Raum is the most underrated reverb plugin of all time. I use it on everything and it always sounds good. I also use Valhalla. Black hole for effects. Also don’t write off DVerb in pro tools. I use it a lot even on the lead vocal as my short reverb.

UAD reverb plugins are also special. Lexicon 224, pure plate, capitol chambers etc.

No Exoverb by dear reality, huh? That has replaced any sample or ir or convolution reverbs I might use, it’s is the most realistic and natural reverb with the most control I’ve ever used. It’s not replacing my synthetic reverbs, that’s a special job for a special tool, but Exoverb is my go to for rooms, hallways, and even plates now. Very impressive depth across all their reverb types, and very usable and intuitive controls for post eq, width, etc. very transparent, very natural feeling, and tweakable. It’s probably my 2023 winner. I’ve also been pretty impressed with what Universal Audio’s “sound city studios” can do, I know you did a video on that one, very deep plugin, but not right for many things, and not at all plug and play if the very specific sound of the presets and defaults doesn’t happen to be right for your mix. These days, I’ll start by throwing sound studios on my drums, and if it doesn’t immediately sound closer to ideal, I don’t over think it, I just switch to Exoverb and add some room. Looking for a quality synthetic reverb tho, something for those 80s new wave, and shoegaze tracks that adds all this tastefully unnatural midrange character without muddying up the mix, some good ideas in this video for sure. I know Pro- R2 is a popular choice for many right now too. Open to other peoples thoughts on plugs I should try for that in particular, feel free to reply with ideas, world!

I agree with you that Raum is very underrated. A gem, actually. I like my VSS3 by tc electronics. I wonder how it compares to the VSS4? Blackhole is another gem. I tried to like waves ir1 but didn't really get much success with. Maybe time to try it again. Not in this list but I do like is Stratus. Def one of my favorites

I like Inspirata Pro, by Inspired Acoustics...it has 50 spaces...several of the best European concert halls, theatres, and cathedrals...it is large though...a little over 500,000 IRs, spread out over a 194GB download ;) best with a dedicated machine...

I love Blackhole because the instrument kind of stays up front even if the reverb is big and long, the instrument still sounds clear and not super far away diluted in a mess like some other reverb, if you know what I mean. Shimmer is unique and amazing indeed, very musical. I love Raum which I got for free from Native Instruments a couple years ago so I thought it would be some ordinary reverb but when I tried it for real, comparing it with others, it was very very good sounding. Another one I like for synths is Baby Audio's SpacedOut. Finally, for all things cinematic I use Seventh Heaven from Liquid Sonics as it sound the most realistic of all the ones I have, mainly for orchestral instruments. I just got Tai Chit Lite from the same company but still need to experiemnt with it.

It's definitely one of the best for reverb tails, truly shines on Synth, Keys and guitar. Although, mostly everything reacts to it in a way that makes it used on every project as it's a great sound design tool also. I quite like Valhalla shimmer as well. So many good reverb out there, I struggle to find ones that sound perfect and don't take up any more than 2-4 % CPU which with these 2, are no issue.

I feel like this is an unpopular opinion but I never liked Valhalla reverbs, except for Valhalla vintage, it's pretty good but I find myself almost never using it, and also I can't say I have a favorite, I do think Pro-R is really nice for certain things, especially short reverbs and for long atmosphere pad, fruity convolver

* Have you tried Liquid Sonics Reverberate 3 as an IR loader....I prefer some of the Bricasti M7 IRs in that compared to 7th heaven sometimes. Also Tai chi is amazing.

Reverberate 3 is an amazing IR loader, but I still use waves IR just for cpu efficiency as I mix Atmos and need so many instances that my computer would melt if I used that many. But if I had a maxed out Mac Pro I would definitely use Reverberate 3.

I have 3 of the greatest reverbs: Seventh Heaven, Valhalla Vintage Verb, Fabfilter Pro-R. I'm very content! 😎 If I had discovered Seventh Heaven back in 2020, I never would've bought the Valhalla Vintage Verb. I don't know if Seventh Heaven was out back then. That's my favorite!!!

I love natural sounding reverbs. The 3 I can’t recommend enough is, Plate 140 by Arturia, Cinematic Rooms by Liquidsonics and LX-24 by Arturia.

My most used reverbs are: Acon Digital Immersive Reverb 2(Super Great Fantasy Halls & Synth Lush Reverb, Tunnels too), RAUM strangely it's super good, Halls Of Fame Best Service from time to time, CLA Epic when i need quick whole package reverb sound, Muramassa Reverb for guitars it's good too. Some reverb sounds from UJAM finishers to add some vibes they good too.

Relab 480 is where is at if you want the 480 sound. That plugins is absolutely insane, I got it not long ago this is why I didn't put it here. I didn't try the UAD RMX but for that sound I like the Glow. The 8210 is amazing but it has nothing to do with either or them

I love the Arturia (for fx's and sound design) and the Fog Convolver from Audiothing. I also quite like Convology XT but my default ones that live on my Return channels all the time are the Valhalla ones

one is missing here somehow. strymon bigsky plugin - a 100% killer one. 12 algorythms, unbelievable sound and a clear interface (as opposed to the pedal version). cannot recommend more, the price is discouraging but try the demo and hear.

Recently Liquidsonics Cinematic Rooms made my jaw drop (this is the first time I am in awe of a reverb), Slate Verbsuite Classics I use quite often and I use Blackhole a lot too. Sometimes I use the old-ass Waves R-Reverb or True Verb but only the early reflections, not the tail.

Valhalla Room , Stratus and Acon Digital Immersive 2 are my most used. Just got Fabfilters v2 reverb because of its incredible setup speed, and will be putting it through its paces this month.

I would be interested as to the other eventide verbs you use. I think blackhole is great, but I have ultraverb and hate it.. Very tinny. Tverb is decent though, in it's own unique way

Altiverb can do anything and everything. Amazing for real acoustic instruments and when you have to create artifical spaces! Valhalla Vintage, Plate, and Room, TC V3 fire creating spaces, she Waves IR for recording my own IRs and using any custom IRs. For Bricasti style verbs I use Altiverbs version.
