I suspect the reason why they're putting coconut in the "low porosity products" and trying to get us to buy into it is because it's a cheap product to use in their manufacturing process...
I think my hair is low porosity but nothing bad happened when I use castor oil or coconut oil. I made the mistake of using Shea butter but on my scalp and I used cold water so it didn't want to leave my roots. Now I use warm water and baking soda as a cleanse then shampoo and the castor oil comes off from my scalp. Castor oil is good for edges and that's where I use it mostly but I used it on my entire head when I was thinking from stress, lack of sleep and using raw carrot oil without a carrier oil. Not all oils are sealants.
I have low porosity hair and I agree with everything you said. My hair hates coconut oil, and heavy butters. My favorite deep conditioner is the TGIN miracle honey mask. I am a new subscriber, thanks for sharing!😊
was almost gonna buy this cuz of these comments but just saw it has silicones which is a big no for me, for the curly way ;; do you know alternatives without silicone?
@@2PMisTimelessI go through this same issue. It’s not a lot of silicone but I feel it ON the hair... if they took it out then it would be my holy grail. Right now, I use the mielle moisture hydrating deep conditioner, there’s no protein or silicone and it’s really effective. Unfortunately, it comes in a smaller container so that’s a bummer.
It's really nice listening to you. It's like my friend is talking to me and yes thank you for the info I have wavy hair low porosity and I have recently found it out. Thanks a lot for sharing this
Wow , I have low posority hair, and was notice, the thinning and breakage, I am glad I found your channel, I had used Olive Oil Moisturizer three years ago, and noticed my hair loves it. I will go back using the moisturizer , '
I used my aunt's Olive Oil Moisturizer a while back, and my hair loved it. I was trying to find the name of it right right now when I saw your comment! My hair soaked it up nicely, and it was soft even when it dried, no crunchiness.
Thank you for this explanation! I only just found out my hair is low porosity and why most Shea Moisture products don’t work for me, but Camille Rose Curl Maker works well for me.
Your hair looks really nice. Omg! I didn't know that Kemi OYL was still around. It's been about 3 decades since I've used it. That was my favorite oil when I was relaxed. Gonna have to purchase some. Thanks for sharing. Peace and Blessings ❤
Thank you so much for this! My texture looks pretty similar to yours but I've been struggling with getting good curl definition, especially at my ends. I have definitely noticed heavy creams just coat my hair and weigh it down, and makes it look stringy almost.
I always use a heating conditioner cap to deep condition, after oiling my scalp, and just for no reason throughout the week. My hair grows quick and healthy.
I tried the tgin DC years ago, didnt work for me, it was like a placebo. I was so disappointed because i spent a lot on their products, but such is the life of us naturals. Trial and error. I will try the shampoos. Appreciate your content, we need more info and products for low porosity. I did find a leave in by shea moisture. Its not bad just a lil oily. Blessings and continued success.
You & your hair are just beautiful 😍😍. The Almond Jai Twisting Butter & Curl Love Moisture Milk from Camille Rose are just gems. They smell amazing, is moisture packed, & absorbs in the hair strands so well. Tfs.
New subbie! Thank you so much for this info I will be buying all the products that you mentioned in this video….I have always had trouble with my low porosity 4C hair……thank you so much……you are a godsend!
Very very informative. With trail and error I learned just about everything you said. I will def try some of the products you suggested. Thanks so much for this. After 10 years of being natural my hair should further along than it is. U made my day. ❤🥰🤗
Thank you for this. I just recently damaged my hair with a color shampoo. I used way too much and now my hair is dry and breaking. I’ve had shedding for a while but no breakage until now. I was just trying to cover the few greys I had and it didn’t even do that 😞 It just left my hair in worse condition. I learned low porosity hair does not like too much products so we have to be careful not to over process our hair. If I can’t restore my hair then I may just have to cut it. I’ll do what I can first and hopefully it turns out okay.
@@SimplyJustCee It’s okay it was a lesson. Now I know not to use too much product in my hair moving forward. I thought it would be okay since it was supposed to be a natural color shampoo but it made little difference. I’ll try a few sessions of deep conditioning but yes it’s okay to start over if I have to. Thank you 🙏🏽💗💕
I can relate to your post except I was using a shampoo to keep my grays gray which in turn dried my hair out so bad. I've had to cut my hair off several times because it keeps growing back brittle. It's so frustrating....
@patricemurray7620 I'm sorry to hear this. Try taking a spirulina supplement. It has worked wonders with strengthening my hair, increasing it's thickness and it reverses grays. amzn.to/3OVzGGK
@@patricemurray7620 Oh no… You would think that by cutting it, it would grow back healthy but it’s still brittle after that smh. That does sound frustrating. I was thinking of cutting my hair if the deep conditioning doesn’t repair it but now I wonder if it will make any difference by cutting it. So are you just going to keep cutting it until it grows back healthier? Have you already tried deep conditioning treatment/ reconstructing hair bond? I wish there was some kind of warning on the label to not use too much or maybe there is. I don’t think I want to use any color moving forward.
