For anyone watching this in the future Naturium has a new .05% retinaldahyde in a 1.7 Oz airless tube for $29!! Yes 29$ for almost 2 ounces and is literally THE BEST texture of retinal I’ve ever used in my life. It’s not as staining as geek and gorgeous and shipping is free at $30. It doesn’t have the vitamin c like medik8 nor does it have the vanilla fragrance but mannn it’s so good! I use it on my neck and chest and tretinoin on my face❤
This was exactly the review I was looking for, thank you! I've been loving the medik8 retinal and have been thinking about trying G&G because of my budget for a while now.
Geek and Gorgeus, just adore it! I use it almost one year, looking better in time! I also combine it with Avene Clearance for better results! Fantastic!!! and in logic cost! Love from Crete Greece Eva
Geek & Gorgeous A-Retinal broke me out I was using Crystal Retinal prior to that so I moved to Avene A-Oxitive Night Peeling Cream/Balm in the US known as Retrinal 0.1 and I was happy I moved to K-beauty products with Retinal since then and seeing better results
I use G&G and I’m very happy. Ok you have postal charges but lots of good products there so you’ll certainly find other produits that you will love (and eventually get free shipping) like a (real) vitamin C serum with ferulic acid and vitamin E (a little bit like the skinceuticals), a serum for sensitive skin (the stressless) …. Definitely worth a try !
The Geek & Gorgeous Jelly Joker Cleanser is also super nice! Luxurious, thick, non-foaming gel texture that leaves the skin feeling soft and not stripped.
Thank you Claire, this comparison video was really helpful, as I am using at present a retinal 5 and I wanted to try the 10.. When I saw in another video of yours the Geek & Gorgeous version I was puzzled and uncertain as the price was much more affordable but I was wondering about the quality comparison .. I will let you know my own experience 👍😊 Cristina from London (UK)
I love Medik8 retinal but my budget doesn't. I looked at G&G and read great things about it- but I'm in the U.S. There are two excellent retinal alternatives for us here. One is Mychelle retinal - roughly $38 and Maelove Moonglow- $36. I've used them both and love them. I'm partial to Maelove for their Glowmaker Vit C ferulic- so I normally get their retinal. I tried lots of retinol products with little result- retinaldehyde was the retinoid that CHANGED my skin. I'm 68 so I dont expect miracles- but retinal has tightened and lifted my skin. It's reduced the appearance of pores and fine lines without irritation. It is a wonderful ingredient!
Thank you so much for sharing your positive experiences with retinal products :) Have you noticed any hair loss (eg thinning eyebrows, etc) from using retinal? I really want to try retinal but I am scared of it causing hair loss. All best wishes ^_^
This was very useful I use the Geek & Gorgeous Retinal 10. I've been happy. My skin is markedly better with ought irritation. I was wondering if the Medi8 would be even better. You've answered my question. I've doing very well and don't need to look elsewhere for now.
Thank you so much! I am a university student and paying that much money for retinal was seriously troubling me. As I live in Europe, I will DEFINETLY try the other brand next!!
Great comparison video, all the information I was looking for!Short and to the point👍I am about to finish my first tube of Medik8 and really did not want to spend even more on the next strength level😏
Thanks. The medik8 is slow release which made me think it might be gentler for skins that struggle to tolerate. I personally have learnt to the ^G& G for lighter, fragrance free cheap reasons but haven’t been able to try as I’ve damaged my barrier
This was really helpful Clare .. I love the G and G C glow, so I will def pick-up the retinal whilst I am on the site .. and maybe a few other products- .. at those prices you really couldn't go wrong!
