UPDATE 2023: In the best interest of my audience I can no longer recommend the Galaxy Projector 2.0 given some fulfilment issues and over the top pricing. One thing I noticed and I'd like to see in future iterations of projectors is that the stars need to be more heterogenous meaning some stars are more pronounced, some are more laid back and maybe some randomness in positioning rather than a consistent grid. It would give a more 3D effect. The smart star/galaxy seemed to have the edge. Awesome video as always Julian!
I agree! It's a bit of a limitation with the technology as far as I know, they probably use a glass filer to make the patterns! Anyhow, thanks for watching and dropping a comment!
My exact thought , I really liked the galaxy projector 2.0 but the stars pattern was the same and it didn’t look very realistic ,specially in the middle ,it’s hard to get a perfect projector tho I think I’m just very picky
@@FUTURESPACECOLLECTIVE I feel like the old school "Can You Imagine - Twilight Star Projector" did have what appeared to be randomly moving stars. Of course, that was also a pretty bare bones and noisy unit otherwise. I remember a friend having this a good 16 years ago.
I used to have one of the red and blue cloud plus green little laser stars like these. It was alright. But I was always bummed cause I have always dreamed of getting one that looked like truly magnificent. Like nebulas galaxies or realistic looking space and stars and stuff. Like a beautiful planetarium.
Get a Sega. But you must be prepared to completely darken the room because I have one and if you only have the faintest of other light source inside (or outside) the room it will completely wash out the projection.
Mad respect bro!! Your channel is such a keeper, so glad I came upon it like two days ago, I’ve watched so many of your vids already. Not only is this channel and the studio itself a whole vibe, but your personality and your energy seem pretty genuine, it’s almost like engaging in a conversation. I can tell you’re really passionate about it, you’ve got a new fan bro! Keep sending them cool vids! 💯
Hey Juan! Thanks man and welcome to the collective! There's definitely passion behind the vids! I appreciate your support and engagement in watching so many of the vids.
Excellent, Detailed, Technical, In dept analysis mate, you've covered almost all the aspects which a confused buyer has in his mind!! you made my decision super easy!! Thanks a lot for your wonderful detail oriented video, Really appreciate that!!!
I wanted one of these for the longest time then I started researching the best star projector because I need a night light to sleep. And after finding out about the sega flux planetarium it was over for these starlight projector things. They just Don't compare. The sega flux is literally like having the galaxy on your ceiling and I never get over looking at it every night. Best thing I ever bought
I recently bought a Galaxy Projector 2.0 projector but under a different brand and a Blisslite Evolve. The Evolve wins hands down for me. Small advantages over the 2.0: newer and better look and feel in the app, a power supply included, a proper on/off switch with subtle blue backlighting. Installing both in the app was a breeze because I already used the smart home app for some other devices. The Evolve immediately received an update of its firmware. Now the really big differences: Laser: the 2.0 had green laser and the Evolve Blue. I could not find a blue laser 2.0. As I expected i greatly preferred the blue ones because to me they are a bit closer to real (white) stars then green ones. The green ones were brighter on the 2.0 but I found them overly bright compared to the nebula. Then the nebulas, and this is where things REALLY get different: the 2.0 is older technology compared to the Evolve. To make it simple the Evolve produces WAY more natural nebulas. The red green and blue get very wel mixed to produce natural shades of colours. The 2.0 really has much more separate red, green and blue projections, they are not mixed at all. Also: the nebula looks sharper (more “hi-res”) on the evolve and the movements are more spectaculair. Because the Blisslight Evolve was even cheaper than the 2.0 I sent the last one back and ordered a 2nd Evolve because my room is quite large. Very happy with the Evolve.
Your advice to go for an older projector for single color use was such a good call. It made me get both the SkyLite v1 and v2 for comparison. And I gotta say, I like the v1 wayyy better for an actual night sky vibe. The blue nebula covers the whole area, but it's a whole different, less saturated shade of blue as well. Also other unexpected changes like the rotation speed being slightly faster on the v1. Having them both projecting next to each other the v2 seems really underwhelming to me. I guess that's the tradeoff for having RGB, but for people that only want that night sky look I can only recommend trying the v1! Thanks again for your videos, would've for sure just bought the v2 otherwise.
