I luv RAUM. Been using it for years 🔥 My favorite verb plugin is the brand new LuxeVERB. It's exclusive to FL STUDIO 21 only. Absolutely insane with sidechain ability and advanced envelope modulation mechanics. Extremely smart, very modern. Happy holidays David 🤘❄️
I have the Blackhole reverb, and it got the right name. At the moment you put it on any track it skyrocket it into space. Not to use on any instrument or any context but really cool reverb
Blackhole is awesome. I find myself using SPACE STATION UM-282 quite a bit. I also bought a reverb recently but I forgot what it is called, so it is lost to time, it seems. I think it was purple and was supposed to sound very eighties.
this year i have watched a lot of music tuition videos , but the only channel i am still watching regularly is your one .... somehow its easy too watch
PLEAAAASE yes , I'd really like a dedicated video about the TC VSS4 HD! I have it but I'm sure I overlooked some great features that you could explain in details ! ^^
You owe it to yourself to check out the Exponential Audio verbs! I have both of them and they’re absolutely outstanding. Stratus is their realistic verb algorithm which I’ve used mostly when mixing classical music and combining artificial verb having to blend the two to sound realistic and i haven’t had anyone manage to identify there was artificial reverb on those. Symphony is their more lexicon style digital verb and i don’t have any good adjectives to adequately describe how incredible it sounds, not to mention both verbs have built in ducking if you want to just have the tail bloom out after the source. They’re both on same right now too so they’re absolutely worth checking out
I really love the Pure Plate by Universal Audio which is the only one they have available natively. It's really simple so the use is limited but for whatever reason it sounds so good.
I only have seven from that list. I am a failure ... For Shimmer I went with Tritik Irid, then later BLEASS Shimmer, Crystalline, and Tails OK, I'll admit it. I'm Koz and I'm a pluginaholic ... 🙄 Thanks to you David I finally figured out which M7 IRs go into which plugins ... Duh !! My mind must have been elsewhere before 🤪
Awesome video, as usual. Of course, this could very easily be an annual video, something we can look forward to. For example, SpacedOut is new this year; what will come next year? Also, I bought the whole TC Electronic bundle on sale (once a year event, I think, whole shebang for like $695) and got all their reverbs. They're very nice as you point out.
There are so many, a video of your process about how you go about choosing which reverb for which project, and when you choose them for generally being a bus reverb that everything can be sent too or when you use them for individual tracks, also your views on layering reverbs and how you choose the mixture, and of course the pitfalls of having too many different sounding reverbs on one project, it’s a massive subject really…..
I have many videos on verbs, many more in the mixing courses for members only but you can start here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DPx8ONWZQqY.html
I have used only raum from all these and I own also several others free and paid... though I wouldn't change wave arts masterverb for any reason... It's my number one to go :) it's just my taste...
hi @mixbustv ! I have just discovered that you can only use the Bricasti M7 IR in commercial productions if you have the hardware. This is stated on their official website.
A video of the VSS4 HD would be very interesting, I tried it a long time ago and I loved its sound, but I found it difficult to understand in 14 days and very expensive. I like the Eventide ultrareverb a lot, but I rarely see it in reviews, do you have any opinion please. Thanks and happy holidays
A lot of cool things on this list! Many reverb plugins are pricey though. Looking at Audiority I'm wondering if the Xenoverb could be a good pick, as an inexpensive upgrade from mostly free and stock PT reverb plugins. Ever tried it? The price is similar to Valhalla plugins, but this seems more versatile. I like that it has both the classic reverbs, and things like shimmer, filtered reverb and pitch shift.
Great video David, thank you! SP2016 is one of my favorite reverb purchases over the last few years. Are you using the Samplicity Bricasti Impulse responses for IR1? Thanks!
Try the Tegeler Reumzeit Machine Tube Reverb if you can. It is amazing. I was using software before but since that unit I feel the plugins are so bad in comparison. Nothing against software though
The VSS4 really blew my mind. Raum and Spaced Out surprised me a lot. Btw.. Have you used RESO? A dynamic resonance suppressor from MasteringTheMix? Your impressions on it, and maybe even a review would be spectacular, I'm certain I will be picking it up very soon... and one or two of these amazing reverb plugins here as well, so good. Thanks David =)
Reverb plugins are always a treat to look through. I also want to add that TC's NONLIN2 is also epic if you want a good gated reverb. :D I'd love to see a video on the VSS4!
