Watch it. Critics don’t like it probably because it is not a superficial movie that focuses on kids complaining about not getting what they wanted for Christmas. It is a very touching movie with a truly beautiful message to the world. Ps: I’m not British
Proud Santa Claus the Movie loving Brit here!! 🥰🎄❤️ I’ve watched it with my family on every single Christmas Eve since I was a kid and now I’m 41!! And watch it with my own family. It’s absolutely magical 🥹 Don’t knock it til you’ve tried it!! 🎄❤️
Absolutely. I’m from Venezuela, and this movie is quite famous there, a classic! My sister and I used to sing the music in 4:57 while cleaning our room.
When I close my eyes and picture Santa’s workshop, the sleigh, and the elves - I see this. To all involved, thank you, the cinematography and score have forever shaped my festive spirit! Merry Christmas to you all!
That beautiful music and seeing all those toys at 2:48 gives me goosebumps and I get a little teary eyed. It reminds me of being a child in the 80's. Such happy memories 🙂
Parts that make me cry tears of joy and give me goosebumps: 1) the part where they are shown the toys for the first time and that music is playing in the background 2) Dudley Moore marching with the reindeer behind him ready to go 3) the head elf talking to Santa Claus 4) the whole part where Santa takes off and it takes you through the centuries ( especially when it plays God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen and it shows the letters falling down the chimney) 5) when Santa says he is checking it twice and then Thank you Santa starts playing with the kids singing 6) when he is flying over NYC for the first time 7) when he says that Christmas isn’t the same anymore and people are so selfish now 8) the ending where It’s Christmas all over the world plays
And what’s funny is Burgess Meredith played Mick in the first three Rocky movies. Boy did he look different in this. Course that’s just a costume but still😁😁😁
I don't think the Super Duper Looper would've been necessary when all Joe and Patch had to do was jump out of the car and into the sleigh the minute Santa flew underneath them, but at least Donner overcame his fear, especially in the event of an emergency. Way to go, Donner!
@@waynemacfarland1546 haha thanks lol. It bothered me, I was waiting for Rudolph’s arrival throughout the whole film. I was born in the 60’s and sang Rudolph the red nosed reindeer even back then, I’m sure.
i was 10 yrs old when this movie came out and one of my favorite movies , The 80s and 90s were the best and all I can tell anyone that wasn't there , unless you were there man u just wont get it
I so happy that people are still remembering and appreciating this treasure as I am still!!! It does something very special for me every time I see it.🥰
I remember when this came out in the eighties. Videos were just coming on the scene and my dad rented it from a video rental place. I think he watched I’d say15 times that weekend and that’s not exaggeration. He loved it!!! October 8 will be ten years since he passed. But this movie is a family favorite and every year we dig it out and watch it a few times. I think David Huddleston had a blast doing this movie. It’s funny he makes so much noise whooping and yelling but Santa sneaks in while you’re sleeping. Nobody heard him and he’s making all that noise😃😃😃. But anyway if you haven’t watched it and can get over yourself enough to just enjoy it for what it is instead of having an attack over the fact that everyone knows is a myth you’ll like it. If you are somebody that wants to criticize everything you won’t like it. I love it!!!!!!
This is the only Christmas film I truly love. The best Santa (RIP David) the best toys (wood crafted toys are just amazing), the stage-set and story is one I will always hold close to my heart. Pure 80s fantasy, full of colour, costumes and personality. It’ll be forever my number one till my grave, and has been for 30+ years.
Always watched this movie with my parents every single year at Christmas before I moved away 7 years ago. And without fail we continue to watch this every Christmas. It’s a masterpiece ♥️🎄🎅🏻
This movie brings back so many wonderful memories of my childhood. I watch it every year over the Christmas holidays and will continue to do so it's my favourite Christmas movie ☺️
I have so many Christmas movies I love to watch every year the Santa Claus movies with Tim Allen I love watching them but this one i first saw when I was 10 and very since it's has been my favorite ever since and will always be my favorite it truly feels like a Christmas Movie and really brings out the magic of Christmas and the children inside us that loved Christmas.
I remember this movie back in 1985 sitting in the movie theater I don't remember if I was 7 or 8 but this so magical and I watched this every Christmas b/c David Huddleston made me believe in Santa he was the best Santa Claus and Dudley Moore was in this. Dudley Moore had such a sad life. This movie flopped at the box office when it came out but it was so magical to me at the time.
This is a VERY underrated and almost forgotten Christmas movie. I was about 10 years old when it came out and I have fond memories watching it during the season. I really like it because it tells a Santa story that is entertaining, non-ironic (lookin' at you Elf!), magical, and updated for the modern day. The Actors that played Santa and Mrs. Clause are dignified and regal; both delivering solid performances. Dudley Moore acts with such warmth and heart it's almost unbearable. John Lithgow is fantastic, as is the old elf with the super long beard. We should all demand that YT air this one for free every year! Merry Christmas :D
From the producers of the Superman films. Had a big budget going in, but a huge flop at the b.o. I don't think audiences were ready for this. Perhaps If it was made a few years later and committed itself to be a full on musical.
When i was young I seemed to remember a scene THAT I THOUGHT and still pretty sure was from this movie that has ALWAYS been one of my favorites, that show Santa bringing the two kids to his workshop and showing how he dressed for different countries, and now that scene is gone. I KNOW I am not crazy or having a false memory. Does anyone else remember if it was this movie or another movie and if so which one. I miss that, I remember being AMAZED by that scene to see all of the DIFFERNT out fits and what he is called in other countries. please help if you can I have been trying to find ANYTHING online showing that memory.
I think the movie ends with the two children (the homeless boy and B.Z.'s niece (?)) at the North Pole with Santa and there's a montage in the first part of the film that shows Santa delivering toys over the centuries and various children playing with vintage toys.
@@williamshaw9047 Yea I remember all that. but this scene was showing two young children or at least one of them how he appears and dresses and what he is called in other countries. I remember it because I as a young child never knew Santa had different outfits..lol I thought he looked the same everywhere. I have never found that clip and if it was not this movie I cant find the one it was in, But I really thought it was this film because I remember think WOW those are REAL REIGNDEER and LOOK and the neat specially food..lol
