I had a similar experience. Ran the ET Street S/S for about a year and it would spin 9/10 on a street launch. I am now using the ET Street R for the past month on the same roads and it hooks much better. Lowered my 60ft by 1 tenth of a second. Its a very good radial. I am sure on the track it will be awesome too.

Those marks are from the balance machine hub nut thingy. What they use to tighten the wheel to the machine!

Thanks for posting! I also have a Silverado and getting ready to buy tires and looking at S/S versus the R....how are the R's driving around town now that you've had them on for a little bit? I am looking to run the 315 60 15's on the R, versus the 295 if I went S/S. I've also been reading both these tires can have a slight to severe vibration above 70mph due to defects...you notice anything so far?

Maybe it's from when they balance the wheels on the machine. Sometimes they just spin the damn thing to tighten in the hub of the wheel and don't center balance the wheel when tighten causing it to get hit

That looks like the cone they use to mount the wheel on the machine made those marks.

My fuel injected 438windsor 68 mustang 3k lbs big stalled th400 410 gears cal tracs shocks and traction bars 505wheel on e85 and ET STREET SS tires will not hook full throttle even from a slow roll. Car is a weekend street strip so not worried about rain. I raced a Tesla Plaid and neck and neck till SS tires lost traction and i was going sideways. I am gonna try the R's 275/60r15 and hopefully next time i can give plaid a race...lol When i add a Novi2k the car will make 700wheel low boost. Should be good for high 8's. Will the R' last a long time on a weekend street strip car that never driven in rain? Thanks

I hade 275 60r15 ss street on my 06 mustang and they rubbed like crazy. Was thinking about getting 255 60r15 street r do you think that will still rub? Any opinions?

That’s not the socket my man. That’s from the balancer cone they put on it to hold it to the balancer. I would put money on it that, the rubber lip that is supposed to be on that cone is missing or worn out.

I just put those f14 ,17,15 on 295 rear on wife’s trans am . Don’t make them do all that tell you want new . Going threw all those steps will cost them more & tell that kid to go bag grocery & collect carts . Ding Fries are done

Be careful. I called Mickey thompson tech and they said ET street R has nylon belts instead of steel belts like SS. She said the R is not recommended for any prolonged street driving, just to track and back, not a daily driver or a fwy car and never long distance..Tech said the R can overheat and possibly cause a blowout, and the tire wears out fast. SS doesn't hook as well but much safer on street and they hook better when warm. I have driven SS tires everywhere and never an issue. Reviewer on summit racing said his ET street R's blew out on fwy after 100 miles, and he never had any issues with ET STREET SS TIRES.. Just a word for the wise.. Now i am weary of using the R"s on my fuel injected 438windsor 68 mustang cause i drive the car on fwy and lotta street driving on weekends only, but still. The summit racing review who said he blew his R out on fwy after 100miles has me worried. I have run et street ss tires 18-20psi for years on street and never an issue. I dont want to be worrying about a blow out on fwy with et street R's, even though it probably wont happen its more likely with R over SS.

markings on your rims are from the wheel rim clamp on the wheel balancer not the nut socket.

The carcass of the R' is different than the SS....the R is same a the Pro. You need closer to 750 to put the R to work.

That was so unprofessional how they had the lube all over. I said that before I even saw them gouge your wheels. They should just buy you a new set!

If you take your truck somewhere to get something done with the tires request that the technician use hand tools to remove the wheels. Because if you don't the tech will use their impact gun 10/10 . And you take the chance of them damaging your expensive wheels.

The street R is a better drag tire than the SS is neither will be good on wet pavement or in the rain they will be dangerous they are designed for dry pavement now I've had some Nitto NT 555R drag radials that are not as good as the Mickey Thompson ET street R or the SS for drag racing but they are good for cars and trucks that get driven on wet pavement or in the rain as good as most street radials if it's a daily driver they are safe if you drive normal in wet conditions the Mickey Thompson ET street Rs and SS are not the Nitto NT 555R is closer to Mickey Thompson street comp tire