Hey Micky, glad to hear you found that advice useful! Thanks for some further insights as well. I agree the v2 of the Blisslights is a bit underwhelming. If you want the RGB and features definitely go for the GP2.0!
This is a nice video detailing three readily available star projectors. My thoughts below... Smart Star Projector: IMO this strikes the best balance in projection quality for the stars and nebula. They're not *quite* as good as the Galaxy Projector 2.0, but close. The stars appear more consistent throughout the spread of the projection which is why I like it the best. Galaxy Projector 2.0: Best looking nebula and nice, bright stars. However, the stars get fuzzy and distorted when they get further from the center of the projection. It's like the lasers are hitting at very sharp angles at this position. This is strange since the Smart Star Projector doesn't look like it exhibits the same quirk despite presumably coming from the same mold as the Smart Star Projector. Blisslight Sky Lite 2.0: Star projection is much too dense and uniform looking for me to enjoy. Unnecessary app permissions feel like consenting to a full-body cavity search. Still seems to have these same issues with the newer "Evolve" model. They have a good price, warranty, and availability but the projection quality just isn't up to snuff. I wouldn't buy this one. I was considering these as Christmas gift ideas this year (looking for both green and blue star units for a paired setup) and I'm leaning towards the Smart Star Projector now. Seems hard to find good quality blue star variants, though.
Hey Ryoko! Thanks for your watching and happy you've been able to do such an analysis based on the tests - Hopefully you've been able to make a choice, all the best!
Thank you so much, I'm actually in the market to get one of these and this video really elaborates and shows me which I'm actually looking for, great review
The most annoying thing i found with the Sky Lite 2.0 is it has no on board or in app memory, whenever i turn my power off (when i go out) and come back home and turn it back on again it never remembers what you last had it on and goes straight to the default full brightness all colours mode
One thing about the bliss light 2.0 is there’s 2 options when you buy it, blue stars or green stars. And the green stars are far brighter than the cobalt blue
Really fantastic comparison. Just to let anyone know who might be interested, I've got the Blisslights 2.0 but they make a version with blue stars which I think looks much better than the green stars and they seem better spaced apart and not so "clumpy". Also, it's very quiet and I use it to sleep under at night. I turn off the nebula and turn on the stars to low brightness and turn off the rotation. I don't hear anything from the machine unless I get very close. My only wish would be that all of these things had a better way to aim the device. If you have a lower ceiling like I do, trying to find a place to put it to get full coverage of the ceiling while making sure it doesn't shine into your eyes can be difficult. Yes, they are very bright when you get near them and don't look at them, the glare can hurt your eyes. It won't be permanent, of course, but it isn't pleasant to walk by it and get that strong flash in your eye. Other than those two things, I love mine. Great job, man! I just love your channel, you show much cool stuff!
Hey Julia! As far as I know the blue stars are the exact same as the green in terms of pattern. I feel as though they get lost a bit with the blue projection (I had a blue star of the original model). However, if you're using it like you've described without the nebula projection I think the blue stars would be favourable for sure! Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts, appreciate your support of the channel!
@@FUTURESPACECOLLECTIVE they probably are the same, but maybe because I have a popcorn ceiling (oh, apartment living!) they might look a bit more spaced out. You have a great channel, keep it up!
