I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge with us, I've been an artist for many years but recently got into spray paint art and this video was a great help, thank you!
@@AshSchultzArt I like the cosmos Art per say Royal Purple Orange Black Blue Stars White Stars Red stars a Sun or even great White neuron Star in the middle I am however very much curious how to get the shiny effect on the star or Suns I think White Blue and Red suns look amazing :)
I know this is a bit of an older upload but I still wanted to comment and say thank you for being so willing to share your skills and techniques!! I haven’t even touched a can of paint yet but have so much fun watching how they’re made.
So, I’m doing my first spray art on an old suburban roof left in the yard to resurface.. I’m doing this in Nevada summer. Wish me luck! I love your videos, they gave me inspiration to do this!
Oo, I don’t miss the Vegas heat in the summer and I’m supposed to be coming out for a show in August lol good luck with your project though, I’m glad you got some use out of my videos
Oh my word😮. I was totally blown away watching this. Not only is it my kinda thing space ,planets etc but the way you did this is also the mix of colours🤩 spectacular. Amazing🎉.thank you for sharing these vids. Sami!
AS AN ARTIST NOT ONLY DO I MONUMENTALLY APPRECIATE YOUR AMAZING TUTORIAL BUT AS AN ARTIST THIS CAN BE A PAINTING IN AND OF ITSELF OUTSTANDING SPECTACULAR TY🎉❤😮
In the beginning I was like, yeah whatever, not impressed, and as you continued I thought omg sooooo cool. Haha, so sorry for my first minute response. And thank you for all the awesome rest!!
Where can I get those Montana paints in the states here I think you're in Virginia or something aren't you could you shoot me some info on where I can get them
At the time of this video I was based in Las Vegas, but I’m not in Central Florida. I got the Montana’s prints at Dick Blick art store in Vegas, but they do have a website that you can order from. So your best options are checking local art supplies stores or ordering them from Amazon, dickblick.com or whatever else online you find them
I just loved your video. I didn’t know anything about this kind of art until my 11 year old grandson informed me he was starting a business with the money he had saved! And, that’s exactly what he did two weeks ago. He is going at it with such confidence and already improving. And, that’s what brought me to your video. I’m looking forward to showing it to him.
Great tips, I am doing my first spray paint project an old industrial fan , its huge, and I thankyou for the tips and tricks I've learned a few things already from your video!
Great tutorial! I'm gonna spray paint my knife throwing target :) it's a tall wooden closet door gonna be all space scene with planets as targets :) Nebulae included. But the way, plural is NEBULAE. In the very beginning of the video, your said NEBULAS. yes, had to. Cheers
Hey Ash, Im hoping you can help me. I just did a painting yesterday that I was finally happy with, after 6 months of painting I had what I considered a perfect result. When I got home today I clear coated it and it instantly crazy cracked. I'm gutted. Would you know what caused it? I'm using rustoleom gloss, I did use a bit of clear while painting it cause it dried out, would going over it after using the clear while painting it cause this? Sorry for the long winded comment but any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Send me a pic of what happened on my Instagram @ash_schultz_art. I haven’t encountered this in a long time so I’m trying to think of what could’ve happened. I don’t use rusto much, mostly krylon or Montanas, so the only thing that comes to mind is a funky reaction with the clear but I need to see what happened
I know this sounds daft but I can’t get my star points with small lines. They always end up being long lines, is that the type of spray nozzle or just me and technique? X
Part of it is being able to just barely press the nozzle, but also keeping it close to whatever you’re using to help create the line. Close to the shield, close to the paper and just the slightest of presses on the tip. It’s a bit trickier with the fat tips on most cans now
Always had trouble doing a quick small burst of white by hand. Can wait to try that 2nd can technique bumping the cap. Also, your shooting stars are not terrible at all. I’ve been doing that “bump the can upside-down” for the past year since starting and it’s just too messy (especially trying to attempt on framed canvas 😬 lesson learned)
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-B3sXexB7wZs.html I dont know if youve ever seen Matt Sorenson’s channel? He has taken aerosol art to another level. I believe he passed away at a rather early age. RIP. Anyways it’s incredible what he does with spraying paint !!
Thank you again for sharing your amazing talent , most people don't realise that as humans we make mistakes and as in life and learning we need to make mistakes to learn love your art 😃
Lovely work! But a quick note for future reference: The plural of "nebula" is actually "nebulae". That's the term astronomers & astrophysicists use, anyway, right outta the dictionary! 😁😄👍🏼 But wow, you've got some cool techniques here!
I wouldn’t say there’s a best, like with most things, cheaper likely means the quality sucks. I like using krylon, or even Montana. Rustoleum has some good color options, and works well, but I highly recommend that you experiment with what’s available to you and see what you like
Wonderful video, great info. I’ve been drawing for years - lots of custom calligraphy, tagging, abstract psychedelic stuff - fun, cool looking shit. Nothing insane, out of this world, professional work - rather just a skill that I’ve developed for myself. Coming across this video is like opening the door to a whole new world; tomorrow I am going to get ten different cans, some canvases, find the old newspaper stack, cut myself some stencils, and see what I can make happen. What type of material/paper would you be using for a super flat, clear work surface, as opposed to canvas? (Such as the material in this video). And - Would you clear coat the entire project at the end, as a finishing touch? I suppose that depends on what you’re going for as far as the finished product goes.
Thanks for checking it out and I’m glad you found something useful and inspiring! As for material: coated paper is probably your most inexpensive option. Think poster board, how it has that glossy side to it? Paper will just absorb the paint so it’s got to have that coating to it. Otherwise, anything else along those lines will do. You just want to be sure the paint doesn’t absorb into the surface you’re painting on. I recommend clear coating the entire thing. The gloss clear will make all the colors pop more vibrantly, but it’ll subtly smooth the painting, merge everything together in a way.
To get a finer spray from your cans it’s best to warm them. Get one of those cheap $20 electric flat griddles from like Walmart and put it on the lowest setting and set your cans on that. Give them time to warm up. You should be able to hold the can in your hand and it feel warm. If they’re too hot to touch them quickly get them off the heat but that shouldn’t be an issue on the low setting while using them. Be mindful of the ambient temperature outside. Obviously in the colder months of the year you can increase the heat.
Ahhhhh ok thank you very much! I appreciate your response. I was kind of wondering why my paints have been so think and heavy. I just started doing this as a hobby a couple months ago and have been watching tutorial after tutorial and always hear something new. Thank you again!
@@notmodeling8070 it’s basic techniques you apply to making a nebula. How the nebula turns out is up to you and your approach to it. This is just giving you ways to do it
8:53 A happy frog suddenly appeared… Lol! In think I like the first and fourth examples the best because they seem to look more natural. The second example is really neat too though because it looks like something ripped a hole in space and a giant face is peeking through. An awesome space video game I’ve been playing a lot lately is called Rebel Galaxy, which has tons of awesome nebulae that you can fly your spaceship through.
