If you want to quiet your zipper put bow wax on them and add para cord to the tab so it’s easier to find them in the dark. There are lots of RU-vid videos on how to make para cord extenders for your zipper tab. Good luck this year.
So I have this pack in an older incarnation for work and I love it. Was just about to order an alps little bear and this video might have changed my mind. Funny how you can have something right in front of you and not see the potential until someone else shows you a different use!!! Great video!!!
best pack by far, I took he y strap on top and tie wrapped to the mollies on side so I can carry sticks vertically .for me distributes weight better....the outside pouch fits ozonics perfect....thanks for the video.
Hey man I literally just ordered this pack, after watching your video I was super helpful in helping me make a decision on which pack to go with. Not sure if the company gives you some kick back (they should if they don’t) but thanks for the good content man, keep it coming!
Great video! I just got this pack off eBay for Christmas. The great thing is it’s a factory defect (no water bladder port) and I got it for only $24.00! I don’t use a water bladder so it’s perfect for me. I use the Predator platform and 5 WE steps for climbing. I just need to figure out the best way to attach my steps.
I tried this pack for saddle hunting. The sling around feature is useful, but it is also noisy. I believe the issue is the material of the pack. Might not be as loud depending on the clothes it’s contacting as it makes that transition. ALSO, any brush that contacts it will make a bunch of noise. You mentioned it, but carrying any weight with a sling bag for distances is going to be uncomfortable. I toted maybe 10 lbs in it and after 1-2 miles regretted it.
Was at the tethrd tech n train you hosted. Just ordered the v3 pack for hunting with My saddle. Super excited to set it up and get ready for the upcoming season
Thanks for sharing. The sling functionality especially while up the tree seems a natural fit instead of a backpack. I may have to try this out this season.
You ever considered doing a video where you compare the time it takes you to go from arriving at the tree to fully setup, in your climber vs your saddle setup? Maybe use some time lapse... You get bonus points if you do it in the dark ;) I still can't make the jump to saddles, but it's getting more tempting.
I carried same sticks on my pack like that last year. Lots of times ended up carrying them by hand after the first break on the way in. Mostly climbing on a rope this year for weight but still a place for the huntin sticks in my arsenal!
I have a sling pack. I find they are good compact packs that should mainly be a alternate system. Weight should be kept at a minimum, they are meant to be quick and somewhat light.
Could you wear it over your other shoulder and use the extra strap with some padding (seatbelt padding, old backpack padding or similar) to share the weight over both shoulders? Sew on the padding if needed. Then just unclip and rotate in the other direction.
The strap is curved to be on the left shoulder only. But I totally get what you're saying! I'm potentially looking into adding kidney belt of some type to more evenly distribute the weight.
Great video! I keep my phone in a pocket on my jacket or coveralls, and I keep that pocket zipped up. That way, if I fall out of the tree I can still call for help (providing that I'd still be conscious and the phone isn't smashed). I've been looking for a pack like this.
You should try that new Trophyline mission platform. I remember you being uncomfortable doing some movements on the one you have. The mission is heavier but gives much more foot room for us bigger guys with 12 or 13 size feet.
They're custom cut from rubber coated steel wire from HME. Spool of 25ft is just a few bucks and I can cut and use any length I need. These are around 14-16".
excellent video...I just purchased the Cruzr XC saddle with their plaform as a bundle. the platform is 14.5 wide and 11.25 deep...will that fit in the 3V pack?
Hi, thanks for good videos! Great job! Look, based on the video, you are not using tether for climbing tree. I used to climb same way for years, but now switched to tether as main and lineman as limb cure only. Love it! Wat more comfortable and safe. Good luck. ;-) P.S. after almost year of use... Very good for EDC. Not so good for hunting. It is too loud for deer hunting (as material, as zippers). I can make it to work, but it does not worth it. Sling is not a dramatic improvement when you have tether in front of you also.
Would this be a good pack to use when carrying in a summit viper? Looking for a new pack or fanny pack to carry on my front rather than putting on the climber adding weight to it.
Hello, Nice Pack. Nice price. I was wondering however if the pack would fit a Ridge Runner platform? The dimensions suggest that it would but not sure. 30 day moey back guarantee i guess i should just find out, but if someone already knows then it would save time. Thanks
Nice video AJA. Now that you have a season under your belt with the Outlaw II, still liking the setup or have you moved to something else? Thanks in advance....
Great review. Would you use this pack as a combo saddle/climbing pack AND to pack-out a whitetail deer...haul turkey decoys? If not I'm all ears for a suggestion.
Great videos, question my sticks are 27inches could I mount them on the side of this pack? Also why 2 attachments on your tether? And is the second one attached to you lineman’s rope made like a bridge? Thanks
Pack is around 19" top to bottom so there'd be around 8" cumulative overhang. Don't see why you couldn't go to the side! Definitely want to stagger 2 and 2 or 1 and 2 depending on how many you carry. And yes, mini bridge made by Lineman's belt as precaution.
Have you looked into the Mystery Ranch Two Day Assault pack? There's a video on Saddle Hunter FB page and it looks nearly perfect for carrying a predator platform and sticks.
Oh definitely I've looked into MR packs! Some of the best in the business. But in terms of price point it's hard to beat the difference between the MR and the 3V.
Im saddle hunting for the first time this year and love the info to help make me as lite weight as possible...What is the brand of the mini sticks you are using?
Those are API huntin sticks that I have modified to a mini stick. Look at my video on making my own mini sticks and diy platform to see the full build!
That's EXACTLY how I run it now! If RU-vid would let me, I'd attach a photo. But I run the pack molle'd to the outside pockets and it leaves the interior to run other things and even my 2L water bladder.
I ended up molle-ing the predator pack to the outside instead of the sticks. Ran the sticks separately slung over my shoulder. Much less weighty system for me. Carried other gear on the inside instead of the pack.
@@averagejackarchery Thank You for the reply! I think I will try a universal shotgun sling on my sticks and attach my platform to my steps. As simple and as convenient as it looks I don't really need another pack! Lol! I appreciate your reply! Good Luck!
Hey man so I’ve been bouncing back and forth between using this pack and my big pack, when you hike in a mile or so how do you pack your deer out, do you drag or walk back to the truck to get a meat shelf and quarter them up?
I live your videos but I feel this one was a little dramatic. Although I will look into this pack for I will be a 1st year saddle hunter this year. Keep up the great info.
This is a great video, very informative. I've been looking for a "saddle pack" for a while. Yours seem awesome. I also carry my predator in its pouch inside the pack. I am also an exclusively public land hunter in mid-michigan, so I can relate to you on the need to going in deep, light and mobile, as it's harder to pattern humans than to pattern deer LOL. The difference in my case is that I usually don't carry my pack on me when climbing, but I bring it up with the bow line (bound the bow to the pack). So my routine is to take the pack off, get the sticks and predator (hang the pouch from a tie on my saddle webbing too ). bundle up pack and bow and clip to bow line and start climbing. So. This is the pack I use: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0833DCDVJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 it is very inexpensive and it's compact and it has many pouches and the molle webbing allows you to carry sticks tied below the back or tied to the sides (my preferred way). Now, watching you video, I wonder if I could add a single removable strap and transform my backpack into a single strap messenger bag just before climbing. It may be the best of both words. Any thoughts?