I'm so glad to see such a professional video reviewing one of my favourite brands! I'm from hungary, and since it's a hungarian brand, it's easier to access it and I couldn't be happier. This video made my day☺️
Always a pleasure watching you 😃 Have you tried Medik8 Retinoate? Its strong but really good and better then tretinoin in my case. Thanks for all your excellent videos!🙏🏻
@@Almay20 hello, I see medik8 no 3 first but have now moved onto no 6. I have experienced a second round of purging moving up a level but nothing serious. I use the G&G 0.05. I actually really like both and find one day of each followed by one day off works well for my skin type. I also use Dr Sam brightly in the morning with Evy sunscreen every day. Even in winter. I use basic plain moisturiser which i apply both morning and night. G&G is way cheaper and not as cosmetically elegant as M8. But both seem to work well. X
Are you still using the G&G A Game today? Any updates? Btw such a high quality and great review. Feels like I'm watching an actual profesional TV show.
Thanks so much for this review, I was wondering about the 2 companies. Medik8 was out of my comfort zone in pricing but so many people rave about it. Have you tried the Maelove product line, its around $36.00 for it's Retinal. BTW, you look so much like the actress Julia Styles or Stiles, not sure how she spell her last name.
Hi. I’ve not tried Maelove’s retinal as it doesn’t seem to be readily available in the UK. However, I just took a look at the site and the product appears to be of similar strength to the Medik8 and Geek and Gorgeous retinal 10 serums so looks like it could be a good option for you. I’d love to hear how you get on if you do decide to try it : )
@Klara Kristina i enjoy it because its the only one I can use. My skin cant tolerate even la roche posay's redermic retinol. With this it doesnt make my skin red and I can feel the effects still. So its only retinal that I can use
I use Tretinoin on my face & retinal on my neck & chest. I love the Avene .1 RetRinal which i just finished a sample of. It’s less expensive than the MediK8 (which I can’t use because it uses essential oils) but more expensive than G&G A Game. I’ve been looking for a comparison between Avene 1.0 and the G&G 1 because I wanted to try G&G until I learned that it’s 1.0 is not encapsulated the way it’s .5 is. (The Avene 1.0 IS encapsulated and I’m afraid to switch to something that isn’t that will potentially leave my skin more irritated.) I also do not want something that is going to stay in my pajamas or pillowcases. It’s some thing I reached out to ask G&G about before I saw your video and they claimed it doesn’t do this, but I wasn’t convinced given the color. The Avene is more of a pale peach. I’m really only using RetrinAL on neck and chest to see if I can work my way up to using tretinoin there too as ideally, I would not be using products that could stain and would like to simplify my routine. Curious if you’ve tried the Avene RetrinAL 1.0 since you made this video and if so, how do you think they compare? Also, since you made this video, The Ordinary came out with a .5 oz of 2% retinal & Allies of Skin came out with what is apparently a 2-3.5% supercharged ingredient retinal although they don’t clearly state the exact %age, just that it has a ton of peptides and other amazing ingredients but it’s the most expensive by far. You may have a more recent video. If I’ve missed it, please let me know. Thanks so much!
Hi there. Good to hear you're a fellow retinal fan. I haven't tried the Avene retinal I'm afraid. I use either G&G or another retinal by Naturium in general. I'm not a big switcher if I find products that really work for me. In my experience neither stains the pillows yellow and both are non-irritating.
I currently use Medik 8 and am considering using Geek & Gorgeous after watching your review. I find that the Medik 8 stains my pillowcase. Have you found a way round that? And does the Geek& Gorgeous do the same? Thanks for your videos Claire. I never miss one👍
Thanks so much for watching Annie. It’s not great that Medik8 is staining your pillowcases. Mine are beige so I haven’t noticed anything. That said, I usually do my skincare routine a couple of hours before I go to bed so it may just have fully absorbed into my skin. Geek and Gorgeous is bright yellow so I couldn’t guarantee it wouldn’t stain. It does absorb quite quickly into the skin though. Might be worth a try.
If u spend 60 free shipping now 7.95 if u dont hit that 60 and all their products are amazing and the retinal is 14$ im thinking of buying it or the medik8 durning the BF skinstore sale its 32$ . Im alittle scared to try retinal retinol products again my skin hates it last year i tried trent it did not go well .
