Camielle rose some of her products have protein and are not good for low porosity hair especially if you have protein over load. Rice milk ,algae, etc. Are ingredients to look out for with these natural products. Please read ingredients or you will continue to have breakage. I appreciate lyda for sharing her info will try some of the products she reccomends. Now wet line has sodium hydroxide in it and if I'm not mistaken thats what's in relaxers. Aunt Jackie's has propylene glycol and I get hair fall with this ingredient which most so called natural products have in them. I do like her channel seems honest I will subscribe
I just recently found your channel, because of you I’ve learned that I have low porosity hair. For years and years I’ve been using products that were high in protein, that always left my hair dry and brittle. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and products suggestions. New subscriber and can’t wait for more videos!!! Thanks 😊 🤩
Yeh! I just fond her channel too.but subscribed immediately because I know I have low porosity hair..so I am always interested in knowing what to use for my hair to be thicker ,its healthy though..thanks for sharing😍
I'm very low porosity, and my favorite masque is the Shea Moisture Intensive Hydration hair masque. I also recently purchased their Purple Rice Water masque, which has protein; it instantly made my hair look and feel thicker, yet very smooth and soft. You've gotta try that one if you haven't already. I also really like the Mielle Rosemary Mint masque. I've been applying masques topped with creamy shea butter and coconut oil to moisturize my hair whenever it feels dry. I have a satin pillowcase but haven't worn a bonnet in forever, and my hair stays moisturized, even after I fall asleep on my couch with my head resting on cotton/poly quilt. I am so happy that I've found the cure for my dry brittle hair. As for the products you mentioned in this video, the Curl Junkie Smoothing Lotion was probably the very first leave in conditioner I purchased after my big chop; I didn't like it on my hair, so I gave it to my sister, and she loved it. I have yet to try a shampoo that I absolutely love for my lo-po hair, but I do like the Intensive Hydration one by Shea Moisture and the Mo Know's Hair Hydration Shampoo. I'll have to try your favorite from the Mane Choice, because I love the 3 in 1 Conditioner from the same line.
Hey guys! I finally have my favourites video for 2020 up! The majority of these hair products are protein free and silicone free! :) Full Product List is in the description box 😃 Let me know in the comments below what hair products I should try for 2021! :) Have a blessed day everyone! ❤️
You should try products from upnorth natural. I’ve used a lot of their products. I used to use Giovanni shampoo and conditioner but in my province it’s seems they don’t sell them anymore
@@psr076 I think the upnorth natural line is a Canadian company right? I think I have heard of them a while ago but haven't had a chance to try them out yet! What province are you in? Also, Giovanni and Amazon sell Giovanni online and a lot of Winners locations as well! Thanks so much for sharing :)
@@IydaMichael Yes upnorth is from 🇨🇦. I’m in Montreal Quebec. I used to find the Giovanni products in health foods stores and Winners. Now I rarely find them.
I also live in Canada and you're right the prices are ridiculous for some of these products. I buy products from Amazon US and pay for shipping and import fees and it's STILL cheaper than Amazon Canada! I wish natural hair products were more available. For my protein sensitive low porosity hair, I use rice water once a month. Lightly spray on my scalp and leave it for 20 min maximum. I follow up with a moisturizing deep conditioner. I've definitely noticed less shedding and my hair feels stronger.
Lyda thank you for this video! Your hair is soo similar to mine lol When Shea Moisture discontinued their Low Porosity line, I couldn't find ANY product combos that worked for my low porosity hair. One tip for low porosity folks is to use a clarifying or chelating shampoo often to get your hair completely clean before styling. I recently moved and the water was KILLING my hair. I use the ION hardwater Shampoo and it is a godsend!