Recently bought the Skylight 2.0 for the kids and livetd it so much we got one for our room too. 😂 We go the blue star version and feel like the stars are pretty bright and sharp on it. Overall brightness is really bright too. My daughter likes it bright at night and it literally lights up her whole room at night. We keep our brightness turned pretty far down and it's still pretty bright. Can't figure out the timer for the life of me. I can get it to turn off okay but no idea how to get it to turn on at a certain time. If anyone knows how to turn it on at 8pm and off at 8am please share! Great video by the way. ✨
Thanks for watching Fun with Bugs! To answer your question the timers are not schedulers on the Blisslights Skylite, and you're right about interface, not very intuitive. For $10 or so you can pickup a smart plug: amzn.to/3rkxPyn and do proper scheduling on/off. Or just Get the Galaxy Projector :)
Hi, A very well made video. Lots of info described clearly. Really helpful. Do you know of a star projector that has, realistic white stars that move? Thanks
Hi Peter, thanks for the kind words, if you're looking for something more realistic perhaps you'll like this more: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QaNa3w96IfY.html
I actually brought the Astronaut Light Projector and I absolutely love it. If it were to buy one of these, it would be the bliss. Not sure if you've ever did a video of the Astronaut Light Projector for kids...I think you'd like it (I got mines from Amazon) sending love from Virginia ❤
I went to the Galaxy Projector site and there's 2 different options a green and a blue. What version did you use in the video? Thank you for the reivew!
Another great video! As much as I love my Blisslights Skylite 2.0, not gonna lie, the Galaxy Projector 2.0's colors look much better and have way more of a rainbow effect when all the colors are turned on, which I love. In the comparisons at 5:03, 9:21, and 10:39, you can see more orange and purple in the other projectors as opposed to Blisslight's which looks more like just red, green, and blue
@@DaveSstation you’re welcome! =) The Galaxy one looks great! I also saw that Skylite 3.0 aka "Skylite Evolve" is coming soon. It’ll feature new colors like pink, purple, and turquoise. I wonder how nice it’ll look compared to the 2.0.
Your channel is such a vibe! The galaxy 2.0 is definitely the nicest imo, I only wish the starts were white and not green! can I please know where you got the red beams in your background?
I made a video on the beam lights in the background here with links in description:ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ct6rgnAK-6c.html - Thanks for watching and supporting the channel!
First! can't wait to see the Galaxy version, been seeing lots of Facebook ads for it but it's more expensive than others. Will watch video now to see what you think :)
@@FUTURESPACECOLLECTIVE Great comparison video, Been on the edge of getting 1 for a while now and I think will go for the Galaxy one, brightness and the stars look a bit more random compared to the Bliss. I understand why you went with all green lasers so they are all the same but wish you had a blue laser one to see the difference. Was able to find another video with the blue and I think will get the blue rather than green, seems a little bit more realistic to me. Great video as usual, love your style.
@@nijjijjion204 I have the original Blisslights with the blue stars and found them hard to see, especially on the blue background. But will be testing the Galaxy Projector with the Blue lasers vs. the green at some point!
Same as the galaxy projector 2.0 Its a shame cos they could have made the app BLE, there was no need for wifi connectivity except to send your data to the Chinese government
Thanks for this video, it is very helpful. I ordered the Flinq smart star projector, which seems to be the same as your smart star projector. Question: are there also star projectors in a higher segment, with more output, perhaps multi color laser, et cetera? Do you perhaps know them?
They are more or less in the same realm power wise, GP2.0 seems to be the most powerful by a small margin based on my tests and none with multicolor lasers I've seen. The new Blisslights Evolve is neat with the Cyan+White LEDs. I will be doing another haul of star projectors and comparing them early 2023.
Do any of the projectors have shooting stars, and independently moving stars? Another factor to talk about is which star layout seems more "realistic" - as in, more random. Any feedback on that?
Blisslights with the least random looking pattern, none have shooting stars. Maybe checkout the Sega Flux which has realistic projections and shooting stars! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AIHsU6qARF8.html
Great info! Excellent and fun channel! New Subscriber. Now I guess now you need a "showdown 3.0" .. I ordered the BlissLights Sky Lite Evolve as far as I can tell it's pretty new. Also got a couple more kits of Govee "65.6ft LED Strip Lights" after I mounted them underneath a banister. I'm outlining the floor and back walls for my granddaughter's bed a dresser. LMAO .. we had nothing so fun when I was a kid, but I'm thrilled she's got a dreamland in her bedroom. 😎👍
Yup! I do plan to do a Showdown 3.0 probably closer to the end of the year! Sounds like quite the project you've taken on, I'm sure she'll love the final result!
