So rii > 8r drag straight line?
@fasnuf
@fasnuf Год назад
I would say no. The Toyo is just noisy and expensive. After running the Nitto for a couple weeks, it hooks very well for the price and is quieter than the r8. The Toyo is a way better Autocross/road course tire if that’s your thing. It really comes down to what you’re using it for and if noise and cost matter. Overall the Toyo is a great tire

I would say the Toyo's are the best all around except they are noisy, more expensive and wear out faster.

Had been running the previous gen of these, the NT555r and I was happy with them, will probably get the RII for this year as mine are down to the belts like your toyos were lol.

Toyo is definitely better of these two…as good if not better traction when up to temp and you don’t loose the spirited driving experience with the firmer sidewall of the R triple 8’s.

I have the Toyo Proxes R888R’s on my 2012 Corvette GS with a stick. My engine mods are a A&A supercharger V2 si kit, Cammotion camshaft 220/236 .595int / .600ex, ARH long tube headers, cat delete, Trick Flow pushrods, Beehive springs, 60lb Bosch injectors, and a tune of course. I am running 91 octane and getting 625 rwhp & 555 rwtq. These tires handle great and provide great grip on acceleration. They hook really well in 2nd & 3td gear. The best tires that I have ever had. My old tires used to spin in 3rd gear on the freeway going 90 mph. 😅

Where are the Nitto 555RII tires manufactured? Thanks.

Hi would you recommend the 888r for driving to and from the track (nearest track is around 70 miles each way for me). I think the stiffer side wall would help on the 888r for driving on the street. However my track might not let me run/compete on the days where it’s slicks and drag radials only if I get the 888r. I could argue and say it’s an R compound tire though. I will have to check with them. It would be a hassle to have to change tires at the track.
@fasnuf
@fasnuf 8 месяцев назад
Yes, These would not have any problem driving on the street.

Hello for some street drag use? What of this 2 type of tyre you think would have better traction for 1/4 mile?

The Toyos, but if you’re really drag racing use slicks.😂

Doing the same soon, What are you running for fronts?Next time you're in Mexico try playing with your psi might help with hooking.
@fasnuf
@fasnuf Год назад
For sure Chris. My psi for the street is 30psi. Its just been pretty cold here to hook well.What do you run for street pressure? I bought the Nitto nt555g2 for the front. My alignment guy kinda screwed up my front toyos so they needed replaced too.
@99Eternal
@99Eternal Год назад
@@fasnuf I would suggest running a bit lower, you'll likely get a bit of a crown in the center of the tire at 30psi and the center will wear unevenly and decreases the contact patch when they are loaded up under hard acceleration. I ran my 555r's at 25 psi for normal driving and I would drop them to 22psi if I was doing anything from a dig. They were stable at those pressures at high speed and I ran them for 2 years like that so far without any issue. My first pair I ran at 28-30psi at first and had the centers wear out a lot faster than the outsides, and noticed considerably better traction when I started running them at 22-25 and much more even wear.

💥 Interesting calling these a drag radial with such tiny sidewall at that size. Could these be used in auto cross.??
@fasnuf

The Toyos R888r are better for autocross. The sidewall isnt meant for cornering on this tire

What wheel spec is your rear rim?
@fasnuf
@fasnuf 3 месяца назад
front and rear are 20"
@AnnatarTheMaia
@AnnatarTheMaia Год назад
And while I'm calculating the geometry, might as well calculate it for the front tires too. The ZL1 has a so-called staggered setup. I just went to look at my front tire geometry and the front tires are 285 35 R 20, so the height is 99.75 mm. Sticking a 315 mm tire up front would then have the 31.666666666666666666% height, or roughly 315 32 R20. For 305 tires up front, the geometry would have to be (99.75 mm / 305 mm) * 100% = 32.704918032786885245%, so roughly 305 33 R20. As there are neither 315 32 R20 nor 305 33 R20 tires available, like FasNuf wrote, the firmware needs to be adjusted so that the computer can correctly calculate speed. On the Z/28, the engineers went with 305 width, but took 2.54 mm off of the rim radius to make the geometry work.

No hits at all. Just some slow country drivin. We need more for a review, or even a preliminary opinion really. I’m on the fence for these two tires and I didn’t come away feeling I have any more insight 🧐
@fasnuf
@fasnuf Год назад
I gave a preliminary opinion and making hits in 50* weather is dangerous on drag radials with 700+ whp. If you're looking for the best traction, the Toyos are what you want, they're just more noisy and I doubt they'll last quite as long. I'll try better next time. Thanks for watching.