Hey Iyda, I was sitting here thinking of relaxed short styles to try for the summer. I have 4c low porosity hair, and I'm still trying to find the promised land of this natural hair journey. The hardest part being moisture retention, and detangling. Something told me to Google hairstyles for 4c low porosity hair and your video was the first to pop up, and from there I navigated to this one. I will probably watch them all lol, and follow your channel forever!! I truly appreciate you for creating this wonderful content. I can't wait to fall in love with my natural hair as much as I was when it was relaxed. Thank you!!! 💜 #Team4CLowP
OMG! I can’t wait to finish and take notes! I have struggled for years to find someone whose hair texture/pattern/porosity match mine and the journey has been damaging more times than it’s been helpful. Getting the right combos down is so important! I honestly appreciate you for being here and sharing your knowledge. This is my 3rd video of yours I’m watching and I can’t wait to learn more and see my hair happy and healthy too! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
UPDATE: I tried a combo of Aztec Clay hair mask using water to mix and acv to rinse, followed by The Mane Choice The Alpha Shampoo, and the Giovanni 50\50 rinse out Conditioner, and I couldn't wait for Curl Junkie Smoothing Lotion to ship cause I'm going out of town, so I did the TGIN Green Tea Leave-In (since my hair is in serious damage recovery from mold toxicity, over co-washing and protein damage it was a good choice anyway) I rubbed a little of a twist butter I had on my ends and spritzed with an aloe floral water from Ava Estell for a gentle seal. HOLY CRAP it's a complete texture transformation. It's been years since I could feel my hairs usual softness, but the hydration is just right, not weighed down or greasy and I'm insanely grateful for you. Can't wait to try some of your other recommendations!
My favorite natural hair RU-vidr 😍 I have been waiting for this particular video for a while, I trust your reviews and recommendations, tried some of them. Thank you for your efforts and the informative videos. ♥
Hey!!! Merry Christmas!!!. So.. let me say the Camille rose coconut water deep conditioner, leave in and style setter! 😍... Sis!!! It changed my low porosity hair life!!!! I don't care for the cowash.... but those 3 are the top players! Talk about moisturized hair for DAYS!!!! If you have not tried them consider it. I think you will be pleased. 😉
Right! It's hard to come by a protein free and silicone free rinse out conditioner thats also very moisturizing and great at detangling and affordable! :) I haven't tried the shampoo though, maybe I should next!
I came across Aunt Jackie's by accident and omg, I love it! I very sensitive to fragrance , especially shea butter for some reason. Love this stuff and so much for 6 bucks? I can use it wet or dry. Try it at least once
Thank you so so much! you're the first person ive seen with the same hair type as mine. I seen your other videos and i was hype! My hair journey starts now.
i love you for this video. i did a big chop and my hair porosity changed to low so i had no idea what products to use. it’s like nothing really works. i’m definitely going to try these products
@@colourm3fab same cuz I was struggling bad girl. Nobody understands !! And people always assume bc I’m mixed I don’t have tighter curls when i do it’s so much harder to manage lol
I want to say thank you for having the patience to research and share your findings. I was very frustrated until I found your video, it really helped me out!!!☺️
I'm so glad you made a new video because I have 2c coarse texture medium density low porosity hair. My hair also hates anything coconut and no proteins or glycerin either. I'm having trouble finding alot of these in the actual store and hate to order online and have to wait for it...lol, alot of store products have coconut in them and I get very frustrated with that.
Wow we have almost the same hair but your curls are looser! My hair actually loves glycerin! Yes me too, I noticed all the products that my hair loves are hard to find in stores sometimes, but now that we have been in quarantine I'm used to shopping online for everything now! lol And for the coconut oil, don't get discouraged when you see it on the ingredient list, my hair doesn't mind it if its a small amount mixed in with other ingredients! I just can't use it alone!
@@IydaMichael hey! I recently found this video and we have very similar hair characteristics but I'm having a hard time finding some of these products online in Canada. Where are you typically ordering from?
I love the Giovanni 50/50 as my moisturizing shampoo. My scalp feels clean but my hair isn’t completely stripped. I would recommend the Mielle Organics Babassu Oil & Mint Deep Conditioner as a mild protein treatment. My hair feels very strong after use but also supple, not hard. And the mint smell is simply intoxicating. I don’t use a rinse out conditioner either. I’ve always found them to be pointless for my low po hair. I’ve recently been loving the Shea Moisturize Manuka Honey & Yogurt Hydrate + Repair Conditioner with Mafura & Baobab Oils. I use it as a deep conditioner and also a leave-in conditioner during the winter months. I specifically use this one because it’s coconut oil free.
I really need to try the Giovanni moisturizing shampoo next, you are the second person to recommend it! Thanks lovely ❤️ I tried the Mielle Organics Babassu Oil & Mint Deep Conditioner and it was too mild for me, I didn't feel that much of a difference in my hair :( I haven't tried Shea Moisture products in so long! Maybe I might give it a try but I haven't used their line in a while for a reason.