Only thing i notice on the galaxy is the stars seem more...predictable? Esp right in the center with that circle pattern. Maybe it changes depending on the angle. My GF got me the Skylite 2.0 yesterday and i really enjoy it.
Hello, many thanks for this interesting video demonstration. I’m seriously contemplating purchasing one of these or something similar. Are there other functions which give you a choice of the stars affect rotating in different directions? I ask as I was noticing the stars affect appeared to be static unless as I ask, if it’s possible to set the stars effect to rotate, speed up, slow down et cetera, and move in different directions. Is it also possible to resize the stars and or other effects? From your opinion, would you suggest the Galaxy is the best option? I have noticed, the Galaxy appears to have the best clarity.
My Galaxy Projector 2.0 broke in less than 7 months. Customer service wasn't interested in helping me, stating they've got a 90 day warranty and do not follow product lifetime laws. Don't bother with this one; you're wasting your money.
Govee is gonna release a Galaxy Projector in a few days, it's on their website. I hope you review it! I posted about it, but I think the link I posted got my comment removed. Thanks! Love your content!
The bliss one displays a type of star 'glow' which I like. The others look too solid. If that makes sense. What I have been wondering is this... Why is the stars always green? Why not white? I find that a little odd.
The star patterns for all three projectors repeat, like texture maps. Are there any star projectors out there that have more randomness to their star patterns?
I got the bliss light evolve, and it died within a month. It randomly turned on and off repeatedly. Just ordered the galaxy lamps one, just to see if it’s the same.
Thank you very much for this interesting Review! The subject little discussed in the Reviews and which interests me the most is: the quality of the screening of the stars. I like a realistic projection. The Blisslights Sky Lite projector 2.0 stars seem to form lines or be aligned. I do not like. However, on the Galaxy Lamps projector 2.0 , this effect of stars grouped into lines seems more attenuated or the stars seem more dispersed with this projector, but the stars seems to form circles... Is it true? Thank you! :)
They are in some sort of pattern formation on all the projectors, just a limitation of the design. Less noticeable when projecting in an actual room instead of on a screen like in the technical comparisons. However if your looking for a realistic star projector, you may want to consider the Sega flux: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AIHsU6qARF8.html
@@FUTURESPACECOLLECTIVE Thank you for the quick reply! :) I want a realistic projection, but not as realistic as Sega. I already have the projector Blisslights 2.0 that I like a lot. Next week, I will receive the projector Galaxy Lamp 2.0.. I believe (according to your Review) that it is much better. More colors choice for nebulae and less aligned stars. I can not wait to compare them! My favorite, the "Laser Cosmos Star Light Projector", the projector is star-shaped. There are shooting stars! And the stars are not aligned. Hard to find... Thank you! :)
The one thing that gets me with these projectors, is that stars cannot be green. The Blisslights Skylite 2.0 wins it out for me as the stars can be changed to blue. Hoping in the future, multiple color lasers (blue, red, orange, yellow...) and a wider throw nebula pattern will be a thing with these lamps.
The color of the stars does not change on the projectors "Blisslights" and "Galaxy Lamps". You have to buy the projectors by selecting the color of the desired stars. I have the projector Blisslights with the blue stars, and the stars are bright, even with the lower brightness. I will receive the projector Galaxy Lamps as a gift next week and I also chose the blue stars projector. I think it's more realistic than green stars, according to my taste obviously. ;)
Do these work well if you have the tv on. Would like one in my living room while watching TV at night. Just not sure if they project well with a TV on. Great video
They'll work pretty well still with the TV on - especially the Galaxy Lamps, probably start to lose the effect with the Blisslights as it's not as bright.
i want to put one of these behind my TV pointing at my wall...will this work or would it be too close to the wall g\to give a good spread of light (75inch TV)?....any opinion would be appreciated from anyone
Hiya, been looking at reviews for the galaxy projector 2.0, a lot of negative reviews saying that their device is faulty, noisy, Catching fire etc. Do you think the normal galaxy projector is safer/not noisy?
You might want to check out northern lights aurora projectors, too. I was getting IG ads for them. They look pretty sick and have similar pricing to the galaxy projectors.
