I love the maples but also have some Britannias and ASEs in my Stack

I always try to get collectible bullion from an LCS that sells collecible bullion at the same price as generics. Win win!

I stack silver generic rounds like the buffalo. Also 90% silver , 925 sterling I find at yard sales

There's a Nebraska online dealer with very low premiums out there. Much lower than elsewhere. I think you should be looking to buy basic rounds until you have a few hundred of them. Then look at five and ten ounce bars, maybe even a kilo if you save up. You will be getting as much weight as possible. Of course, more divisible stuff may be best for shtf, if that's your motivation. Fractional (i.e. 90% is the direction a lot of people go for shtf). Also, the premiums on ASE's isn't that high compared to a year or so back. It's higher than other items but man, was it up there before. You might pay 50% or MORE in premium a while back.

Yeah I've definitely gotta get myself a few tubes of buffaloes and maples. I got caught up buying collectible stuff that I neglected the stack. Once I've got several tube's of each I'll start with bars. Hopefully Eagles chill out over time. Until then buffaloes and maples it is

I only buy junk and sovereigns (mostly eagles) as they are most liquid. No generic rounds or bars for me

Ever thought about the Britannia? Think it's more beautiful than maples and security features are top notch

@jamesr6093 I have! And I agree it is the better looking coin. But I feel the maples are more recognizable here in the United states. I'm still going to get some britannias though

There is an interesting catch: I can buy numismatic coins on P2P auctions below the stock exchange price of silver. So I am tempted to continue buying these despite the problem with recognition.

I agree. At the end of the day 1 oz is 1 oz. And if you're able to get your hands on it for decent price then go for it 100%

I like them. But I'm really trying to increase weight for the stack as fast as possible right now so I'm going to focus buffaloes and maples. 2 buffaloes for every 1 maple is a ratio I'd like to stick to. I just can't afford that premium right now. Eagles would take me a lot longer to stack. Biggest mistake I've made as a new stacker was buying a bunch of collectors pieces instead of weight for my stack. The majority of my silver are pieces that I will never sell. But hey I'm pretty new to this and it's all so fun and there's some amazing pieces out there that I really wanted. So I bought them. Better than wasting my money on bs. But yes I like eagles and they would be great for shtf as well

I don’t know gold or silver will be much use in a shtf situation, coffee,salt ,sugar ,aspirin and so on will probably be way more valuable 🤔

That's true until the dust settles. Once civility is re established having a form of real currency will be a massive advantage. Word would spread like wildfire as to what is valuable and what is not. Without a dollar to use, silver ounces will quickly become the transactional unit of the land. Thanks for watching!
