Oh thank God. Finally an instructional for this bracelet that isn't convoluted and confusing! Thanks so much. After numerous other videos and as many failed attempts, I watched this video and finished the bracelet in about 5 minutes. My son is a happy boy! Thanks again!
I've been watching several tutorials on RU-vid today and I have to say your video is the BEST! You give very easy to understand instructions...simple and to the point. Thanks so much!!
Dude! My son wanted one of these and of course making one defaulted to me. I went crazy trying to make one. I watched several videos and every time, I bombed. I tried to pass less than stellar weaving by my son but to no avail I was about ready to pull my hair out. Then I found your video! Thank you! Very methodical, easy to follow and with good views of actual weaving... so that folks like me could finally 'get it'! My son was thrilled and he liked your Southern accent too.
I love your videos ! I like the cobra braid method you use and find myself mesmerized by your gentle voice . I swear, you are the Bob Ross of paracord instruction !! Thanks Kelly so much !
Worked out great for me, Kelly. Making my fifth bracelet right now... they're very popular with the school staff and pupils here. If you're getting lots of views from southern Germany over the past week, that's the kids... Thanks again!
AWESOME! We are doing "Bible Boot Camp" at our Vacation Bible School this summer and I was having such a difficult time finding a "craft" for our pre-teens and Teens to do...until this!!! They are gonna love doing these! Thank you so much for sharing!!!
EXCELLENT teaching method--Very easy to understand and follow the instructions. I can't more highly recommend this video!! I made my first bracelet in Orange to show my solidarity to the war veterans who are suffering and dying from exposure to Agent Orange... Just in time for Veteran's Day, 11/11/2013
Thank you for the great comment Kat, and for honoring our Veterans. My Dad has suffered with Agent Orange for years. Im glad you found this method easy. I have taught knot tying and Survival to everyone from the Military to kids, and have found that if a child finds it easy I will too. Thanks again Kat! Kelly
Thank you so much in showing the video for the paracord bracelet. It was the best I found. You didn't hurry to get it done and you went step by step. I had a very hard time trying to fine a video that I understood. Thanks again . Linnie
I have to say this hobby is very neat! My brother makes these and he has been trying out all the different stitches so I thought I'd check it out. It looked really hard when I watched him do it but watching this video and seeing how easy it actually is, it looks fun once you get the hang of it!
I made mine tonight using this method; my colors were multi color and black; I loved the way it turned out. The color of my buckle is purple; I love to do this in front of the TV set; I had been to a Make and Take event at a craft shop near where I live; got two colors, blue and yellow, and that one turned out well. The para cord does smell a little bit funky when you burn it with a cigarette lighter, but that smell only lasts for a second or two. Second, you have to act fast if you want to melt down the strings and join them to another piece. The pieces you have melted only stay hot for a few minutes or so, and it only smells funky for a second or two. This is a great new hobby for me!
I want to thank you for this video for I have been trying to make these bracelets from the directions in the kit for days failing numerous times until I found your tutorial on how to make it this way. Thank yu thank you first time was a success!
Thank you for this technique. So smart, easy and quick! I like that I don't have to join strands prior for two colors. Easy for final size adjustment if necessary as well. Thanks again!!!
Brother that was easy to follow. Just made a black and yellow one for my 12 year old Sam. Think I'll make a nice long one to attach too my hiking pack. Thanks for sharing.
thanks for the vid... I like the idea of loose ends to start with; an FYI, as you flip the last two ends up to hide them, check for final fit - a great time to snug up or loosen as needed!
thanks so much! i watched the video and decided this was something i could do, and after 15 minutes, i had a great looking bracelet! thanks for the great instruction!
Thank you! My son has been wanting a paracord bracelet but I haven't found one in his size. Now I can make one for him. We are going to pick out colors tomorrow. He will be so excited!
I love to see someone else do this stitch like me :). Also I like your method of doing the stitch over the two bottom strands to secure it. Nice work!!!
Im glad your having fun with it Rob. After 2 bracelets your a professional! The kids at school here like them too. They make great fundraisers! Thank you for telling your students about us. Hope to hear from you again soon!
