My favorite daily trainer is Hoka Arahi 6 from 2022. Lightweight and stable. Perfect for recovery, daily, and long run. Tried other 2023 daily shoes, none as fun as Arahi 6. As for speed workouts and race day, I love Asics Magic Speed 3. Now I have Kayano 30, the stability version of Nimbus 25, but it’s so heavy and although people say Nimbus 25 is too soft, Kayano 30 is not soft enough for a sole this thick. The other shoes I have is Hoka Rincon 6. Very lightweight, and for me, they are softer than my Kayano 30. But they are not stable enough for my moderately overpronated feet.
Gel Nimbus 25, lots of love for this shoe - ran my first marathon in them. Wasn’t scorching fast time but I did it (A. goal achieved) and my feet weren’t destroyed. So comfortable and still my go to choice for easy / long runs. 600k in and they feel like there’s lots of life left in them.
I wanted to to love the SC V2 so much when I tried to work it into my marathon training block but they felt clunky and unresponsive compared to the Superblast so I let them sit on the shelf for months..UNTIL today upon seeing your video. I wore them on my run today and while they still dont check all the boxes for me they felt pretty good and I hope I can find a spot in my rotation for them
Happy New Year Emily! I’m with you on the NB Sc T2. They’re just awesome! Race day is still the endorphin Pro 3. Although I do love the NB Sc elite. Great list!
I love the ON Cloud Eclipse, and I will be running a lot with my pair in early 2024 ! Can't wait to get my next shoes from ON. The Gel-Nimbus 25 is indeed the overall most comfortable shoes of 2023 ,but it was lacking versatility, and I could only use it for very slow runs. Anything faster could get me very tired. It was the slowest shoes I have ever run ... and I had shoes almost double the weight ... About the NB 1080 v 13, I did not like it. It was supposed to be much more stable them a Nimbus, Invincible 3 or an Infinity Run 4 and faster. But this 1080 is a lighter weight cushioning shoes for slow motion run for me. Way too unstable and tiredsome because of the huge difference in the middlesole density in the heel and forefoot areas. I'm in summer here and the heat is breaking the middlesole ( seems to be "melting" the resilience of the foam), and the outsole in the heel is almost gone with 100km ( 70miles ?)of running. The 1080 v13 joined the Adidas Adizero SL last year as my worst shoes of 2023.
I’ve run in the Saucony Endorphin shift I have had 10 pairs but they aren’t making it anymore, so I’m using the Adidas Boston 12. I’m looking for something like the Endorphin Shift. Tried the Gel Nimbus but it’s too soft.
Would luv some feedback on the lockdown and (non)heel slippage...some of us have really skinny heels and PF is a thing. Also wonder if you have run in any stability shoes...I'm outgrowing mine but still wear part-time. Appreciated your content! :) Megan
The Hoka Mach X is my every day shoe. I had the Mach 5s and loved them but they weren’t as durable as I hoped they’d be. How did you find the fit of the Super Comp Trainer V2 width wise? It might be my choice of new daily trainer when it comes time to replace the Mach Xs.
I have the super comp( looove the shoe). I was about to buy the Adidas supernova. But then I remembered how much you love the NB v13. bought it( same color) I love it too!. I can't wait for 2024 review shoes. Thanks! you need as well to make a video about your race next year. I booked for Berlin. Hopefully i can do a shake out run with Kofuzi. Who knows if you sign up for New York? again, then definitely I will do a shake out run with you!!
I love the Novablast 3 so I bought the 4’s. Unfortunately I had to return them because they rubbed blisters on my fourth toes. Which is weird because I have never gotten blisters from running.
Happy New Year! I have the Rocket x 2, Vaporfly 3 and sc trainer 2 (these are my favorite long run shoe) but my Shoe of the year is still the Endorphon pro 3 even if this is not from 2023
I am excited for the SC Trainer v3 coming later this year. I had the v1 and really wanted to like it, but the upper just didn't work for me. After logging a little over 100 miles in it, with the last run being cut short at 3 miles because my ankle got skinned (and I was wearing crew socks), I knew it was time to let go. I didn't try the v2, but I hope v3 will be the charm.
Thanks for your review👍🏼 I have a clifton 9 and enjoy then a lot. The Bondi, the more v4 also. My nb 1080s v12 where a favorite. Need a new pair, and due to your review I’ll get a new one.
