Hey Everyone, today we are doing an awesome walk-around of Ben's Lexus GX470! This platform is amazing because there are many luxurious features on this car while still maintaining the reliability people want. Not to mention the added torque of a V8 and the rear swing out door like a Jeep or Land Rover. If that's an '05 then it's rated @ 263hp and 323 lb-ft

That's wrong. Here's from Lexus for the 2005: The 2005 model year, the GX 470's engine gained 26 kW (35 hp) with the addition of VVT-i for a total of 201 kW (270 hp).

@@stewjd01 You're half right...check the ratings up to '09. It's no big secret that the first year of an engine upgrade that the manufacturer will bump up the numbers (fuel economy and power). What really happened is in '06 SAE standards got stricter and Lexus had to revise their original claims of 270hp down to 263hp...since there were no changes between '05 to '09, 263hp is the correct number for an '05.

Love the GX. Love the 4Runner too but its basically a 5th gen 4Runner with a V8 and for maybe 1/3 of the price.

You’re short changing the power output on these. A 2005 model has 270hp and 330 lbs-ft, and ALL GX470’s have 5 speed transmissions. If you guys are doing reviews the specs quoted should be correct to give you credibility

This guy seems super nice, but he said a lot of wrong things about the gx470. For example KDSS means your truck has different sway bars and hasn’t nothing to do with shocks. Also the gx470 has around 320 pound feet of torque not 250 and all gx470’s come with 5 speed transmissions.

I think he mentioned the 5 speed which is why he got the 2005. Thanks for the numbers and KDSS feedback! Our primary goal was the share the build but I’ll make sure to have accurate numbers for future videos!

I agreed. I was looking at the gx470 back in 2019 before the pandemic and i can easily find one for under 9k. I recently bought a 2021 forester sport but sometimes still looking for one of this. None that I can find below 10k.

@@OverlandEngineer My 2008 with 140,000 was just under 10K with a perfect dash and I checked it over good. Drove it 150 miles home with no issues. Sure I put a couple grand in it over the last year. But I'm not paying $600+ a month for a newer car that might do what this can.

I have a 2008 GX470 and in order to make it look good I had to put new wheels and tires because with other stock wheels it looks gay haha. He needs bigger tires and better looking wheels, it looks ugly like that. In order to compensate for the lift

Best overland platform for under 10k? A Chevy Tahoe with a G80 rear diff. Is it cool? No. Are parts everywhere and cheap? Yes.....but does it have the clout a yota does? No way