Girl I use at least 5 of those products! Great selection 👌! I use eden bodywork peppermint clarifying shampoo and shea moisture Manuka honey/ Marula oil shampoo! Thanks 🍯!!!
Hi Mia how do you like the sheamoisture manuka honey shampoo? I recently tried the JBCO line on my hair, my son's as well aaand it made our hair feel like a sandpaper factory 😑. Our hair felt dry and brittle.
Well jayda that JBCO line in high in protein especially Keratin proteins which is good if you need protein but for frequent weekly to biweekly use the Manuka honey line in the brown jars is very hydrating and more moisturizing! I definitely recommend the shampoo/ condish set, mask, and milk is great! You can finger detangle in the shower with this shampoo too! Thanks honey 🍯!😘😘😘
Thank you Mia! It's been a fun learning process for me. Now that I've concluded my son and I hair are both low porosity I'm seeing where I went wrong. I'm going to try that manuka honey and marula oil line a try because the struggle is real lol.
Thank you for the videos, they will definite help me as I am researching for my granddaughter's hair. I believe she may have low porosity hair so I will be tryout out some of your fav products.
New Subscriber ❤️ I’m Kinda Upset That I Didn’t Find Your Channel Sooner ! Thanks To You And Other RU-vidrs I’ve Figured Out That I Have Low Density, Low Porosity 4a/4b Hair. I’ve Been Using Products That Are Not Ideal For My Hair Type 🥲 Then I Found Your Channel And I’m So Happy I Did. Time To Start Taking Care Of My Curly Crown 👑
I am a new subscriber. It was through your videos that I was able to confirm I am lo po and have been searching for products that will work for my hair. Will look into these. Thank you!
I just started my natural hair journey yesterday! and bought products and am sitting with a deep conditioning cap lol I guess I’ll add these to my list lol 😆 I have a twa type 4 low po
Even though I haven't experimented with neither of these protein treatments yet, I think you'll love the Curl Junkie Repair Me Reconstructive Hair Treatment and Camille Rose Nangai and Tsubaki Strength Restore Protein Treatment.
Thanks so much for the product recommendations! Protein treatments are either too light or too strong for my hair, so hard to find a medium one! I hope these work! :)
Finally found someone who has my hair issues. We have completely different hair textures but my hair is just annoying. It is low porosity and protein sensitive as well and i also have a scalp condition which may be due to me being unable to properly moisturize my scalp but who knows. Some of these i've tried and don't work for me :( but I'm hoping here soon to buy a hair steamer and see if that helps the products out
I have coarse, wiry, low porosity type 4 hair AND a dry sensitive scalp so its hard to find stuff that won't easily cause build up otherwise after a few days scalp would start to itch like mad but after using my diy lightweight oils, TGIN super moist leave in. My hair is soft easy to detangle and I dont really get as much product build up as I used to. I think I'm on quite the low side of low porosity so I need to clarify my hair more than usual. I use the giovanni hydrating-clarifying shampoo and it leaves my hair squeaky clean plus its ph balanced as I live in a hard water area I also use soultanicals hibiscus hair healer and omg this has so much slip and it makes my hair so soft immediately and it absorbs into my hair well. Any sulphate free shampoo that has Cocamidopropyl Betaine in its first 5 ingredients my hair does not like, it makes my hair soooo dry. If its verrry low on the list of a shampoo its fine tho lol I live in the UK so sadly even online i can't get some of these products 😭
I didn't know people still used Curl Junkie as you don't see many videos about the line anymore. The Curl Rehab DC is amazing for deep conditioning and as a leave-in.
I like the TGIN Leave In Conditioner. Don't Despair Repair by Briogeo and CMR Coconut Water Penetrating Hair Treatment are great deep conditioners that are super moisturizing given that they contain protein.
I also love the Briogeo Don't Despair Repair but it is quite expensive so I didn't add it in my top favourites for 2020 but I did include it in my other favourite videos! I have been hearing so many great things about Camille Rose Coconut Water line and I can't wait to try! Thanks so much for sharing! :)
Hi & thanks for sharing ! Unfotunetaly in France we do not have all the products... Iam very tempted by Camille Rose products and can find its in France so I will try in 2021. Thanks again & beautiful as always !
Hello and you are so very welcome! Oh no, I didn't realize that, hopefully I can come across websites that ship internationally and share it in one of my videos or hopefully someone that knows of where you can find a lot of these products in France can respond to your comment to help!
