In this Best Buy guide, I compare the Unistellar EVscope v2, Unistellar Equinox 2, Vaonis Stellina, Vaonis Vespera Classic edition, Vespera II, and Vespera Pro, ZWO Seestar S50, and Dwarf II smart telescopes. Based on factors such as price, telescope type, camera, ease of use, real-world photo quality, storage capacity, weight, and size, this guide aims to help you make an informed decision. I conclude the comparison by discussing which smart telescopes are the best in their price class, ranging from $500, $1500, $2500, and a high-end $4000. I’ll be updating this Best Buy guide periodically as more smart telescopes become available.

I love my Dwarf 2. Portable, simple and quick to put into operation. The image quality that such a small and economical object can produce is incredible!

Good review. Received my seestar s50 a couple of days ago but have not had the chance to try it out due to storms we've recently had in Scotland.

Great review, I agree with your conclusion between the dwarf and the Seestar. I am having a lot of fun with my Seestar and learning a lot about post processing.

What an outstanding video Wido, I have now seen several of your reviews across many smart telescopes as I am trying to "narrow" down my choice for conducting Outreach events for STEM here in the UK. I am liking the Vespera 2 (thoroughly enjoyed your review and the music) and I will be interested to see your thoughts and journey compared to the Vespera Pro in time :) Again, I seriously like the way you present, you provide all the essential information in a totally unbiased way and I love the before and after (processed) images. I have now hit the "subscribe" button and will look forward to your next reviews. Thank you again for doing what you do :) Steve (Muston Observatory)

Great review and you are going to get busy in the future. EEA is populair with the entry level scopes, and looking forward to see what dwarf or ZWO will bring us. The Vespera is tempting but owning a dwarf still gives me loads of fun!

I love my Dwarf 2. It was cheap enough that I bought it on a whim. I was amazed at what I could see that I couldn't with just a telescope. It reintiated my interest in astronomy. I bought a couple more telescopes since but I use the Dwarf 2 the most. It is just so easy, portable, and to make any significant jump better you need a lot more money. I like to use it in the day. It makes a great telescope watching birds, whales, boats. I live buy the water. It will track a speedboat while recording. I can watch people on the deck of a crab boat from over 2 miles away. Time lapse on the incomine tide is great. Oh yah, I got great shots of Orion Nebula and the Adromeda Galaxy. It's huge.

Great Review. I've been enjoying the Dwarf II for a couple of months now and just took delivery of the Seestar S50. I think each has their place with the difference in the field of view. Looking forward to getting the Seestar out and putting it through its paces. Thanks for the review.

I travel a lot to dark sky locations and have been sticking with a tripod and dslr. If I'm on the go often, would it make the most sense to get the vespera 2 or are there alternative portable set ups around that price point?

Love my seestar just the field rotation holds it back. Just a as all alt az I wish seestar would do mosaic you can do mosaic in pixensights but have to stack it there and results require good knowledge of sophisticated software and pricey, I found astro pixel processing for mosaics but didn't use it enough to be able to say it's level of complexity. Ease of use is exceptional on seestar 😊😊
@AstroForumSpace
@AstroForumSpace 5 месяцев назад
The Vaonis Vespera has"mosaic", up to 4x the camera sensor size. It's also more expensive :-).

One thing all aspirants of a smart telescope need to remember that Jupiter, Saturn and Mars are best done only in standard GoTo telescopes. Sun and Moon is fine BUT selling Smart Telescope to beginners must include this sidenote.

Thank you for making this great review. I really enjoyed learning about the smart telescopes. I understand that the Seestar s50 has a built-in dew heater. I’d like to know which other smart telescopes also have a dew heater?
@AstroForumSpace
@AstroForumSpace 5 месяцев назад
Tx! The Vaonis smart telescopes can be outfitted with an internal dew heater. To my knowledge, Unistellar smart scopes don't have an integrated heater. The Dwarf ii doesn't have one.
@toodvanbeekster2461
@toodvanbeekster2461 5 месяцев назад
The Dwarf has a manual dew heater, but it derives it's heat from increasing it's CPU processes. There is a option in the app. It is a bit strange, but it works.

Very helpful video . Appreciated. @ 17:45 : is this real image by the vaonis vespera telescope? Thanks because it’s stunning 👍🏻

Yes, it is. I did some minimal post processing to reduce noise and get higher contrast. Very easy to learn.

Do any of these smart telescopes enable the use of specialized filters (Other than solar filters)? I.e. Ha, SII, and OIII filters

I can get one of these or a sw gti to plop my dslr on. I assumed smart telescopes were just toys but that seastar seems pretty impressive

It’s just a bummer, that the FOV/Sensor orientation can’t be turned free in the Seestar!!
@AstroForumSpace

Yes, Dwarf ii will give you a larger field of view, but with a lower resolution, the Vaonis Vespera does have an option to rotate the sensor but is 1K more expensive...pros and cons. It will be interesting to watch how this market of smart telescopes will develop...

My wishlist: 1. 50mm (250mm) Pezval scope, that can be extended with an insert to 72mm (~400mm) for nice versatility. Like Askar V… 2. good Sensor with ~3.5 sized pixels - 4/3rds size 3. field rotation 4. Equatorial please!!
