Before all these rappers there was an RNB group called "the escorts" they recorded their first album from prison althought it was a totally different situation than just beating and singing, apparently they captured the attention of enough of the COs or whoever runs the prison to allow them to record with an actual band. So its def not new just very uncommon, i guess partially because the ones with the talent only ended up in prison cause they werent focused enough and didnt capitolize on their opportunities which is the same mindset that would allow them to sit in prison and still not care to try and make it musically as theyve already accepted their fate. Only a few dudes really get amped up and feel like theyve been given a second chance, like pac after he survived the first quad studio shooting
@@bxi1547 the studio could be a two way sword, people locked up usually go back. If he spend his energy in the studio it make keep him out or get him in deeper. Hopefully it keeps him out
