Long before this place was a RV campground and recreation area, way back in the early 70's we used to camp here with the Boy Scouts. It was nothing but woods with a small dirt road leading down to the ICW. Great memories...

So glad to see this campground has been restored to such a beautiful condition. A couple years ago it was full of trash, lots of debris and appliances around the RVs indicating the host was allowing people to stay for months at a time, grass up to your knees. It was shameful.

That alligator wasn't interested in you Lou, He was waiting on you to pull a fish in so he can steal it. They do it all the time when I am fishing off of piers here in Florida. Opportune hunters will steal an easy fish. I am heading up that way in my Van to Virginia for a Skoolie Swarm event in October. I was looking for a place I can shower up and chill for a couple days around Charleston. This is even better and I can wing this price. Thanks a bunch! I will be thanking you and melody when I am in that hot shower after a few stinky days on the road. lol

Just made reservations for mom now. Thanks again, Lou & Melody (&milo, of course). Sites are booked out far into the future. So our plan is to travel counterclockwise from Ohio.. West towards Nashville (alright, I know that is not far west), Natchez Trace, south to New Orleans, through the panhandle Pensacola/and your best kept secret just east of there, lol. Down to Ocala, and back north eastern seaboard. This is perfect as we also sail and have travelled the ICW a few times. Love that this campground is small & my mom(85) could watch cruisers as they pass. Well done, as always.

Palmetto Trail bisects South Carolina. Starts in the mountains in upstate and ends in Francis Marion NF. Very diverse trail! We did sections of it when I was a Scoutmaster years ago. Did you see any kayakers while you were there?

RV sites may be booked for van or tent camping. There were both vans and truck campers setup in the RV sites during our stay, some using tents as well. Lou