My question is , when I use some of these moisturizers my hair would feel moisturized for a while then oily and dry at the same like the moisturizer is sitting on top of my hair instead of being absorbed and I tried the baking soda method which Is I rinse my hair in baking soda and it opens up the hair and allows moisture to get in and it seemed to work but not for long my hair just drank it up and now to dry again so any help
Iyda I love your channel, I can only try what you recommend ! Picked up the Ouidad from Ulta and saw your picture with the Haitian castor oil! The Ouidad was magical, I’ve never experienced cleansing and conditioning at the same time. Thank you so much! I wonder if I should have gotten the low-lather instead of the no-lather (too thick?) but I’ll eventually try both
Hey Iyda! I love your tips, they’re really helping me understand my hair! I have a question and a product recommendation. - For the xtreme wetline gel, I absolutely LOVE it. It really worked so well on my very thick, type 4, low porosity and protein sensitive hair. But my friend pointed out to me that the 3rd ingredient is sodium hydroxide or lye, which is also in relaxers. I got nervous about that and stopped using it. Is this something that’s concerning or is it a typical thing for gels? -I recently was introduced to Balance shampoo by AG and the Oatmeal and Honey hair deep conditioning mask by Catwalk. It sounds like we have a similar hair type and I think you will LOVE these...they are incredibly hydrating products. Thank you so much! Please keep those amazing recommendations coming!
Love to still see your hair thriving and informative videos! I created a new account I wonder if you remember me? Lol ❤️❤️❤️ I see you clarified without ACV any specific reason for that? I’ve tried Aztec with ACV and it clarified the hell out of my hair. I need to do it again because my hair is not the same. It’s like I have to start over, but trial and error
Thank you for the recommendations, my hair journey has been a roller coaster and I haven’t figured out my hair until recently. My hair is low porosity, medium-fine, type 4 hair. It’s much thinner in the front. My hair also hates coconut oil and makes it shed a lot. And eco styler gel tore out my edges, so I can’t use that either. I’ve been watching selina zinchuk’s on natural hair treatments and really love her channel. I would check it out. I learned how to make shampoo from her. But will definitely check the products your mentioned especially with styling. Maybe the hair gel you mentioned will work better on my hair. 😊
My hair is similar to yours. My hair doesn't like coconut as well. I sought out a dermatologist for mine. My intuition told me to see one. And I am glad that I did. You should check out Curly Chemistry. She is a chemist. She has a video out not about products for low porosity hair. And her videos are awesome. She tells you specifically which products are good for low porosity hair. That's who I look at.
@@carolharper4401 Thank you for the recommendation, I’ll check her out. I’m also dealing with Central Centrifugal Cicatricial Alopecia (CCCA) which is due to inflammation in my scalp. It’s mild but I do notice my hair isn’t as voluminous like it was before and certain products really irritates my scalp and hair where it causes more shedding. (Most can’t tell because I still have a head full of hair) So any suggestions to save the hair I did have would help.
I didn't care for the blueberry bliss, didn't like the application and it flakes which could be based on the leave-in I used but Camille and Miche pairs well with everything.
@@veronicaholguin9599 Its kind of thick but not heavy and didn't way my hair down but it did take awhile to absorb in my 4c hair so I now use the TGIN Rose Water Leave-in which works perfect and I love the scent.
Hello! I still love it but it is not my favourite! And from what I remember the consistency was too thin and the jar didn't last long. I just wanted to include my top favourites for this video but I included it in my previous favourites and they are listed in the description box :)
Have you tried Chocolate Kinks and Curls? I would also suggest Curls and Potions (and forgive me if you have tried them already) and one or more of the sister brands like SheScentIt and Curl Origin. Let me know if you want product recommendations. I am trying the first two myself, but I have more experience with the latter two brands.
I haven't tried or even heard of any of those products you mentioned but I will definitely take a look into them! Thank you so much for sharing and have an awesome day/evening! 😃
@@IydaMichael No problem. I hope your holiday season is going well. I am always interested in seeing people try less common brands. I have been able to find Curls and Potions in a physical store, but my understanding is that outside of the New York area it is harder to find stuff from SheScentIt, Curl Origin and so on.
I just bought the Audrey organic balancing conditioner but I did not use it yet . I saw in some comments it’s very good for low porosity hair to use only once a month. Do a research on it to see if you like it a month
Is it the honeysuckle one? That used to e=be my favourite one but I thought they discontinued it or changed their formula I don't remember because it was a few years ago.