My low porosity hair looooooves sulphates. I tried giving them up & I had thee worst crunchy dry hair using sulphate free products 😩😩😩 Clarifying tea tree shampoo is life. I’ve recently learned my hair loves honey too.
I agree with what u said , i have low porosity hair, n my hair hates buttery products , n loves olive oil , it absorbs it easily n like u said it keeps it like u r not going anywhere
Hey sis enjoyed your video. Good info. Stumbled across researching info to help me bring my hair back to life. Subscribed! Good luck with your channel.
This is by far the best informative video on low porosity hair. Besides have a question how many times do we have to use the clarifying shampoo and deep conditioning mask??
I believe I am low porosity my hair STAY FUCKING DRY AND NO MATTER WHAT I DO ITS DRY and FRIZZY i feel like relaxing it honestly ill try these but if no luck relaxer it is 😂
It can be challenging to moisturize low porosity, but adding low heat (just a minute or two) helps when trying to get moisture to penetrate the hair shaft. Don't give up just yet. ❤️
Fr, it's so hard to get my parents to buy hair products I want, they just say "you already have hair products", so it's really hard for me to take care of my hair
Hi there, at the moment, The Doux Mousse Def Texture Foam and the Ouidad Heat and Humidity Stronger Hold Gel has been my winning wash n' go combo lately for my low porosity hair.
Thankyou do much for replying so quickly, I have one more question which I should have included sorry, Do you think eco styler , wetline extreme,?or kinky curly custard are good choices for w low porosity wash and go’s . I’ve tried the doux but it makes my scalp itch. Thanks again
I would say the Wetline Extreme would be your best bet because it has glycerin and aloe vera as ingredients. Kinky Curly Custard would be the second choice, and since the eco style gel has wheat protein in it, I'd stay away from that one.
I have to spray my hair one or two times over about an hour just so my hair can actually get wet within the course of a 15 minute shower lol. I was bald for about 7 years and recently started growing out my, hair again. I had so many problems with product build-up last time I grew out my hair because I was using high-porosity products (which it seems like most products are for high-porosity 😮💨). This time around, I'm using Allafia black soap for shampoo, Pierre's Apothecary conditioner, NOU's low-porosity leave-in, and tiny bit of Renpure conditioner (or any conditioner tbh) bc the NOU leave-in needs just a little bit of help to hold moisture throughout the day. I co-wash every time I shower, and I shampoo every 3-4 days. The Pierre's apothecary conditioner is sooooo good, it really moisturizes and washes put like 95% clean. It's not a shampoo, but it rinses out great because it has only a few, light ingredients in it.
Im so confused because when i did the hair in water test my hair floated but my hair takes a really short time to dry like 10-20 mins but when i add too much product it just sits on top?
I agree with everything that you're saying,EXCEPT Coconut oil. For some reason my hair seems to love it..I did order some great new products I'm going to fast from coconut oil and see what happens..My scalp likes castor,my hair doesnt get greasy, but HONEY iz the shizz!
My hair takes forever to get wet but drys SUPER fast is that still low porosity? Also products do take awhile to absorb but after it does my hair is back to being bone dry, and that’s within a day or so.
This could still be low porosity hair, but perform the "hair strand test" to better determine your hair porosity. You can find videos here on RU-vid that show how to do the strand test. Thanks for watching!
oh ok. tried that. But I think I have made a discovery. I think I can use it with leave in conditioner mixed. However using aloe vera with water spray and then leave in after not good. @@zolekamazibuko8764
What if you're not really low porosity but actually some where in the middle? Would the products you mentioned still be beneficial since they do in fact contain healthy ingredients?
If you feel your hair is in the middle, then that would be medium/normal porosity. This would mean that your hair can take in moisture fairly easily and hold it for a longer time. If that's the case, you'd want to stay away from products that are heavy and be sure not to use a lot of products that have protein in them (normal porosity hair already has the right level of protein), or you will easily get protein-overload. You mentioned in another comment that you were trying to bring your hair back to life. Check the labels on the current products you are using because you may be in protein-overloaded, which produces dull, dry, frizzy, hard, and limp hair. The products I mentioned in this video should work well with your hair 🙂.
I have type 2 hair and it may be on the lower end of porosity. Becuse it takes a long time to blow dry. However it takes color ok and I know that coloring your hair can effecty hair porosity. So I am wondering if these products will improve my hair health as I have always has a hard time finding things that help my waves and not build up on them. I know that when your hair grow at the root its already low. If anybody has any idea on stylers or other products feel free to let me know. FYI when I blow dry its always frizzy and when I put a flat iron to it. It never gets complely straight. 😊
Hi there, yes, I recommend you own both a clarifying and moisturizing shampoo. She should clarify your hair when you notice a lot of product build-up on your hair or scalp; use a moisturizing shampoo after and a good conditioner.
