Michael Tetkoski hey dude I really recommend you watch mind the gap it’s a powerful documentary about growing up while skating and is filmed by one guy. It’s on Hulu if you wanna watch it
the movie KIDS is mainly focused on how HIV can spread easily for adolescents/teenagers. From what I recall, I could only remember 2-3 scenes with skateboarding, so I understand why it wasn't on the list
Mid90s I watch like 3 weeks ago and it’s really good, funny, and really did a good job standing out from other skateboarding movies. I agree with his ratings
Julisa Espina sameeee but when he ended up almost doing the dirty with the girl and he came out of the room and said, “she made me stick two fingers up her Vagina” I LAUGHED SOOO FUCKING HARD DUDE
Kids (1995) was pretty good too. It's not concentrated around skateboarding, but it features some pros, especially from ZooYork. In my opinion every skater should watch it.
Dogtown and Z Boys should’ve been mentioned when you talked about Lords Of Dogtown, it was the precursor to Lords and it was one I rented from Blockbuster at least once a month. Also Gleaming The Cube needs to be on this list. It’s a classic
I think that's what he was talking about in the beginning when he said something like, You can tell that the people involved had no idea about skateboarding. Which makes them super hard to watch.

i was around 8 years old when i found about Grind just playing randomly on TV and my mom would told me to turn it off cos she thought it was a movie for "adults"
I think if skate kitchen had had a different director to help the kids who weren't actors, it could have been so much better. Some of the shots were cool and artsy, and I dug the female representation. But I just wasn't that in to the story or the acting. It made it feel really slow moving unfortunately.
I do believe that you done something really interesting with this brief essay of yours. Thanks dude. Being born in 76 I'm a lot into the film Thashing. Another flick that stiked my gen was "gleaming the cube" starring Chris Slater. Have you watched that one, yet? It's a cute pictuer. Too bad that Mid 90 did not got distr here in Italy and that Skate kitchen got in few theatres for a week or two only. I agree that girl skaters are, each day a bit more, increasing in numbers and with such a fine techinique!
Thrashin’, Gleaming the Cube, and Search For Animal Chin. Yeah I know I was born in 75’, but these are accurate staples in skateboarding history and pop culture!
Skate movies that were not included are: “What’s up Rockers”, “Gleaming the Cube”, “ The Skateboard Kid”, “Paranoid Park”, “Grind”, Atlas Electric” and “Macho Taildrop”.
I'm not a skater but I would like to be in the future (when I have enough money to buy a skateboard). However mid90s was an amazing film. I absoutely love it!
I skateboard because I think it’s a really beautiful sport and like how Rodney Mullen said it’s a way to express myself, and how you can show yourself in your style and specific traits like your favorite board or if you love to skate vert or park or street, it’s just a way for people to show themselves and I believe that’s what skateboarding is
Gleaming the cube was a awesome skateboard movie. It’s about a skateboarder named Brian (played by Christen Slater) finding out what happened to his Vietnamese brother. It’s a very interesting film I suggest u check it out (love your content skate box) also check out police academy 4 (it has a pretty awesome skateboard scene).
Bro ngl all those movies are the best also you should recommend natas documentary he’s one of the reasons why street went from less hyped to most popular form of skateboarding ever
Gleaming the cube is another good one. The skateboarding in the movie is intertwined with a plot that is *alright*, and there’s appearances from tony hawk and more
FYI Lords Of Dogtown actually has some of the real people involved with the making of the movie and they have roles in the movie. its awesome because even though they did do some exaggerating they worked very close with the real guys to get it right.
The bones brigade got me into skateboarding. Rodney Mullen got me into freestyle and then later I tried doing vert ricks like some tony hawk creates, the Mc twist etc.
I’ve only seen 3 of the movies in this video and here’s my opinion on the ones I’ve seen so Grind yes it’s cheesy and corny but it’s pretty funny and just nice for laughs don’t take it as a serious skating movie. Mid90s I’ve seen and it’s good it shows how the main character is just trying to fit in and make friends with their love of skateboarding. And Skate Kitchen I just saw recently and I love it so much the whole cast is lovable and it’s nice to see a girl skate crew for a change cause skating really is over populated as a guy thing but these girls know what they’re doing and can actually do trick and all that it’s one of my favorite skateboarding movies I’ve ever seen I can watch it over and over plus the soundtrack is amazing there’s also a spin off/reboot show to it called Betty
With the exception of Sid, Lords Of Dogtown is an almost direct telling of what was going on. A bunch of scenes in it are recreated from photos shown in Dogtown & Z-Boys
Yeah I know you said that some movies were super hard to watch because of how they were made but you gotta admit Gleaming the Cube had some pretty good scenes with pros like Hawk and Mullen doing all the stunts.
I love the bones brigade doc! It's one of my favorite movies. All This Mayhem is the only one I haven't seen. I've heard of it though and the 900 controversy. I'll definitely check it out. Thrashin is Romeo and Juliet as a skateboard movie. I'm not even exaggerating. If you've read Romeo and Juliet, you can totally tell. It's a super goofy film but it is fun to watch if you try not to take it too seriously.
Hey just so you know you use "Girl Skater" to describe female skaters and not "Boy Skaters" to describe male skaters. "Girl Skaters" are also just skaters. Also that movie got turned into a great HBO show called Betty that was really good. Love that the actors also skated!
look ima say this in the nicest way possible how have y’all never seen gleaming the cube! it was made in 1989 and it has tony hawk, it got me into skating one of the best skating movies by far 🤞🏻
