I just bought the Sony A90J 65 inch. I found Dolby Dark was great fir Rk Discs but awful on streaming platforms use Dolby Vision bright if your TV is not calibrated. If what yiur watching is HDR10 & not a Dolby signal use Custiom or Imax. For sport like Premier League match you want to dedicate a,separate channel to get it bright this looks better for sports. Fade to Black has good settings. You just have to take the time ti try them out but also on different connect 4k discs streaming SDR broadcasts.

i have very important question, recently my new 83 '' A90J was calibrated by isf pro calibrator , rather good known specialist , he done job great but DV settings gets me confused , couse 20p colours set remain all at zero. Rest of mode was done as others. Contact him in this case and he told me that Sony oled's have common in DV/SDR 20p settings and set precise DV 20p, will affect for SDR picture overall . So what is with this according to UK isf calibrators ?

The A80J and maybe the A80K also the motion is terrible so I would recommend setting the motionflow to auto or 1 especially with low bitrate or cable tv channel with 4K and/or 4d HDR you can turn it off. If you don't set it to auto or 1 you will see judders for sure. Sony haven't issue a FW update to fix judders on the tv.

Hi , I just got an A80J 77 inch as most of us in this forums i also would like to see what creators intended. But i also have some adjustments have it in three different presets Custom , Custom For Pro 1 and Custom For Pro 2 I have seen users reporting that if for example we modify Vivid or Standard tothe setting that we use in custom still there is change in how it is displayed . Essentially that means there are set of processing that we anyways cannot change. So we have to start off with the one that is stated as most accurate by sony. My Concern : 1. Is Custom For Pro 1 / 2 as accurate as Custom to begin with? 2. Is Custom For Pro More accurate than Custom or Vice Versa? These concerns are because sony states Custom as “Truly Reproducing the Original” while Custom for Pro it states that it is for Caliberation”. So the next question obviously will be is one of them more accurate than the other? Thanks

@Federico Giuliano what do you think about using warm instead of expert 1, and then adjusting the blue/green?? A lot of people follow that setting recommendation by classy
@matheus5230
@matheus5230 2 года назад
@Federico Giuliano Paying a lot of money for a TV doesn't mean you have to use all its features! Exactly because you spent money on it, you should tune it to what is best, simple as that. Motion Flow is often recommended to being turned off because it can introduce soap opera effect, and it's horrible for that, filmmakers all around the world would ban Motion Flow from TVs if they could. Motion Flow should be used only if at very minimal value like yours, to not significantly disrupt the artistic intent in films and TV series.

I have a Sony 80J OLED 65” for about 8 months. So my advice is for Netflix just let the option based on the streaming setting. For others you can fiddle with either cinema or iMax setting. Keeping the energy setting high can make the panel more brighter. Some say should turn it off so that you can get high peak brightness for the directors intended shot. But it depends, switching to energy saving form makes the panel less brighter and easy for the eyes. The rest of the experience will be based on the speakers you have. For me just a sound bar with Dolby Atmos is fine for good experience.

@@rootcao1360 I just have the “imax enhanced mode” it somewhat keeps the colour in the movies I play from my physical media enhanced. Other than that I don’t fiddle Much with the settings you may choose to try put in low energy mode option to dim the brightness. However take note you might not be watching the movie on how the director intended for the film to be played. Now watching “Prey” on 4K looks good. I close all the light in my room and only turn on the ambient light around the TV for atmosphere it helps to keep the illumination coming from the tv balanced .

For every video type, you suggest leaving every setting at the out-of-the-box level, with a couple of very minor tweaks tossed in but not particularly recommended. Am I missing something?