Hey matt! Yea the pattern on the northern lights looks to be different compared to the nebula projectors! Worth a look. Thanks for watching and supporting as usual!
@@FUTURESPACECOLLECTIVE Thanks to you I bought the Encalife Star Projector which I love. See that they now have a Northern Lights version, would love to see you review that someday.
I ordered mine from hokeki brand.. I wanted stars to be visible and twinkling and natural looking.. i love blue nebula and green stars .. i wish we had an option to make a purple nebula out of these projectors when you combine red and blue it looks like two colours.. not one purple colour like blue.. i would love lilac purple with green shooting starts 🌟
Star Projector seems to have better star pattern than the other two and the ovement of the nebula is slower which I also prefer. Or is it possible to adjust how fast the nebula moves on GP2.0? Is it also possible to setup how wide the nebula is on GP2.0?
@@FUTURESPACECOLLECTIVE it is right besides my bed because thats the best spot, and everytime i stand up its shining right in my eyes. I would need to put it in top of the corner in my room and even then i would look at it. Where do you place yours because , everywhere you place it, it will always shine at you
I picked up the Blisslights but the laser really hurts my eyes. If I place it behind me so I don't see it, it still hurts if I have to get up from bed as I need to walk in front of it. Anyone have recommendations? Place it up low, high, or am I just out of luck?
Not exactly sure of your question, but all of the projectors have presets attainable through clicking the physical buttons to display all three colors. If you then pair it with the app then you can fine tune to your liking or any color combo.
For anyone who's tried both green lights and blue lights....Do you prefer a blue light or green light? When I dim my Galaxy projector with green stars it actually looks pretty good Are the blue less prominent or do they shine through the Galaxy just as well? I would imagine dimming blue stars might even look better than dimming green stars but haven't seen them
@@elmoonfire Not in camera but potentially in your NLE. A waveform is a specific kind of chart. Dedicated pro video cameras typically have them, or a good video monitor will have them. Also your editing suite should typically have one as well.
Are there any good battery powered ones that you could throw anywhere? All the ads for most of these projectors where they just throw them on a bed of course are misleading. Everytime I think I find one on Amazon, it ends up not being true. I know your first video had one but I'm just wondering if there are more that are decent. I don't want to get a battery pack for all of them. Thanks for all your work you put in on these.
Not inbuilt that I've seen just that original one I did that had a battery. However, they also seemed to stop putting a battery in that original one, and instead switched for wifi control. It seems the best answer is to buy an external battery bank. But good news is sometimes is depending on what you get you can use it for any projector or even power multiple projectors at once.
@@FUTURESPACECOLLECTIVE Wow, thanks for the update on that. Guess power banks it is. Any recommendations on those? Always careful of third party chargers after one turned my old phone into a hot pocket.
Greetings, So i just discovered your channel by searching for some star projector for my room. I was looking for one that has a nice and soft ocean wave-like Motion for the LEDs. I saw a video on your channel where you compared the Moon Graphic projector with the starship (the first video in your playlist) Which one of those is the most quiet one and can you maybe do a review that focuses specifically on the motion of the projectors? Preferrably for wave motions and not just static rotations?
The "rotation" is what actually creates the motion animation of the nebula as well, so these things are the same - if you stop the rotation everything is fully static. Both Blisslights and Galaxy Projector have silent operation as heard in the vid!
How is this different compared to Eicaus 2 in 1 Star Projector? I know Eicaus -doesnt have the triple colors -doesnt rotate -the green stars are stationary but it is cheaper by about $70 compared to Galaxy Projector 2.0 plus it having ocean + stars aesthetic and built-in speakers. Will come back to this video and compare Eicaus with Galaxy Projector (just a comment to self)
When you showed the single blue color it seems like the galaxy lamp 2.0 had a less even distribution of the blue color compared to the smart star projector? Would you say that the smart star projector is better for blue only? What would you recommend if looking for a blue only projector?
Still recommend the Galaxy Projector 2.0 for blue only. Although I personally prefer the green as I find the blue hard on the eyes to see, but that's just me!
