiously for 3 months it gave me no positive results but absolutely ruined my skin. I have developed the most horrible sensitivity 😢
Oh I am sorry to hear that but all our skin is different so it wont work for everyone.. I love the scent but I know its subjective so it wont be everyones idea of nice lol x
What about a body retinal lotion? I've really been trying to get full body skincare. Don't want a flawless face and everywhere else aged much more. Does anyone have suggestions? 39 year old male that has a very solid face/neck routine (yes, tretinoin and spf). But starting to want to do more for shoulders, arms, chest, etc. Thanks, love you all
Hey hun, how are you? I agree a retiol body lotion would be a great find but there are so few out there which is a shame.. I hope to start work on one in the coming months as I think there is a real gap in the market.. love x
@MadAboutSkin Oh my, a MAS retinal body lotion. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do that. You're right, there's certainly a gap in the industry there. When you can, could you please look at Gold Bond's retinol and peptides body lotion? I came across it and thought is this too good to be true?? Would LOVE your thoughts. Much love from the US.
I would love to buy more expensive products, however, I like to put food on my table more. Maybe pay my electric bill and put gas in my car, so I can get to work and pay my mortgage. G&G all the way!! FJB and his dementia and build back better, lets MAGA with Trump!!!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I agree that with the cost of everything going up we have to watch the coins and thankfully brands like G&G give us great results without the high price point x
Salut Rob, after using G&G for a year, my skin plateaued and I switched to the Ordinary. Goodness, it’s stronger! Smaller yes, but it’s the first one that gave me a little bit of purging, which never happened with the lower strength granactive retinioid and then G&G retinal that I used prior. The skin stabilised now, but they aren’t joking when it comes to strength huh. Thanks for the video 😊 and greetings from France! Ps. It seems TO one is more hydrating than G&G.
I love the Geek and Gorgeous ones. It actually gave me glass skin. The ordinary retinal serum is probably one of the best launches since acquisition. I don't like Estee Lauder owning them but thank God they didn't run it to the ground.
Oh I am so so glad its working for you hun and I agree with the ordinary I think the esteemed Lauder acquisition actually made them better which shocked me x
The Medik8 is the best when it comes to retinols. Though now for my face I use prescription, and for my neck and chest area I use retinol (after using an essence and HA😀) and then a thick moisturizer
Brilliant Chanel and great reviews mate. I am very glad I found Your videos they are a wealth of good solid advice. I have been using basic moisturizers for a few Years and have recently gone into better skin care over a more refined approach over the last few Months. I dont drink much alcohol at all and have done tons of research into nutrition etc. The info out there is quite daunting mate but Your advice is much better and practical. One question I have please is how do oils like coconut oil and avocado oil compare to Retinal's and Serums in terms of proteins and vitamins in the skin and can You combine them both. I bought both the coconut oil and Avocado recently and tried them but the only thing which was frustrating was the oils themselves tend to get transferred onto everything you touch afterwards even if You wash Your hands etc. I am yet to buy sun cream but I do have a theory on why its such a good product besides its normal intended purpose. I used to work in a factory and we had this solution called "Barrier cream" which was basically applied to the hands and after a shift washed off and it stopped any contaminants and chemicals getting on Your skin. I think sun cream acts in a similar way but also stops light itself fading the skin. Not just stopping the harmful rays but also stopping the fading process even when its not sunny. Like when You put a newspaper outside and can see the text and paper fade in not a lot of time I am convinced that skin acts like this and sun cream reflects the fading process. Would be cool to see if there was any research done on just fading of skin from normal light. I saw Chris Gibsons RU-vid Channel and the guy looks 35 when He is actually 60 and He keeps saying that sun cream used for Many Years has literally saved his skin its quite amazing when You see Him. I started using pure Aloe Vera Gel a few Years back and it was my Birthday last Year and this worker i know in Mcdonalds thought I was 33. I am 53 lol Also mate what are Your thoughts on laser resurfacing. It seems to be the holy grail. Many thanks Bro. Your advice is great and Your skin. Keep rocking :))))
Hi Rob, as usual I want to express my appreciation for your competence, your ethics and generosity in sharing with us your knowledge 👍🏻About six months ago I switched from retinol to retinal. I'm using Medik8 ❤ and I totally agree with you: I'm very satisfied with the results, my skin is smoother and more toned, the pores appear reduced and the complexion is more uniform, without any sign of irritation or dryness. It also goes perfectly with MAS Peptide Serum 😉
Yes, he doesn't get enough recognition for his standards. Glad we're letting him know though. Love our little furry friends. Am I terrible for rather having them test on humans if they insist they must do one or the other?
❤ live medik8, I have been using it for 3 years, started with the 0.6 and now use the 20, I have never had any reaction to it even when moving up a strength, I also love their crystal retinol eye serum, now I use tretinoin but use the medik8 on my neck and hands, I wouldn't be without it, I know it's expensive but 1 tube lasts a long time so I think it is worth it. Sending you lots of love and thanks for the videos
I agree with you hun, its a little pricy but you do get a lot of uses out of it which is nice and I think its a greta product with lots of innovation.. sending you so much love x