Your right Diane, it is the same as macrame'. Adding the buckle is the hardest part, but I think I finally solved the issues with that. Lots of trial and error! lol Please do let me know how it goes, and I think maroon and turquoise would look great on you!
G'day mate, loved this video, I"ve only just started using paracord and this is by far the best and most easily understood video, thanks for taking your time for us novices, thanks from Australia.
Okay so I was watching ur video this morning and I was like Awww that looks awesome to make.. I went out and brought what I needed to make my own Paracord Bracelet. I came back home and started your video over so I could do my own.. Wow Can I say You are an Awesome Teacher. I made my very first Paracord Bracelet. Came out kind a big but hey it fits my ankle. Lol.. Thank you so much for sharing this video and taking your time to show everyone how to make their own.. Take Care..
This is the best tutorial to make these bracelets ! Thank you so much for posting this! I keep saying in my head (well, actually out loud!) "back, behind and through, back behind and through....)
Thanks Sean. The general rule is one inch to one foot, meaning that if you want an 8 inch bracelet you will want a minimum of 8 feet of cord. A project Like a "get back whip" for your bike is longer, you said 3 feet. that is like making a bracelet 36 inches long so you will need a minimum of 36 ft. of cord. or 18 ft. of each color if using 2 colors. Most of the bike whips that I have seen have a Monkey Fist or two on the end, you will need to add 6 ft. for each fist you add. Hope this helps!
Oh Yes ! With the extra trailing ends that you tie over in the last 1/4 of the braclet, makes your method the most secure way I've seen of finishing. Other ways I've seen without the redundent over tie, look to be a bit unsecure ! Thanks for the example !
Making these tomorrow for 3 little guys I babysit for, they will give it a try but I will end up making them....great video, you make it look easy. Thanks.
That's great to hear Bricktop! Im glad this video helped. That's the reason I put it up. I had seen a lot of videos out there with complicated ways of attaching the buckles, etc... and I knew I had an easier way, so why not share it. Thanks for the comment my friend, we hope to hear from you again soon. Kelly
i'm addicted to these vids on the bracelets, and i just ordered 2 colours of paracord, 100 feet each and some buckles, so i'll be making my first bracelet soon
It is easy Barbie. Good luck with those boys, and even if you do have to finish them they will be proud of their cool new creation! Good babysitters are hard to find. Good for you doing crafts and being involved!
AWESOME!!! I learned how to do the cobra stitch today which is great and easy after a couple of goes but really wanted to do a bracelet but couldn't figure out how you tie the buckles either end... You did a great job of showing us all... Many thanks and you are now subbed my friend....atb Dixie from the UK
Sure josh. You can actually purchase a kit with all the hardware for a collar. The D ring can be woven into the middle by working it into the side knots. When I have made collars I did it that way. When making the weave measure the distance you need for your center, weave down to that point. Go ahead and start your weave and pull it a little, but don't tighten it all the way and you will see where the D ring will go. Take your weave loose and weave the ring back into it on both sides. Good Luck!
continued... Bring that remaining strand up and across (when doing this you must bring the remaining strand up in front of the first strand that you crossed behind the centers. Do not let the remaining strand sag down and get behind the centers.) When you bring that remaining strand across pull the strand on both sides and you will have your knot on the right side. Continue your weave by starting on the left side and following the same instructions. Good luck Sandy, I hope this helps. Kelly
Either of those would work my friend. I would go with a 15 because I have bigger fingers (easier for me to open) The smaller buckles are great for kids. The ones I use here are 3/8 of an inch. Thank you for commenting my friend, you are the second person from Down Under in the last 2 weeks. That makes me feel awesome. Thanks again. Kelly
I have done the loop. It is fairly easy. Just fold one piece of cord in half (total length can vary) then using that piece as your core, weave around it. Ill try to get a video up soon.
It is a foot of paracord per inch of bracelet. A 6 inch bracelet will need a minimum of 6ft of cord. I always use just a little more. Measure your wrist, if that measurement is 8 inches then you need a little more than 8ft of cord (for a 2 color bracelet that is 4ft 6 inches of cord for each color) Hope this helps!