Curious. I recently figured out about hair porosity and i also have straight, thin, fine hair and my hair just feels dry on day 2 after just getting new shampoo and conditioner from Carol's Daughter. Possibly feels dry cz i didnt do clarifying shampoo first or deep conditioner but any tips on getting that moisture in on day 2 hair?
I’m confused on something, for the conditioners, like TGIN and Camille Rose, do I wash those products out or leave them in? Also, do I use these products all at the same time when I shower, or pick and choose?
Clarifying shampoos should be used when you feel you have quite a lot of build up or Haven't washed your hair in awhile, otherwise just use your moisturizing shampoo, then go in with you regular rinse out conditioner to help you detangle your hair, next should be your deep conditioner which you can apply heat to like she said for it to really work, you wash everything out up till the point of a LEAVE-IN conditioner and the a styling cream and oil ❤ Hope this helps?
How do you apply the butter without it flaking or weighing it down? Im considering just stopping at leave in. Also do you use heat after to 'set' your hair? I find my hair takes forever to dry otherwise and the moisture doesnt go in. More than products, i think i need to learn the right technique for my hair
It seals your hair so if you put coconut oil on your hair it can trap like the dryness in a way. My hair doesn’t like coconut oil but my scalp does? It’s weird
Oh no! Camille Rose Sweet Ginger Cleansing Rinse is another clarifying shampoo you can use. I like the Eden one better, but I have used this, and it gets the job done, too. Hopefully, Amazon delivers this to your country. amzn.to/3ubyxTO
Hey there! I don't recommend using a moisturizer daily. Low porosity hair holds on to product and gets weighted down easily. Take a look at your wash day routine because that's where the initial hydration and moisture will come from. If moisture in locked in properly, low porosity is able to retain moisture anywhere between 3-5 days (depending on the style it's in). I use Camille Rose's Curl Love Moisture Milk as my moisturizer every 4 days with a little water or The Doux Mousse Def Texture Foam if my hair is in its curly state. Check out my Wash Day Routine for some tips on how to lock in moisture on low porosity hair. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Sd0p7nJHLSo.html :)
Hello, Can you recommend a curl refresher that is good for low porosity hair? I noticed that you said glycerin was good but I did read that you should not use glycerin if you have low porosity hair or at least not a lot of it so I am staying away from products that have glycerin in them.
@@SaharaSaharaSahara All of the curl refreshers have glycerin in them. Can you recommend a curl refresher that does not have glycerin in it and is good for low porosity hair?
Hey there! I apologize for just now replying to this comment; it got buried in the sea of comments I receive on a daily basis. I did a quick search, and I couldn't find a curl refresher that did not have glycerin in it that would work well with low porosity hair. If I come across something, I'll update this comment. :)
Hi there, both argan oil and murmuru butter work well for low porosity hair. In my opinion, since murmuru butter is an emollient, it's going to penetrate the hair better, allowing for moisture to enter.
Hi there, the SheaMoisture Manuka Honey Yogurt Hydrate Repair Whipped Curl Cream works well with low porosity hair as well as Camille Rose Almond Jai Twisting Butter.

Hi there! Not necessarily, however, low porosity hair is prone to protein sensitivity; this is why a clarifying shampoo is crucial for those with low porosity hair.
What happens to my hair if i use products that is not low porosity ? I have low porosity hair And what about shea moisture papaya neroli shampoo does it work for my hair ? And papaya and neroli with elderflower milk gel does it work for my hair ??
Hi there. For your first question: if you use products that aren't low porosity hair friendly, they can sit on the hair and weigh it down. This can lead to dry, rough, or brittle hair because the hair isn't receiving moisture. Also, low porosity hair is prone to protein overload. So, if you use products with a lot of protein in it, it can lead to dry, hard, and damaged hair. I took a look at the ingredients on the Shea Moisture Papaya line that you asked about. It contains shea butter, coconut oil, castor oil, and mango butter. These ingredients typically don't work well on low porosity hair; I wouldn't recommend it. Thanks for watching!
@SimplyJustCee Thank you for replying and explaining what moisture cream after shampoo can I use ? Shea moisture brand? What can I replace with shea moisture papaya milk gel ? Shea moisture brand please I have a question please I'm sorry I'm new in hair products What is shea moisture grapeseed and tea tree oil low porosity weightless leave-in detangler ? What does it do to the hair? And do you recommend Edit : I used low porosity shampoo and my hair is curly but too frizzy why is that?