Considering how much you are paying for the retinal products, have you considered trying tretinoin through Dermatica? Dermatica is an online dermatologist in UK, that will assess your skin remotely and prescribe the product. (I am not affiliated with them.) In America, we have similar services called Curology and Agency. They give the first month free with a $5 handling fee. So there isn't much risk. I ask because I, also, have been using retinal products for some time and have decided to try Agency in the new year. So many women on RU-vid rave about the results and personally, I like the idea of the consultation with the dermatologist rather than trying to self-prescribe. Love your channel!
Thanks Elyse! I’ve looked at Dermatica and I am interested in giving tretinoin a go. Like you I’ve seen other RU-vidrs rave about it but there’s something holding me back at the moment. I think I’ll do some heavy research into it and report back in a video in the NY.
I just found out about Geek & Geogeous... I have used retinol 0.3% before and get used to it now. I was thinking of upgrading my retinol to a higher percentage like 0.5 or 1%. Then I found out about retinal and I want to try out the retinal from Geek&geogeous... but I don't know whether I should purchase the A5 or 10? Do you have any recommendation?
Hi. I would recommend starting with the A5 and then move up to the 10 from there, just so your skin can adjust slightly. You'll still start seeing results with the 5 retinal.
I have very very sensitive skin I'm 50 years old not sure where to start I started with retin A that's where a lot of people say to start but I'm still very sensitive not sure what to use
Hi Wendy. So glad to have you as a subscriber 💕 I’ve got to say the Medik8 serum is very gentle on your skin. Their retinal range starts from low strength (and these serums are cheaper) so that would be a good place to start and you could move up to higher strength and try other brands or go back to your retin A/tretinoin from there once you’ve built up a tolerance. Hope that helps!
This was super helpful. Thank you. The G&G can stain (within the first 30 minutes or so) anything that it touches. Does the medik8 have the same issue?
Someone else mentioned the staining and tbh I hadn’t noticed because I have a taupe coloured pillow and usually do my nighttime routine an hour or so before bed. Medik8 is also highly coloured so there’s a fair chance it has a similar issue if you applied it and went straight to bed but I can’t be sure.
I find the medik8 quite thick and harder to spread. I have to use a lot more to do my whole face. I cant see the tube lasting long so I have ordered Geek and Gorgeous as a replacement already.
Hello to you, if you live in the UK , why don't you try avène " oxitive peeling nuit' and " oxitive eyes" at 0.1% retinaldehyde , or in the us retrinal 0.1 %, it used to be called "ystéal"( in France ) 0.05% rétinal and "ystéal intensif" 0.1% rétinal...also, "triacneal expert soin emulsion" 0.1% rétinal and last " cleneance woman nuit " but I don't know whether or not it's 0.05 or 0.1 % retinal, although many say it's 0.1%. ...TBD.!! voilà !
Hi. Thanks for the suggestion. I’ve heard from other viewers that this is a good product but I can’t find it in the UK. I’d need to order from the US and pay a shipping fee which makes it quite costly.
Wow you can really see a difference on the before and after pics. Especially on the upper eyes, neck and along the jawline. I have an issue with large looking pores. Did you find the retinal helpful for that if you have that issue? Great video, many thanks for sharing.
@@aytacniyazova914 I found they were really similar in their effectiveness and are the same strength. The Medik8 is slightly gentler on the skin but they are both good choices.
She answered another comment, above, about staining of pillowcases. She said that she does her skincare several hours before bed and uses a moisturizer on top (and hasn’t noticed any staining of pillowcases).
Hello dear thank you for this informative video i want to buy all retinal 3/6/10 and keep using the 10 .. I’m 29 is it okay to use the 10 also how long does one tube last me (3month or less ) it’s not available so I’m gonna order them online
Hi Sam. If you've not used retinal before I would start off low and build up. It's fine to use this at 29, although I always think the best thing for young people to do is just protect your naturally youthful skin with sunscreen - then you don't have to worry so much about anti-aging treatments : )