I babysit for 8 kids....3 brothers....2 sisters....2 sisters from another family and one little girl....Everyone comes on different days or I go to their houses for the day....I have 2 girls of my own, grown with families of their own and I miss having little kids around...all of the mothers know each other so it works out well. I planned my summer and we do all kinds of easy crafts because they are 6 and 7 yr olds so I have to keep it simple....my goal is to get them all crocheting someday
That's great Suzie! You can even put a story to your bracelets. Like using red cord to signify the Blood of Christ, etc... I hope you guys have fun with the bracelets!
Loved the video. I think since I already know how to do this knot from macrame' it should be a breeze. I'll be at the military surplus tomorrow for the supplies! I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks!
Thank you Jazmania, it is comments like yours that make me want to teach others, paracord, survival, etc... Thank you so much for the kind words and I hope to hear from you again very soon. Good luck on those bracelets! Let me know about your next one. Kelly
Just a little tip, i guess more of personal preference, the two tag ends you weaved over the top of don't need to be singed due the amount of weaves over the top. I personally don't care for the melted tips against my wrist. Anyways great video, I am always looking at new techniques and I like how you don't have to melt the ends together on this one. Have a great day.
thanks a lot for this awesome video. ive watched a couple and couldnt follow and got frustrated but yours is simple and my first bracelets a perfect fit :)
Thanks Jr, we appreciate your subscribing to our channel. We hope you like the rest of what we have, and hope you will like our stuff in the future! Thanks again, Kelly
Yes sir. It is an inch to a foot for a standard "cobra braid". In theory a 6in bracelet would need 6ft of cord (3ft of each color) Different people tie different ways. If your bracelet is looser or tighter it can skew that equation. I always start with 10ft total or 5ft of each color so when I go to the store I will buy 5ft of each color I want. This always leaves me with scraps that I use for other projects. Hope that helps!
Hi I don't mind learning a little more about anything you want to teach. This is why I subbed your channel so I can learn about anything that's worth it.. The last few paracords that I made came out just perfect.. Thank you for asking.. Take Care!..
Many times they do come undone Mr Hollick, Ive even seen them on store shelves unraveling because of it. Even if a bracelet is made very strong with that method, it still takes alot longer.
I am glad I could help Trista. These bracelets are a great project, I get all Zen like when I am tying knots and weaving cord, it is my therapy. LOL Thank you so much for commenting. Kelly
Hey PiraChordist! Cool pic, by the way... Im glad this video helped you. I agonized 6 years ago when I started making the bracelets. I finally sat down and figured it out, and until showing some people in class my technique I didnt know it was different than anyone else. Since then Ive seen some methods on the net that were pretty dicy. At any rate, thank you for your comment and stay tuned for more!
And as for my recommendation... I like the half inch black side release buckles. The smaller buckles tendtobe difficult for me to open. I dont like the metal shackles because many are 1000 pound test. If you have a braid of paracord and a shackle like that on your wrist and you get it caught in something its not coming off until your hand does.
I appreciate the great comment my friend. I am glad you and your son got it worked out and got a cool bracelet, and Im pretty sure the Southern accent is what made my wife want to marry me... Thanks again, Kelly
The ones in the video are super cheap from the dollar store, but I have a variety. I use the cheap ones because my expensive Singer brand scissors kept dulling on me. The best pair that I have, and to use for cord are EMT shears for paramedics.
I have used reflective, and it is cool, but Im more low profile and don't like to shine too much. It tends to be more expensive as well, but it is great for scouts, or any child that needs to be more visible (Halloween, etc...)
Very good instruction. Damn and from an Arkansas boy! lol. Outstanding!! I'm from Stuttgart, but live in Texas now for work. I'll subscribe to your channel. Thanks man!!!
You CAN take it apart if you need to use the cord. Thats the beauty of these bracelets. If you need to take it apart just pop the end loose where you burned it and reverse the process. Thanks for your question Madisyn!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! i for the life of me couldnt figure this out than i watched your video and it made more since...it still took a whole lot of time and prayer but i finally got it and i love it!!! If i didnt say it enough thank you! :)