Are you a chemist or related major? Based on your videos and ingredients video especially. You know exactly what your talking about. I’m a chem related major so just wondering. I found that the products with oil and butters for the most part don’t help out at all, compared to products with mostly extracts. I ended up having to stop using the majority of the natural hair products. They were drying and caused breakage. I’m surprised because the chemists who make the products, I would expect them to know better. Instead of just putting oils as the main ingredients as moisturizers. Also like to thank you for sharing your experiences. Despite having 4c/ low po hair. I’ve tried your recommendations and finally found products that actually work.
Thank you so much for your kind words! I have taken cosmetic chemistry courses and have done my own extensive research on natural hair and natural hair products/ingredients and have the experience of a lot of trial and error with my low porosity, protein sensitive, type 4 coarse hair texture! I went natural several years ago when their wasn't that much info on our hair type and not that many products that worked so I decided to learn and create my own hair products since I couldn't find any good ones at the time! I think if you are passionate enough you can self teach yourself anything and become an expert eventually! I am always learning about my hair still until this day and I love to constantly expand my knowledge in this area of interest especially!
And I am SO happy that my videos have been helpful! This is why I am so passionate about making these videos! I want our sisters to wear their crown proud! 🥹
@@IydaMichael Aww thank you for the reply! I’m grateful for your channel and it’s been a joy watching your channel grow. Keep up the good work and I can’t wait for what your channel entails. P.S. I you have amazing hair, I’m glad you stayed natural! It’s been a struggle now because a or of type 4s aren’t natural anymore.
@@IydaMichael watched them, but it only talks about protein treatments. Im looking to incorporate a shampoo or conditioner with a little of amino acids every week. Any suggestions?
🔥LydaM💃! Wich of these prods (ty too 4 this list) are ALL natural? Do u lik Mielle's? If so, how'd they work on ur hair? How'd u figure our wat type of hair u have n the front & back? My hair, I believe, became low porosity cuz I tried a hair care I shldnt have bought😕MY hair was beautiful til then😠Also, are all or some of these prods phenoxyethanol & alcohol free🤔? TY supr much & look fwd 2 hearing from u😄🙂🤗!
I'm really struggling to find a leave in. My hair is low porosity and absolutely hates Coconut , Cetearyl Alcohol and Aloe Vera. there in every product, is there anything you can recommend? I'm so desperate 🥺
Hello! I have low porosity hair and was considering giving my hair a protein treatment with the TGIN miracle repair CPR protein treatment and was wondering your thoughts on it. is it too much for people with low porosity hair?
C2 dry and damages hair low porosity Spanish hair what should I do no matter what I put it's always dry brittle I'm just now trying to understand the hole hair and product combo
Hello! I have low Porosity hair and I'm thinking about doing a protein treatment. I'm considering the tgin miracle repair cpr protein treatment and was wondering your thoughts on it?
I am sorry the gel is costing you to ship. I have heard somebody say that innersense I create hold is similar. maybe protein with larger proteins instead of the smaller ones. smaller proteins like mielle's deep conditioner, larger some people like trepadora's quinoa or maybe the quinoia from honey's handmade line.
I tried ordering from miche about a month ago, but my order didn’t go through because it wouldn’t allow me to enter my Canadian address. Maybe there was just a glitch ...🤔
There is a Canadian website that sells Miche products. Look up Roots to Curls. They are an authorized seller and I bought a bunch of Miche products from them.
Hi Lm. Thank you so much for the video because all the females in my family have low porosity hair. But can i mix apple cider vinegar to my clay hair mask to open up my hair cuticles? and which works more effectively at this, the water or ACV?
Hello! The apple cider vinegar is acidic so it will lower the pH level of the clay mask and will not open your hair cuticles as much as mixing it with water. It will be less moisturizing with just water but the pH level will be higher and as a result it will raise your cuticles more. Just make sure to follow up with a moisturizing deep conditioner after you rinse out the clay mask ❤️
What would you recommend for someone with low porosity protein sensitive fine 2b hair? I don’t know how significant the difference between course and fine hair when it comes to what products work best. I have so much trouble finding anything that works and my hair will not detangle no matter what I do
Texture ID also have a line catered to type 2 hair !! I say try them they are really good honestly. That Camille rose, Shea moisture, aunt Jackie’s, and miss Jessie’s pillow soft curls ! Also I do you detangle your hair ? :)