1:21 Raum rhymes with "noun". Well, it's the same vowel as in "now'. In other Germanic and Latin languages it's normal to spelll that vowel with 'au'. You may know that audio in Latin for example, the origin language is pronounce with the first vowel as the one in 'now' or 'noun'. And I care about that, since I ♥Raum. Anyhow, Raum is German for roomliterally, but also 'space'. But you do that in English as well: 'room to grow'. Also, it's Native *_Instruments_*.
A few minutes into the video you should have a like-animation, like a mouse clicking on a thumbs up icon in the corner or something, because I honestly forget to hit like and I don't always stick around for the whole outro when you ask ppl to like.
Warning: TC Native bundle is possibly abandonware. They don't have M1 native compatibility and may never so I recommend steering clear until they get that updated. Same for Kush audio and Relab (all great plugs though, but not well enough supported to be ported after 2+ years is a bad sign).
@@mixbustv I'm chill, just haven't been able to find any info on that so wanted people to know they aren't currently ported. I own the bundle and am waiting to use them again. Very few companies haven't yet at least disclosed whether or not they will be porting.
David do software reverbs lack from hardware the same way that software equalizers compressors may lack from hardware ones? I remember you once said (not in exact words) something like that plugins nowadays are great and you can do great job with them but you simply can't have in some cases the same results you can have with a hardware unit. I was wondering if it goes the same with reverbs or delays since the hardware units as well are basically digital.
No it's not the same, as you guessed, most reverb units are actually digital. That's not to say the "box" doesn't affect the signal, in fact it does. On board converters of digital reverbs are part of the sound of those reverbs, but the algorhythms are actualy what's more important and besides a few, still very hard to emulate units, we do have great reverbs itb which couldn't be tell apart from their hardware counterparts in a mix.
Hi mate. I actually overlooked something in my masters. When I compare it to the best of the bests in Hop-Hop (Dr.Dre etc.) I see that my dynamic range is lesser, but their masters are actually louder. I know from your channel that saturation is the key. I use blackbox, sometimes softube tape for this purpose. But they have more subbas, with clearer sound and suprisingly more loudness and dynamic range. Can it be problem in the mix on mastering chain? I thought that maybe limiter and after multiband expander would be answer? Greetings from Poland!
The problem is the mix and the mastering and the plugins vs hardware and the room you're mixing and the monitors and the skills. You're looking for ONE reason or ONE missing piece, it's not, it's not one it's everything.
@@mixbustv Thanks a lot! I'm working on Kali Audio In-8 V2. Good monitors, but probably not even close to these far-field. Room is adapted, not perfectly, but with sonarworks it's acceptable. I'm mixing music straight for over year on daily basis, and 4 years with no professional mindset. Can it be using of low quality samples or synths too?
Great video, I am a bit suprised that there is nothing from Liquid Sonics, like 7th Heaven or Cinematic Rooms. For realistic reverb, they are great. Got Raum for free from NI a couple years ago and I made the mistake to think since it was free, it was not a great reverb. I ignored it for a while, then I tested many different ones for strings and it was one of my top choices. Eventide Black Hole is also great in a similar way to Valhallah Shimmer, which I also love. Spaced Out is one of my go to also. Great one for the same reason as those 2 mentionned above.
Raum was great but now it has ceased working in Reaper since the latest update. Totally infuriating as I've had to replace every instance with Supermassive. Do us all a favour and sort it NI.
@@mixbustv thanks for bringing Audiority's Ursa Majora back to fruition. When I return back home, I will try that plugin with the Arturia TridA Tube Mic PreAmp plugin on vocals.
Happy new year David ! 😃 I have a few questions . CLA made 4 chapters about delays and reverbs really interesting , I want to know if you can show us how to make it work with other plugins with the sends and returns workflow ( because with the EPIC plugin is very different ) and the other question is ... 😅 What happenned to the Arcade contest ? Thanks again for your time and videos David ! 🤟😃🔥
I guess the lexicon pcm is out of vogue... every other shoot out it wins hands down wtf...I haven't heard one sound other then shimmer that it can't do ... nobhard feelings
@@murraywebster1228 fascinating. I am 100% Dutch btw. I have looked for the phonetics: Raum /ræu̯m/, [ʀæˑʊ̯m]. Row /rəʊ/ (UK), /roʊ/ (US). Loud l /laʊd/. - I think there's little difference. But these phonetics guys have to do something, I suppose ;)