I have Puma DN2 as my super trainer. I’d say they are perfect. However it’s nice to have another pair of super trainer maybe one with more stack height. I can’t decide between your top 2 super trainers to get this year. Hopefully on sale. Maybe flip a coin.
Been curious about the DN2 as well, I opted for the endorphin speed 3 for my current daily trainer since it was heavily discounted during holidays but I think the DN2 r usually cheaper in comparison
@@jicalzad I’d say they are equally good. For slower pace and recovery runs maybe speed 3 for durability and long runs DN2. You can’t go wrong with most super trainers. They are jack of all trades one shoe rotation besides your race shoes.
Subscribed because of this video! The reviews do not feel like you’re trying to tip toe around what you say- the honesty is a winner for me! Great job!
I have the 1080v13 but I haven't run in them yet. I'm still on the 1080v12 which I love but I have put them on and walked around the basement and they are the softest shoe I've ever worn. So I'm expecting it to be great. I'm tempted on the SC Trainer v2 but I'm a very casual runner and they might not benefit me at all.
Recently subscribed and now going through and watching your videos. This was a great shoe recap! I have about 300 miles in my Gel Nimbus 25s. Time to upgrade!!
YES YES YES!! I bought the SC V2 on your recommendation and I love them. My race day shoe is still the Saucony Endorphin Pro 3 but the SC V2 does it everything else. My problem is that I’m neglecting all the other shoes in my rotation 😅 I’m gonna have even bigger problems, when I have to choose between the SC V3 and the Saucony Endorphin Speed 4 this year 😂 (please do a side by side video on this….pretty please?!! Surprised that the Saucony Triumph didn’t get a mention in your line up…? Was thinking of getting a pair as an easy day shoe to replace my Brooks Glycerin 21. Keep up the great work Emily - this video was worth the wait!!!
Saucony triumph was a great shoe! Probably would have been in my list but the Cloudeclipse kinda knocked it out for me. And I will try to do a comparison of the two shoes!
Happy New Year to you! I’m going back & forth between the 1080 v13 & sc trainer v2. Looking for a longer tempo shoe & the weight of the 1080s vs the sc trainer is appealing. Any thoughts on the versatility of the 1080s?
what would you recommend for someone prone to inversion ankle sprains who is a casual walker/runner? I'm kinda afraid of the cushiony shoes because they're so elevated. but i also have bad knees (need a low heel drop) and heel pain (lipoma on bottom of heel). phew, any recs?
Honestly because of the ankle sprains I don’t want to steer you in the wrong direction. My guess would be that you’d need something firmer with more stability but I think it might be worth going to a local running store if possible and seeing what they think!
Happy New Year Emily 🎉 🎊. Great review although I do not have any of the shoes. I stocked up on NB SC V1 and told myself no to V2 until I need them 😊. My other favorite shoes for 2023 are Puma Deviate Nitro 2 along with the Elite line. Seems Hoka really impressed you this year. Might have to reconsider Hoka in the future. Thanks!
Emily, thank you for all your awesome content that you provide the running community. I have all of these shoes (except the On Eclipse) and agree 100% with your picks. I ran the Chicago Marathon in the NB SuperComp V2 (my shoe of the year) and agree it was the perfect shoe for the race and all of the training leading up to it. Can't wait to see what you have in store for '24! Happy New Year!
Happy new year emily loved following along on youtube in the past year! My fave daily trainer in 2023 was kayano 29 lol boring but cant wait to get the 30 atp. Looking forward to keeping up w you in 2024!
hi there - I've been all over the internet trying to get some specific info and landed on your videos. I want to try the super shoes for the first time at my next marathon. What are your thoughts on asics metaspeed sky+ vs hoka rocket x2? I see you chose the rocket X2 for your 2023 pick, but wondering what was the decision maker. Also, do carbon plates feel stiff? I'd really appreciate your thoughts! thanks in advance! - also subscribed :)
Hi there! Thanks so much for subscribing! The MetaSpeed Sky + is a great shoe, but I think it’s a little firmer than the Rocket x2 and I prefer a softer feel underfoot. I feel like the Rocket x2 is a great shoe for someone looking to wear a carbon plate for the first time. Yes, carbon plates are pretty stiff. They use that as a tool to propel you forward as you’re running. It’s not a shoe to wear everyday but it’s great to mix into your rotation for races or workouts. Hope this helps!
